Hey /ig/ im trying to use the grenzer more actively in list. Its kind of tough to fit him in since hes like an intruder, but acts more like a wildcat. Trying to see if there are ways to sneak him into list as a trump card.

The list is shit for ITS tournaments, cool for friendly games. If you are using expesive units (a lot of them) don't use AD troops - you are left with few orders and gonna get raped by more order efficient lists.

Was there ever a consensus on the effects of Viral and Shock on symbiont armor, and the effect of viral on Transmutation, the main questions being:
>Does viral/shock kill 1 W symbiont armor troops instantly, before they can eject from their symbiont armor?
>Does viral prevent dog warriors from transmuting and accessing the extra 2 wounds, killing them immediately, or does it prevent them from transmuting, but still allow them to access the extra two wounds, allowing them to live on in dog-face form?

It's really order starved with two irregular and three AD troops. Consider dropping a Gecko for two reliable skirmishers. Moran are ideal since they give repeaters for your Lt and board control.

Alternatively replace the bs hellcat with two jaguars and jumble up the order pool.

they way we play it is
>it does not kill symbiont armour troops, these models have more then one wound, the act of moving from the active to inactive is just essentially a change in game states
>by preventing transmutation the model just becomes a single one wound model and thus would die because of the shock feature of viral ammo.
>now, straight shock against transmutation wont kill the transmuted form outright because he can still transmute after taking the wound and it doesnt kill symbiont armor troops because its not the actual model taking the hit its his armor
>>
>>44233937
>Symbiont/Transmutation: Shock or Viral ammunition does not instant kill Symbiont Armor or Transmutation troopers. Palanka
>Viral prevents Transmutation specifically by its rules text. So if a model with the Transmutation Skill (for example a 1 Wound Fraacta that has a total of 2 Wounds because of Transmutation) takes 1W from Viral, it will still not be able to transmute and as such will become Unconscious.
>It will not, however, pass directly to the Dead state as written in the Viral entry ("figures with 1W pass directly to dead") as Transmutation still effectivly make it a 2W model. Calmdown

Space Marine equivalency aside, they're also Crusaders and Paladins who fight aliens and literal pagans. They're actually interesting since they take the pseudo-Catholic of 40k and just make it straight up Catholicism...in SPAAAACE!

Yeah, like the fact that one of the biggest reason people go to "Crusades" is that it grants them rights to resurrection, if they perform well. Like Konstantinos, who just wants to resurrect his GF that died in accident (that he cause himself, if memory serves).

Just what do you think needs to be converted from the war-game to the role playing games stat wise? Can you just slap on a few more skill system and be done?

Honestly the base game is detailed enough I can see you just giving the players a unit each to play and in combat and free form the rest from there

It's been pointed out that the actual wargame is too lethal to make players feel empowered in any way. Pretty basic units like Wildcats are also supposed to be pretty bad-ass mercenaries which isn't really represented in the wargame, especially when you've got a model on their own.

So /tg/ I want to start an infinity army so I'm not limited to purely 40k/30k/whfb/Kow (I'm brand new to the game) but I have some issues.

Due to some strange circumstances, It's best for me to buy everything I want at once. It's not viable for me to buy things piecemeal. (going to spend a large amount of time without the ability to buy stuff, etc)

Anyways, I know I want the following-

- a viable 300 point Combined Army force
- With an Anathematic
- and NO models that could appear on the infinity ass collage.

From what I know, I need an LT (leaning towards the Skiavoros) and a Hacker.

I'd prefer to go as elite-as-possible (it was this or start a Grey Knights force for 40k) but it appears that the order pool system makes that not very viable.

So, what models should I buy?

Slapping on a load of extra hit points just makes everything feel meatier.

I think Mophidius is on the right track. Giving more hit points, more actions that may be taken, more dice being flung around, etc. The social mechanics (intimidation and the like) feel a little shoehorned and odd, but it's probably better to overdo a particular mechanic than half-ass it.

