A lawful evil monk. The strong have power over the weak, so his goal is to become more powerful so that he can have mastery over others. It's not going to be too obvious - in a fight, if he leaves his opponent alive, he's going to always demand that they surrender to him. He's going to be very contemptous of those who use magic, feeling that the strong should be strong on their own instead of relying on others to prop them up.

The problem is, eventually he would suddenly turn on the party. Once he feel's he's strong enough, and has some NPC allies, like perhaps his own school and its students, he's going to decide the party is no longer equals with him, and he needs to prove his dominance. The fight would hopefully be non-lethal, but monks being monks he'd probably be killed by the party.

Undead Hunter, Moon Elf, 140 years old. She is fucking one-man-army when it comes to fight with undeads and she can annihilate whole groups in seconds. She also have a lot of knowledge about undeads. Now cons:
>she lost her left arm when defending her friend
>she is fucking insane, have schisophreny, is an alcoholic and absolute nihilist
>she can't hurt intentionally any living creature
She just can't. When she trying to attack anyone, she just stops or don't even begin. She is vurnerable against any living enemy (necromancers too)
If you want anons I can tell you about her a little more, cause i have a lot of concepts for her.

Young lordling of fifteen from a long line of great warriors. His house having served in the vanguard of the Griffon king's army since the days of old. He is an oddity, however. Comely and soft spoken, the product of his father wedding a beauty. As a second son (and often described as the 'eldest daughter') living in a time of peace with no hope of inheritance, Quarl dreams of adventure and freedom. He eventually escapes his father's ribald tongue by way of deception, and gets his wish... Although when wishes come true we often lament our lack of foresight, and Quarl is no stranger to lamentations.

>She is a fucking one-man-army when it comes to fight with undeads and she can annihilate whole groups in seconds.
>she is fucking insane

Perhaps you could improve this design by allowing her to teleport, so that she might teleport behind her enemies and say something like "heh, Nothing Personell kid." before annihilating them from behind?
>>
Battlemage/Spellblade focused on anti-magic capabilities. Use teleports and blinks to get close, while using silences, anti-magic zones, and counterspells to negate spellcasting. Bonus points if you use magical equipment that nullify or suppress magic. A null-magic net or bola is pretty cool, while magic weaponry that drain mana and shit works well.

Basically, you train yourself to nullify the advantages of a caster, so that you can beat them in martial prowess. I was always a sucker for that kind of playstyle.

73 year old magic hobo. 4'11" 135lb, he was kidnapped and trained by the local bbeg's cult to develop his innate magical powers when they first began to manifest as a child. At 14 he escaped and has lived on the street ever since, always trying to keep his powers hidden lest he be taken advantage of again.

Technically he is a shadow magic wizard, level 1, CN. Has spells like gust, presti, and magic stone he uses to pretend he is just good with a sling, but when he needs to he has catapult and witch bolt to become a full sith acolyte. Only if thematically appropriate, which at this point, it very well might be. Anti-mage actually hadn't popped into my mind until now.

On an unrelated note, Eladrin/Eldritch Knight(5e, sue me.) gives quite a bit of teleportation ability, which is always a plus. Nothing says "fuck your caster" more than a fighter teleporting in, killing the caster with help from an action surge, then teleporting away without consequence.

I have a villain concept I am trying to hash out.

Setting is a generic mecha anime type thing, NERV style secret agency etc.

The character is a kid who knows for sure his parents died in a battle, and wants revenge. So the agency take him in, train him, let his resentment grow and tell him the enemy did it. His superiors have no reason to assume otherwise.

The problem is his parents died in a bungled mission authorised by the agency who recruited him and this has been covered up at a level higher than his immediate superiors. He finds out that not only has he apparently been lied to about the circumstances, the people responsible are right here, and have just given him a mech and told him it's OK to want revenge.

There is now basically a Broken Arrow situation.

I already got this one set with my DM for our next adventure in 5e.
Sorry for the wall of text.

