I'm antisocial enough IRL. I want to at least pretend to be personable in fantasy-land.
I'm never going to play a character with any sort of mental disorder. Even a simple intro to pysch course made it clear that most people have the wrong idea about mental disorders, and that I probably couldn't portray them well.
Take a sociopath, for example. There are a surprisingly large number of unreported sociopaths, because it doesn't always become something that affects their lives. They learn how to play by the rules of society, even without really caring for others.

I love playing sociopath characters. Not unhinged lolrandumb evil, just people whose dilemmas aren't about morals, conscience, or relationships. I like those characters too, but it can be very fun when you're only concerned about yourself and how to act in your best interest, especially if you can't quite tell how others will react what with their messy empathy and such.
