Convince me that having the BBEG's endgame plan involve turning an entire city into helpless bunny-people is a bad idea.

Because they should be helpful bunny-people instead.
>>
What is the BBEG?
>>
But why?
What after that?
>>
>>44452703
Hopefully a sentient, giant carrot.
>>
My current PC. Has a habit of doing it. They praise her for it and crave to be turned into pure bunnies. Just wanting cuddles, food, and sweets in return.
>>
>>44452719
What does that even mean?
>>
That's a bad engame, his endgame should be taking over the city once rendering it helpless.
>>
>>44452745
He wants the bunny people to be helpless.
>>
His end game should be to instead permanently enchant the city so that anyone inside of it completely obeys him no matter what he commands.
>>
>>44452715
Maybe he has a weird sense of humor?
>>
>>44452664
Right in the feels anon. That whole game is sad, but those bunnies are the thing that saddened me the most.
>>
>>44452664

For one thing, it might a player's fetish.

For another, the BBEG's losing out on a massive amount of potentially useful slaves/mind-controlled followers. Sure, the bunnies are apparently helpless and thus ill-suited to oppose him, but they also probably have a VERY reduced capacity for usefulness as a result.

That said, I did like Odin Sphere and I thought the pookas were adorable (although the story behind them was pretty goddamn sad), so go right ahead, GM, use the bunny plan.

Because in large enough numbers, even bunny people are still a threat. Even more so than as humans, some could argue. They are certainly faster now.

I think the term originated in Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom, so you really could do worse.

He'll be too busy cooing over how cute the little bunnies are to do anything productive afterward, making him easy prey for the party to kill. It will be an unsatisfying boss fight.

Because the people were humans. He shouldn't be transforming them into anything, especially non-consensually. It's just straight up bad form, and seems to be designed specifically to draw attention to himself as a low-level BBEG plan.

It should also be contagious, and passed through hugging

Transforming people into oozes and using them to keep your sewers pristine and clean sounds like a better plan.

>>44452664
I actually ran a Campaign where this was the BBEG's plan, actually. And the campaign opened with said BBEG doing it to the major kingdom the PCs lived in.

To the BBEG's credit, though, the spell was SUPPOSED to be a "Mass Baleful Polymorph" and the populace was supposed to turn into regular old bunnies. But when you get your stupid powerful "Baleful Polymorph" spell from the King of the Fey, anything can happen I suppose.

The BBEG still made the whole kingdom into her slaves though. So it worked out.

Maybe the BBEG needs an entire city worth of bureaucrats and artists, and their best plan for accomplishing this is to make people who can't do anything else.

Buffy wasn't the best show, but it was good. It was a smart deconstruction of a fantasy trope, and it just kept on being smart. Until it hit the last two seasons, which I'd rather forget about.

But is Joss Whedon overrated, though? He manages to consistently turn out shit people love. It's not very smart once you poke through all the snarky humour, sure, but I'm not seeing anyone claiming that he's the next Hitchcock.

>But is Joss Whedon overrated, though? He manages to consistently turn out shit people love.

Until you realize that he keeps writing the same shit over and over again. It's always a "big and scary" villain whose only motivation is being big and scary and who in the end is defeated in a stupid way, usually by some quirky, usually girl character.

Notice how Loki in Avengers was completely different to the one on Thor and how in Thor 2 he was the one who got more screentime because he was *not* the main villain. Whedon's villains are nothing more than targets for the heroes to take down so they look cool and heroic and as a result they are all boring as shit, giving the opposite effect.

Pic very much related.

>>44460647
That's probably true (I haven't seen any of those movies), but I don't see how that's really a problem. The dude makes popcorn movies, mostly. And yes, he has a bit of an obsession with waifish girls kicking butt. But "overrated" would mean that people are ascribing qualities to him that he doesn't have.

I mean, let's take a similar directors: Quentin Tarantino. He basically does the same shit with more blood. Turned out a genuinely smart classic, and then coasted on its success. Constantly puts his sexual obsession in his work. And his greatest strength are his dialogues. Quentin Tarantino is overrated. If people start putting Whedon on his level, then I'd say Whedon is overrated. But the dude wrote one of the most succesful movies of all time, and people are still like "he's OK, I guess". So I'd say he isn't overrated. Just rated.
>>
>>44460681
People had very high opinion of Whedon afer the first Avengers movie, especially among feminists. But after the shitty Thor 2 and Avengers 2 those quickly changed.

As for Tarantino, well... I personally think half of Pulp Fiction is boring, but it's the ending that saves it. He's had his good and bad too. But at least he experiments with genres.
>>
>>44460734
It's not weird for a guy to be popular after delivering what was, at that point, the highest grossing movie ever. Avengers was insanely popular. I can sort of see why feminists would like him, too. At least, until they see his obsession with magical girls is kind of creepy. To his credit, Inara from Firefly was a reaction to executives asking for a "sexy space prostitute" character. It shows Whedon's strength: Subverting existing pop culture tropes.

Probably because Kill Bill is indicative for post-Pulp Fiction Tarantino. Namely, the clown who has finally realized that he has the audience's attention. Tarantino will never make another Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs because with all the affirmation of his supposed brilliance, he thinks everything he does is gold.

Kind of like George Lucas, come to think of it.
>>
>>44461221
you may be right but im going with a more simple theory of when kill bill is on the tv they advertise it around being a tarantino movie while they dont do so for pulp fiction as much.