A sailor who gets himself stranded on an small island in the middle of nowhere after a huge tempest.
He does his best to live foraging some berries, eating small raw fish and drinking the scarce rain water from puddles.
After a couple of months he is already hopeless regarding a rescue team.
One night a storm hits, not unlike the one who got him stranded.
Then after having a shitty stormy night, he finds a small wax sealed box that drifted ashore, inside it there is a fairly odd book written in common but with some strange wording, the cover reads "Holy Bible".
With nothing else to do, he takes his time to read the whole thing and as he finishes the last page he can see a ship in the horizon coming straight for the island.
After the rescue, he baptises himself as Michael the First War Cleric of Yahweh, ready to start a crusade to spread the word of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

We were playing a Dark Crusade game, and my GM wanted me in, and would allow any stupid concept I could come up with.

So I made a Tau "stuck" in a modified terminator armour, similar to how they use their crisis suits. He tries to pass himself off as an iron warrior who can only speak with a mechanical instrument, so as to avoid suspicion.

The other players are idiots, so they haven't realised, despite this supposed Iron Warrior stuck in a terminator armour sometimes seems to fall asleep and become completely unresponsive (because sneaking out of the suit to actually feed himself) and generally acting FAR too naive and innocent to be anywhere near that of a fucking CSM.

A highly modified super soldier built in a top secret military lab, but the project was cancelled and he was "disposed of" by knocking him out and dumping him in a ditch. He wakes up with no idea what to do with himself, until he finds a comic book in the gutter. Takes up being a super hero, preferably in a setting where that isn't an actual thing.
>>
Two ides for the same character, actually. Base idea is a landsknecht-type fighter with a massive two-handed sword and a shortsword. The backstory is where it varies.

In the first one he's the last heir of a minor noble family, but gout ousted by an uncle or the neighbours one castle over. Rather clichéd I think, but hey.

The second is where he's a bit older, the loyal Seneschal of a noble family, taking care of mundane matters in the castle. He used to ride to war with his lord, but after a nasty, slow-healing wound he was relegated to butler duty, where he continued to serve loyally. At one point the castle is attacked, and he's knocked out during the defense. He wakes up with the burning castle collapsing around him and everybody either dead or gone. A subplot involving him trying to find out what happened to his lord would be easy to tie into any kind of intrigue or investigation the DM may have planned.

One important thing that i forgot - she is a priestess (priestess of Kelemvor, from Forgotten Realms) and her main weapon is magic. To be honest - she only can use magic that affects undeads. Sooo...
>>45230987
Uhhh, i wanted her to be almost satirically "dark", because I'm playing right now a priestess of Sune, goddess of love and beauty, and she is an optimistic idiot type. I need something else or i'm gonna go crazy with this: "OH, LOVE IS EVERYTHING, LOVE CAN SOLVE ANY PROBLEM"
Also, imo it's pretty balanced character. She can only fight against undeads and is vurnerable against anyone else. One arm less, psychical problems, magic that also can only affect undeads. Nothing overpowered.

It is a really... over-the-top character. And not a good over-the-top, like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, but a really try-hardish kind of over-the-top. It feels like you're piling on all these really "gritty" and "dark" aspects just for the sake of being really gritty and dark and not actually creating an organic character.

There's nothing wrong with a magic wielding undead-hunter who lost an arm. Heck, that alone is interesting and could see a lot of play. Proper Schizophrenia could also be interesting to play in the right setting (Just make sure its proper Schizophrenia and not TV Schizo), as could not being able to harm living creatures (you'd have to explain why though; geas, trauma or simple oath would suffice.) And alcoholing and nihilistic are staples for the mroe roguish archetypes.

But when you throw them all into the same mixing pot you end up with a seriously cacophonic character. They don't feel... real. They feel like a contrived mess of tropes (yes, I know /tg/ hates the word).

Yeah, I thought about making a short campaign were the party has to escort him somewhere so he can help them find an artifact they need to defeat the BBEG.
Basically they would
a) have to deal with his shit while traveling.
b) try to survive while he is 'helping' in combat.
He'd be pretty high level too so becomes an actual liability instead of a mild annoyance.

