This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son, shortly after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin graduate named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You have just recently graduated to a Chunin after winning the final tournament, and it is the day after. You have some time to relax.

She seems strange looking weak, just as Ai had. You smile, and give a small wave. "Hey. How are you?"
She pulls her hospital shirt up slightly, showing you her bandaged stomach. "Healing up. You cut me open pretty good...still can't believe it. I didn't even get to try out most of my best Jutsu on you."
You chuckle. "Well, that was sort of my idea. I was barely making it through the first one."
She smiles. "You say that, but then you go and win the whole damn championship. Either you're humble, or you intentionally always play yourself down so that you've got the edge."
You scratch your chin. "Hm, can't it be both?"
She rolls her large, white eyes. "Sure, slick. So did you just come here to talk my ear off?"
You shrug. "I guess so. I'm checking up on people in general, seeing if there's anything anyone needs. How about you?"
She considers this for a moment. "Hmm, would you get me a pork sandwich from Ichiraku's? This hospital food..egh."
She sticks her tongue out, and groans. You smile. "Sure, no problem. I'll bring it by later tonight."
She slips her tongue back into her mouth. "Thanks a lot. See you."

You start your walk to the Nara residence, heading back into the center of town until you reach the manor. Entering through the main gate, you rap lightly on the front door with the back of your hand. After a few brief moments of silence, Temari opens up the door, wearing an apron. She smiles and steps back, quickly returning to the kitchen and ushering you in. "Hello, Takeshi. Congratulations on your victory! I can't begin to tell you how proud everyone is that you won this victory for the Leaf, even if it did come down between you and Boruto."
That is true. You hadn't really considered the fact that you were representing your country, as well as representing yourself. The Leaf must look as good as ever, considering how many finalists there were. It really is true that you're a part of the most powerful nation on the planet.
You step in front of the counter, as Temari is slicing tomatoes. "Is Shikamaru home?"
She nods. "He is. Shikadai's on a mission, but my husband /should/ be out back fixing the shed."
You start heading towards the door. "Thanks Mrs. Nara!"
Once you step through the back door, you head towards a dingy, slightly crooked, home made shed. It's fairly small, as well. You take a step inside and find Shikamaru relaxing on the ground, a book over his face, asleep. He has a pillow propped up behind him, and the sun from the small window on the right is gleaming in just perfectly to warm him, but not get in his eyes.
Despite it's crooked appearance, it looks comfortable. You knock on the door frame. "Shikamaru?"

You grin, matching his. "Well, sensei, I actually came over because I wanted to thank you. I would have never gotten as far as I had without your training."
Shikamaru crosses his arms, and sighs. "If only you knew. Takeshi, I'm going to have to resume my normal duties soon, so I'll be busy from now on. But I think you should try to find a teacher who can show you the path to even greater skill. Of course, you can always train with a partner or by yourself, but nothing compares to learning from a master."
You nod. "Thank you, sir."

Opening up your ninja tool pack as you walk, you notice that you still have two whole doses of the poison that Shino gave you left. The only situation where you were really forced to use it was against Usagi, the Archer that could heal with Chakra or something. Whatever he was, he was serious business, and you're not going to forget him any time soon. It may be good that you didn't use all of this poison, keeping it for future missions could be life saving.
As you're thinking, you decide that you should head on over to the Academy and thank Shino, and possibly check out the library as well. It doesn't take very long to arrive there, granted you feel a slight sensation of unease as you poss the spot where you and Kayo had found the murdered woman. Once you enter the building you feel fine, and you start glancing through classroom windows until you find Shino, teaching a class of young students.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, you decide on renting the Genjutsu book and simply taking a look at the book on Water Ninjutsu. As you dive into it, you learn how to more accurately manipulate the flow of your chakra so that it has the consistency of water. You learn about how many Water Jutsu require a source of water to be truly effective, but for extra cost, you can generate this water purely from your own chakra. There are jutsu designed to alter the battlefield, restrain opponents, create distractions, cut, crush, and defend.
From the list of D-ranked jutsu that you can see, you figure that you would currently be able to learn the Water Whip Jutsu, as well as the Water Walking Jutsu, which you learn is more of a non-elemental technique, although it will help to refine your chakra control.
After this, you return the Water Jutsu book and check out the Genjutsu one once more. Afterwards you head back to the classroom, just in time as the kids are being dismissed. You enter, and approach Shino. "Hello, sensei."
He regards you with a nod. "Hello, Takeshi. Congratulations on your victory, you've come very far from the days of me being your teacher."
You chuckle. "Well, I actually wanted to thank you for letting me use that poison. I don't know if I could have beaten Usagi without it."
Shino looks to the side. "I'm impressed that you only resorted to it once, and in an appropriately dire situation. This seemed to be one of the things that really won over the examiners."
You nod. "I see. It makes sense."
Shino picks up a stack of papers, and neatly organizes them. "Soon, you'll be going on real missions. I imagine that you'll be in somewhat of a unique position, but one that will prepare you for the future no less. Good luck, Takeshi.
You bow. "Thank you sensei." and leave, a new book in your hands.

As a side note: Those who think Boruto and Sarada are OTP or some shit, Boruto beat Nyoko is a show of raw power. Nyoko's god complex therefore recognizes Boruto as "worthy." Naruto characters are and always have been 2-dimensional. Sasuke's a cunt because dead parents and wants nothing more than to bury the pain under the rush of battle (even if he tries to justify it with his avenger mindset), Sakura's where's a polite mask but even the slightest chance to give into her violent demeanor is taken, though she DOES try to make sure being violent is justified. Naruto's a lazy, self-centered little shit whose only reason for ending violence is so he can be friends with everyone without conflicting interests. He really has no right to be kage, and it saddens me that people actually let him lead the village in a meaningful capacity.
