You know /tg/, I think we get a bit down too much talking about how shit we think the board has become we seem to pine a lot for the past.

But you know /tg/ there's much worse places you could be so I thought for a bit of of fun we could take part in that most hallowed tradition of grouchy highland hermits at this festive time of year, which is of course to sit on the hills and watch the valley folk drown. Let's have a good old piss taking session at our old "friend" RPG.net who conveniently puts all their comedy gold on display for the world to see.

http://forum.rpg.net/forumdisplay.php?138-Infraction-Forum

Dig deep from their forums and your own folders for any gems from their own or an other site and let's all appreciate some QUALITY moderation and posters.

Let's kick things off by questioning their character.

Every art thread is full of weebshit. Every setting thread is full of "how do I run X anime in this setting, how do I make X anime protag with these rules". Every other quest is some magical girl bullshit.

Eh, from what I hear, 4chan has always been for Weeaboos.

I figure that most weebshit animes are on-par with 40k for quality, and I enjoy 40k, so I can tolerate a few anime faces.

I don't understand the moderation on this site.

I remember seeing Zak S. or someone got banned for sexism, but the admin note was really unclear. He didn't even seem sexist, it's more like the problem was that he was having arguments. Maybe if it's off-topic and massively derails a thread, sure, but it didn't sound that way? I never looked much into it.

I'm fond of http://www.discourse.org/ and http://vanillaforums.org/ if only because by default they assume a fairly minimalistic list of requirements, and despite the fact the former has a lotta social cancer coded in.

That's true. Ocean of piss etc.

I mean, in real life, I'm a pretty politically correct person who will intervene when it comes to sensitive issues. Does Discourse use nested replies? It says it's a "flat forum" but it looks nested in the adjacent animation.

Also is it what Stackoverflow etc. use? I don't like that style of message board, I actually think it's a lot nicer when everything is in clear blocks instead of floating text on the same background. Minimalism sounds good, but it's a lot easier to look at a forum like Something Awful and scan it for different posts than it is to look at nothing but the same text on the same color.

I'm sure you could fix that with themes or whatever, but Vanilla looks like it's a lot nicer out-of-the-box. All I want is something like Invision Board, but modern.

There is a reason I only debate things which are purely factual on RPG.net for a reason, and the rape discussion was one of them.

Summary: When the Abyssal 3e edition preview for exalted was shown, a discussion about consent and rape came up, one guy saying how epic classics used it in a manner that you'd find not insulting. He was permabanned, and in his ban thread it was basically said by the mod staff that rape is one of the things on RPG.net you cannot say any good things about ever. Blasting it is fine, but citing actual evidence from classics was banned.

It remains to this day the dumbest thing I ever read there. I would've been happier if they banned discussion of it altogether.

Interesting that they would defend the Tories. Banhappy circlejerks like this are usually left-wing. Maybe they aren't so partisan as normal liberal circlejerks?

Try making posts supporting UKIP or attacking their supporters. That will test their neutrality.
>>
>>44416710
I think it is less that they are defending the Tories. And more worried that pig fuckers will be offended. It is a valid sexual preference after all.
>>
>>44416710
That would require making an account there. I operate on strict safari rules in threads like these: Look, but don't touch.
>>
>>44416710
Honestly, chances are they don't know enough about non-American politics to determine where torries fall on the progressive-conservative slider.
>>
>>44416839
Being Canadian I instantly knew they were talking about a right-wing party. Up here we also nicknamed our Conservative party the tories, so it also surprised me that a banhappy microfascist mod team like them would defend the fucking tories, of all parties.
>>
>>44416839
Then use Trump or post a news article calling someone right-wing a Nazi. There's plenty of material in The Guardian. Then just report anyone who objects and see if you can get away with agreeing with the smear piece.

>>
>>44416882
That's funny, I'm a Brit and here we nicknamed one of our left-wing parties the Conservatives.
>>
>>44416997
The Conservatives are not left-wing, and you must have fairly extreme right-wing politics for Britain to think that. Or are just cracking a UKIP joke.
>>
>>44416882
Funny how Torries stuck but Whigs mostly hasn't.

I can imagine an alt-future Canada in which we split off much earlier and inherited Roundheads and Cavaliers from England instead of Whiga and Torries. It would make the news funnier, at least.

>>
>>44417134
All those things are centrist politics? Considering yourself heir to a currently active leader of the leftist party less than a decade ago is normal for everyone but the "fairly extreme right"? Gay marriage, which didn't make it into any major party's manifesto, is centrist? Gay marriage, which even the Democrats wouldn't pass and had to be forced in through judicial activism, is centrist and agreed by left and right?