Can someone tell me how edgy this character is? Kinda wanna play them but don't wanna be an edgelord.

Young bard, raised by wealthy lady in big city. Never really left the house. He was raised with hundreds of fanciful tales by his mother, and when she unfortunately died, he left to find the best story in the world, so follows the adventurers trying to bring down the evil lich, chronicling their heroic acts.
Eventually, they get to the lich's lair, and are captured. While chained up, Bard is commanded by a huge hulking man in armor, sitting on his throne, to kill the adventurers, and just before, bursts out laughing and apologises cos he was so close. The story was going so well but he messed it up, oops. He sends Jim away and sits on his throne. Tells them that they won't be alive long enough to tell anyone his story isn't true so who cares if he embellishes a little?

Anyhoo, turns out his 'mother' who raised him wasn't actually his mother - his real mother was one of the servants who worked for the lady, who died a few months back. The Lady just kept him like her own to have some fun with him, and ended up scarring him mentally with abuse. While researching his true family, he found that his grandfather was a lich king years ago, and society shunned him and his children had to adopt false identities to get through life without being constantly ridiculed.
The whole thing was too much, the Lady laughed at him, he killed her in a fit of rage. His whole life had just been one of her stories. So he'd make it a good one.

I had this idea earlier today. Tell me how this sounds.

An 50-year old military veteran (fighter) with a family goes through a mid-life crisis and just wants to be young again to relive the glory days.

While drowning his sorrows in beer at the local inn and lamenting how his glory days are over, a local wizard comes up to him and offers him a deal. The wizard can easily brew up a spell of youth for the grizzled fighter, so long as he agrees to whatever consequences may come. The fighter drunkenly agrees.

The next morning he wakes up inside one of the rooms at the inn. Even though he's hung over from the night before, he feels energetic and his usual aches & pains are gone.

He looks in the mirror, expecting to see the face of a dashing young man and instead see's the face of a young & beautiful woman looking back at him.

He leaves and tries to find a familiar face, but instead he finds his family walking about town with a man who looks just like him. Turns out the wizard was jealous of the fighters life and wanted it for himself. The wizard, now wearing the veteran's face gives him a wink.

The old veteran, now a young woman goes and tries to explain to his wife and children what's going on, the wizard planned for this eventuality as well and had placed an alter memory spell. His wife stated, "I know you. You're the harlot who tried to seduce my husband!"

Now left with nothing, the fighter has to dawn his old armor and sword, which make an incredibly clunky fit on this small body of his, and leave the town in order to get strong again and to find a cure to his curse. Then he'll return and confront that wizard once more and get his family back.

TL;DR Old fighter wants to be young again, makes a deal with a wizard who curses him to become a young woman, the wizard gives himself the appearance of the fighter and has now stolen the guys family from him. Fighter has to find a way to break the curse and get his family back.

>>45231796
Oh my god, you're making it worse
> She can't hurt living people (she was cursed when she was a newborn, thanks to her father-necromant) so she is hurting undeads.
This right here makes it sound like she's hurting the undead not because they're evil creatures, but because she isn't allowed to get her jollies off on killing living folk.

>Also, undeads killed her mercenary group and her lovely friend that she loved. She is depressed because of it (and her lost arm) so - drinking, psychical problems and nihilism.
A bit of psychological trauma in a character is fine. But losing her entire mercernary group AND lover to the same set of undead? I will grant you, its entirely plausible, but its also completely UNNECESSARY. Even worse is that that kind of trauma wouldn't inspire her to kill undead; she'd have a PTSD attack every time she saw the damn things. Or she'd just stay continually drowning her sorrows in alcohol.

You haven't really addressed the schizophrenia either.

But most importantly; how on earth is this character going to interact with anyone outside of a My Chemical Romance concert? They're insane, unsocial and completely unlikable. A warforged with his vocal chords removed would be more endearing.

