why aren't more helmets done like Clone Trooper helmets in sci-fi

>>
>>44598000
The visor could work if the entire helmet faceplate was actually the same see through material, just shaded differently from the outside view to make it LOOK like the eyes were there.
>>
>>44598067
are you retarded? why would they put a spoiler on there if it didn't let them run faster?
>>
>>44598000
It's a damn sight better than Stormtrooper helmets. In Rebels, Captain Rex complains that Imperial gear is shit compared to the stuff he had during the Clone Wars.
>>
>>44598372
Well they had to make cuts to build that whole death star thing
>>
>>44598372

Hey, they should be glad it still had NBC protection: the First Order couldn't even afford that.
>>
>>44598358
Actually, It's a known fact that the spoiler is used as a form of mating plumage. Clone troopers would signal to others that they were healthy males by displaying their crest. The fact that the design is aerodynamic is just a bonus.

Learn the lore loser.

You forget who designed the helmets and armor, Kaminoans. Phase I armor was said to be stiff and uncomfortable when sitting. The crest obviously is a nod to the males of the Kaminoan species.

Plus, it does make them go faster.

This, phase II is the best troop helmet in sci-fi I've seen en decades
>>
>>44600667
Yeah but in this case they'd be a mass-produced, conforming, punk rebel authority. They'd spend their days kicking down doors to open DIY swap meets in your living room, confiscating your hovercar to haul their equipment to their next show, and stopping you one the street on your way to work to jeer and toss beer cans at you, possibly holding you for three days and giving you a homemade tattoo before releasing you without your shoes.

Hell, apparently the helmets can't even filter out poison gas, only smoke. I mean, we had masks that could do that in WWI, and the movies show little pencil-sized things that let you breathe underwater, but military helmets can't give you a bit of clean air?
>>
>>44604573
That seems like a flaw for the jump troopers, honestly; you'd want to be able to look around the battlefield without changing course sometimes, so you can see the guy shooting you without diving right at him.
>>
>>44598987
>bacta tank
>oooor stick him in a suit
>>
>>44607726
Bacta has limits, though. Luke got a robot hand, and Vader needed a few limbs, plus repairing all his parts that are cooked/soaked in poisonous fumes. Maybe it gives him bacta injections, but it only can do so much.

Ner'vod
The style of helmet might see implementation by more sci fi writers of they grasped the HUD it supports, and the eye movement/blink navigation it uses. Also iirc the helmets had wrap around vision, or at least the mandalorian buice did, I can't remember if the trooper or commandoes had them.

Also, and I can't remember if this is true or not; I seem to recall the spoiler having an indicator light in back to give signals to other troopers visually.

Apparently some supplementary thing floating on the periphery of TFA mentions the Battle of Rakata, so perhaps not everything from KOTOR has transformed into the Force.

The artbook for TFA also mentions Kylo's saber design being based off the saber used by "the Scourge of Malachor" so it's not out of the question.

I'd love to see Delta Squad as elite group of old ass dudes waging guerilla warfare against Imperial forces on some backwoods planet in an episode of Rebels.
But only if they had their VA's return for it.
To have anyone other than Temuera Morrison voice 38 is a sin against Star Wars.

Hard contact is ok, good even.

After that Traviss pretty much plays around with fanfiction-style stories and tries to orient the canon into her favor.
It gets to the point where Jedi see their own order as so bad that they become mandos, and then live for nearly 200 years.