You've literally just called all of American politicians, including Obama, extreme-right, as well as all British politicians/parties as recently as one election ago.
>>
>>44416517
Actually tumblr just calls it shitposting too. You'd be surprised at how much overlap tumblr and 4chan have on their 'sane' sides, with each site having their own extreme 2edgy faggots ie sjw's and /pol/.
>>
>>44417341

Labour under Blair were anything but leftist.

And, well, compared to pretty much anywhere in western Europe mainstream US politics is significantly to the right of mainstream European politics.
>>
>>44417341
I'm only talking about British politics but this post just guarantees there is zero point talking about this as nothing I can say to you, or you to me, will convince the other.

Saying you are the "heir to Blair" is absolutely a centrist move though. Gay marriage is socially liberal and very populist, two things which the modern Tories have never really been terribly against. And certainly you've have to weigh the social freedoms they've granted against the ones they've taken away, e.g. vastly increased personal surveillance.
>>
>>44417432
Well we saw some of the overlap when the anti-SJWs on both united as GG.
>>
>>44417341
In Canada, it is a center policy. Same as health care, which is far left in America.
>>
>>44417474
>Labour under Blair were anything but leftist.

>>
>>44417490
>And certainly you've have to weigh the social freedoms they've granted against the ones they've taken away, e.g. vastly increased personal surveillance.
Except those aren't comparable freedoms. You can't just call them "social freedoms" and pretend they're the same kind of thing. There's negative and positive liberty, and they speak to completely different outlooks on the world.
>>
>>44417562
An agree to disagree thing doesn't mean we move onto some entirely new argument, anon. I wasn't saying those were the same thing, just commenting that while the current administration has given some social freedoms they've taken others away. You're right in that you would classify different freedoms in different ways, of course.
>>

I just wandered back into TT RPG Open for the first time in months. The topic mix was pretty much the same as when I left, aside from a growing trend in attempts to shove Star Wars through the odd and awkward keyholes of many inappropriate systems, and some idort badmouthing the WEG edition for the sole reason that it isn't Gumshoe.

Maybe I'll stop in again in another six months, I see no point in more frequent visits.

Agreed, questfags need to be segregated to a containment board at this point. Pretending to be a little girl on the internet is not a traditional game, neither is freeform adventure path writing. They should be bumped to /lit/ or /ic/ or something, or just be allowed on /a/ where they can squirm around in a pile of beatoff smell and parental disappointment with their peers.
UNfortunately, I think the mods shunted them here

I know you enjoy strawmanning, but don't you think perhaps you should actually make sensible arguments instead of shitposting distorted views of reality to justify your hatred of shit that triggers you?
Pick your venom: /pol/ or tumblr, either one suits you well.

>but you are wrong my strawman is 100% accurate and quests are killing /tg/!
Right now there are 13 quest threads, of 151 total threads in /tg/. This is less than 10%.
Of these 13 threads:
>One is about being an ORK
>One is about commanding an AT-TE
>One is about an (anime) russian cyborg telekinetic
>One is about MAGIIIIC
>One is about Crusading
>One is about Fallout
>One is about a Tank
>Another is about another Tank (?) that is vertical
>The rest is anime/anime girl stuff
>>
>>44424708
And every time that's proven wrong by the sheer amount of quests going on every single day. There's definitely enough traffic, especially if we include things like CYOA, civ, and other threads.
>>
>>44424748
>>44424649
And:
>inb4 but there are 27 threads being hidden muh threads in filter, muh threads in search!
Not all of those are quests.
Requesting/Requests/question... all those words are also gonna show up in the search/filter for "quest".

Hence why the 40K advice thread gets filtered along the quests, because it has "question" in the OP
>>

>>
>>44424765
You are just proving that you know absolutely nothing about the subject matter.

I just checked them:
At least 6 of 13 are over for the day and haven't dropped because /tg/ is a slow board.
If we had a quest board we'd have threads of many weeks ago still standing.
2 of these 6 are gonna be picked up again if they're still around, which is likely....
>because /tg/ is a relattively slow board
>because it isn't being showered with hundreds of quests

I'm now gonna make two guesses:
>you are just making shit up to justify why the community which you participate in is so shitty
>and you need groups to blame it in aside from the fact that people are simply retarded, thus "muh summerfags", "muh questfags".
>>
At the risk of derailing the thread, I confess that I'm starting to fantasize about stripping every single RPG.net moderator of their powers and permanently banning them, all without making an RPG.net account.