I've never played a Bard. I mean a real bard, not just one with a few levels thrown in as part of a concept. I want to play one like
>You fellas going on an adventure? You should probably bring me along.
>Why bring me? You see this drum? When bad things happen, I'm going to play my drum and everyone I want to help who heard it will soldier better. I'll play my drum and you guys will all hit things really good.
>It's more useful than you think. Besides I need to shuffle out of this town in a hurry. I may have had some relations with a very comely and agreeable woman who may or may not have been married to the Baron.
>All I ask is for places to play along the way and I'll write some epic ballads for you guys or something. You guys want to be famous? I can make that happen.
>Name's Patrick Warbardon. Pleasure to meet you.
And I'd be speaking in my best Patrick Warburton voice the entire time in-character, which I've been told is spot-on. At least that one time I rolled an IRL Nat20 Perform check. Probably better suited to an npc and I had more thoughts for a backstory at one point that I've forgotten. But he would be as dumb as The Tick, as charismatic and randy as every other bard you've heard of, and never, ever carry a weapon. Or maybe a rapier at best, and exclusively.

Using what little saving he has kept over the years, he tried to set himself up as a merchant in the capital, but business was ruined by war and bigger fish pushing him out of the market. As a homeless man in the capital life has been tough, and after one night stabbing the drunken son of burgess in self defence, he was forced to flee the city. On the roads he met the bandits that Mort was travelling with, and was taken prisoner. After a robbery gone wrong, whereby the bandits attacked a caravan which they believed to belong to a merchant, but in fact had been requisitioned by state troops, all but Mort and Berkin died. Since then both have roamed a country wracked by strife together, at first reluctantly, but eventually they became friends.

S'reng, a Berserker (4e Heroes of the Feywild Barbarian subclass) who fights naked but for a helmet, greaves and shield (he takes off his trousers before battle).

He carries javelins and a sword with a spear over his back, and his skin is covered with writhing magical tattoos that hurt to look at.

He is generous with money and ale, values loyalty, and is supremely proud, but idle and often self-serving as he has lived much of his life as a chief's retainer, and had few things asked of him besides his loyalty and sword-arm.

When he Berserks he laughs with child-like glee.

S'reng collects the heads of his enemies, so that their souls will be his thralls in the afterlife.

To offset his lack of armour, S'reng will take the feat "tough" for extra hp, the "unarmoured agility" feat as his extra human feat, which will give him a +2 ac bonus, and he will have 18 dex, 16 str, 12 con at lv 1.

He's not optimal, but he's dripping with flavour.

Ig and Nog. They are mushroom men, standing at about three feet high. They are essentially mushrooms with bodies; two stumps for legs and two stumps for arms, which can 'mush' around objects to pick them up. They have eyes, which are like glowing white balls the size of olives, sticking out from under their hoods, and have no mouths, as they simply hold food to themselves and assimilate it as mushrooms do. They left their clan in the caves at the foot of Mount Faelger three years ago, and have since set themselves up as peddlars, selling a plethora of goods from the back of their cart, pulled by their faithful donkey Cob.

Dude, my friends and I (back in our ultra-nerd phase, now we're only super-nerds) developed a whole fucking Harry Potter universe set in the United States, with a unique American take on the Wizarding World. Shit was so cash, we got a whole lot done, but never really did anything with it.

Still fucking proud of it, though.

That was my main concern when coming up with it. I know it's fetishy for some people, but I just think it can make for an interesting & unique character concept. Something like Ranma, even though that's more tongue-n-cheek

I'm not gonna deny it also happens to be a fetish, but I'm not gonna bring that half of it to the table. It'd be purely for the storytelling aspect. My goal is to return to normal after all.

A LE female drow who disguises herself as male because she thinks the surface people will find the idea of an oppressed man fleeing the underdark more believable and sympathetic than the truth of her just thinking she has a better chance of gaining enough money and notoriety to live comfortably if she doesn't have to worry about constantly dealing with backstabbing bitches.

A frail and shy LN man suffering from various bodily ailments finds comfort in helping people. Problem is, he's no good with his fists or a gun. Too weak. Can't charm or interrogate for shit, having lived his developing years with dear old Pop in a desert survival encampment. Can't run, can't climb, can't swim, can't dive. Hell, he can barely operate his rusty Toyota without rolling slowly off the road.

Good thing his dad was a doomsday prepper nut who taught him all he knew about explosives and electronics of all sorts. He has THAT going for him, at least.

A "paladin" without actual divine powers. Uses an old-tech (precursor tech) energy weapon that's property of the Order to perform "magic". Otherwise, smacks shit around with a sword.

A low-fantasy alchemist that believes the prime element is not gold, but water. Goes around to various towns with poisoned wells or tainted rivers and "exorcises the evil spirits" from them, leaving purified water supplies in his wake. Keeps a catalogued library of samples of these demons from various places he's been to. Owns a donkey named Pomme de Terre and enjoys coffee when he has proper time to brew it. Also has a rival from a few kingdoms over who thinks he's a quack, and sets out for adventure to clear his name when rival writes a farcical "fiction" depicting my alchemists exploits in mocking detail. Plus cleansing a few springs along the way. Hopefully with my skeptical yet plucky companion/apprentice along the way.

Ogre Samurai who goes apeshit at anything even remotely occult.

For once, I want to play a dumb character.
This is for 3.PF

He is the only half orc in his settlement, but believes he's a regular human, and most important of all, he believes growing up with a monk master (who saved and adopted him) and watching him train others constitutes legit monk training.
He's so obsessed with martial arts that he constantly tries to show off his "skills" to anyone and everyone.
He is so obnoxious that everyone wants to get rid of him, so he gets sent on all kinds of quests just to have him off town as much as possible.

Desperately trying to use a monk's fighting style in any confrontation, he usually fails and ends up brutally pummelling whatever he is fighting against.

He is in fact a barbarian (or bloodrager, still haven't made up my mind).
He tried to kill everyone who tried to tell him
>>
A pure tank in muscle and blood alone. He fights shirtless, yet reacts to sword blows like he was wearing armor, despite the huge gash in his chest. Of course he's actually wounded when struck, but he's just out of fucks to give.

A predatory ladyknight who makes it a point to be as offensive in all ways as possible. Can do a mad dash with a longsword, and sports a sharpened codpiece which, when given the opportunity, she uses as a weapon.

Master craftsman arbalest who uses an insanely powerful windlass of his own creation. Over the campaign it gets progressively stronger until it's beyond the strength of a harpoon gun.
>>
A spiteful, misogyny filled fighter who's name was ruined when he was framed for rape. Although wanted, he still chooses to help the helpless and protect the weak. He is neutral good.

Try this.
Paladin/Inquisitor, Elf, 140 years old. She is a one man army against undead and can hold her own more then the average adventurer. She has studied undead extensively on how to kill them.
Cons:
>She lost an arm while defending a friend.
>She is unstable and anti-social. She also has failed to protect those she cared about, and is generally very sour.
>She refuses to hurt any living creature.

Maybe you should have that she can't fight living creatures because of a curse or a condition that makes it impossible. Vowing to protect your allies then letting them die to bandits out of principle is contradictory and kinda shit.

I like the base idea, but it really should be toned down a bit.

Anlathas was raised in a kingdom that valued domination above all else. He distinguished himself on the battlefield as a soldier and was knighted. He was gifted a beautiful wife and a position as one of the king's personal bodyguards. However, the war from which he returned left him disillusioned with the king and kingdom he served. He felt an undying loyalty to the men who fought beside him and a deep loathing for the king that sent them to die. He brokered a deal with the enemy to leave the king open for an assassination attempt. His wife discovered the plot and turned him in. He narrowly escaped execution and fled his country across the sea. Now he wanders from town to town selling his martial prowess and trying to avoid the attention of any prying eyes. He keeps his only keepsakes from his homeland; his shortsword, shield, and armor safely away from his person and has changed his distinctive fighting style to aid in his deception. But, old habits die hard and the ritualistic training of mind and body are sometimes hard to suppress.

He's a 5e fighter based on a spartan. I purposely left the backstory fairly vague to give the DM room to expand it in game if he wants. He's a defensive style fighter who is currently not taking the extra point in AC due to the fact that he's purposely trying to conform to a less distinct sword and board style. Thinking about multiclassing into Order of the Immortal Psion later down the road. Any suggestions on when I should do so?

A human female who was raised by nuns. Her monastery was attacked by a beast, and she was saved by monster hunters. She was the last survivor because she was just a little girl who managed to hide in a small space.

The monster hunters who saved her took pity and decided to train her.

She's still a nun at heart, but is a bit edgy/grimdark rather than devout at this point. She is a dex fighter who dual wields crossbows and dresses like pic related.

>From a cancelled PF game
Found amidst the ruins of a recently raided border town, an infant wearing the hammer of Torag about his neck was rushed along with all the recent dwarvish orphans to a Dwarven town located in the safety of the Menador Mountains north of Cheliax and the Whisperwood. He was thought to be one of the Dwarves’ own left orphaned by an Ulfen raiding offshoot of White Estrid’s fleet seeking the wealth of Dwarven traders between their mountain home of the Menador chain and the Kingdom of Cheliax. Unbeknownst to his adoptive parents, he was not as he first appeared. However, the kindly Dwarven smith, Torvald, had made an oath to his own patron, Torag, to see the young boy into adulthood after gazing upon his adoptive son’s pendant. Having taken his survival as a boon of favor of Torag, Torvald named the boy Siegmund, named for one victoriously protected. So, it was fated the youth would grow amongst the people his biological parents sought to pillage. Not knowing the ways of the Ulfen, let alone the truth of his lineage, he was raised as any Dwarven smith’s son would: by the heat of the forge and the song of the anvil. Having grown many heads taller than his kin, Siegmund was somewhat outcast, seen as oafish and clumsy, but not all-together disliked. He learned much of humility, and by Torvald’s volition, the trade of the Dwarven forgemaster. Having long surpassed the years of adolescent humanhood, he began to see his Dwarven peers as childish and naïve, further exacerbating the difference inherent in his veins. This earned him the moniker Erlandr, or “outsider” in their tongue. By his 28th year, Siegmund had made the choice to strike forward and write his own destiny, and seek his worth outside the mountain halls of his upbringing. Tearfully, Torvald and his wife, Moira, said their goodbyes and bid him leave, granting him their blessing. Thus Erlandr Siegmund Smidurfell made his way south to the Kingdom of Cheliax.

A young minor noble born the son of his father's 8th Concubine. As the baby of the family he was generally ignored, had no chance at the throne and was expected not to seiously fuck anything up or tarnish his father's reputation. He took the head of the house guard as his father figure and viewed the house staff as his family.

When a rival family invaded their city his father, being a slavenly wasteful drunk and a coward, caved to their demands after the head of the guard died defending him.

Swearing revenge he promises he house staff he'll be back to rescue them and goes off to become a mercenary in hopes of building up his fortune and skills to eventually kill all of his siblings and his father, pin the whole thing on the invading family and force a marriage between him and the invading families daughter to rule both cities and adopt the surviving house staff as his family (With the daughter of the House Guard as his true love)

>Tommund, the High Cleric
A middle-aged man that has been raised by the church since he was a young boy. He's a humorless man, adhering to stoicism with little room to breathe, so to speak. He is righteous to a fault, rejecting material pleasures as inherently wrong. Paragon of devoutness as he may be, he is by no means a good role model. He's generally misogynistic, and dislikes children, minorities, and non-humans. He's so blinded by faith that anything that he sees as sinful should be, in his view, destroyed.

>Socille, the Hunter
Socille was barely a year old when she was found abandoned in the forest by a group of witch hunters. She was adopted by one of the hunters, named Vernon, and raised as one of them. When she came of age, she opted to travel alone, believing that her training would be sufficient to keep her alive. While she has ample knowledge on paper, she has much to learn in practice. She adheres to then code Vernon instilled in her, but she struggles to keep her way in a world where things are never black and white.