The thing I'm mostly looking forward to with the RPG is all the additional fluff and hard numbers regarding the capabilities and aspects of different TAGS. I wanna know how much water and food storage there is for the operator, what the interior is like, how strong they are, etc.
>>
>>44252149
Well I think it's interesting compared to that other poplar war game that got a role playing convert.

That game jump to from the d6 to percentile base system so that maths is all ready out.

Infinity is all ready a d20 based system so it shouldn't be to much of change between the two.
>>
>>44251781
Anathematic, CA Starter Pack, Ikadron and Imetron kit. Whatever else you want, really. There's a lot of viable builds you can do for Infinity, and there are no real dead units.

Skiavoros, Charontid and Avatar comes to mind for making things elite. You could also opt for a Sogarat.

I guess you don't like cheesecake (everyone to their own) but infested Ko Dali is pretty amazing AD unit.
>>
>>44253708
My initial goal was to start start a tyranid army, but I wanted it to be elite (and that means going flyrant centric) so it became difficult to build, and people were starting infinity near me.

Basically, I wanted an army that's as non-human and elite as possible. Having a model that is part of the ass collage doesn't help with that.

Also, I was told it's not viable to have either 2 anathematics or 1 and an Avatar in a single list, I assume because then I won't have enough orders?

I really don't like the order pool system.
>>
>>44253835
Isn't "elite" Tyranid like double FOC with four flyrants or something? Anyways...

You might not like the order pool, but that's like not liking the Stack in MTG or D6-base of 40k - it's central to the gameplay, and you'll need to play with it. I'm a huge fan of small elite strike forces and I play Aleph with 8-12 models. You need something to actually support your big dudes besides just giving it more orders; establishing fire lanes, providing cover fire, etc.

You could totally play with what you said; you'd need to cheapen out on your support to field them, but you could put up a good fight in YAMS or other.

Orders and ARO is a big thing in Infinity - and I don't know about investing in a war game you won't enjoy...
>>

Speaking of Military Orders, I had two games today with this list. Purely for fun, so no powerlists on the opposing sides, USAriadna and Observance Bakunin.
While De Fersen and the Magister link performed reasonably well and Konstantinos rocked the house (killed Kusanagi, a Healer and a Moira from the linkteam in one game), the Seraph was an utter disappointment.
So I plan on replacing it with some other troops, but I'm not sure with what...

Hey, guys, I know it may sounds silly, but...
You remember this wiki, 1d4chan? The one 40kiddies always come to next and then come into 40K threads with their stale memes, but at least usually have a general idea what the units are and how are they supposed to work.

I saw some people willing to write articles about USARF Grunts alone. How about we use the fact that this wiki is free to edit and maybe add unit breakdowns for each faction, with vanilla description first and below a clear "[Sectoral name]: In [Sectoral name] this unit behaves thus (...)", all as nice bullet points. Maybe even tactics.

I noticed a lot of people come to these threads with intention to start playing and ask for basic stuff, like "are bolts worth it, which unit should I use as specialists, do I need a hacker" etc. I think we could use the wiki to answer this.
>>

Something I'd encourage you to experiment a lot with is combat doctors. It's great to be slaying on one side of the field and healing through Nasmats on the other- Muyibs, Khawarij and Asawira doctors are all highly capable combatants on top of their healing abilities.

Also, if I need an engineer I've never run a Najarun- Kaplan engineers are superb.

Needs more terrain/10

It might be easier to use a white felt sheet or something and make the base of the board snow. You've certainly got a lot of nonsnow areas, so it's not like there'll be too much, visually.

What sort of effect were you after? Zones for in game effects, visual appeal, board theme, etc?

I wanted a mountainious craggy outpost.

I also wanted a board that could work with many different games. One that looked nice but also modular. I've considered snowing up the base of the board, but I feel like that would take away from the modular nature.

I have a crashed dropship which you're going to love, but first step getting down a cohesive board.

Actually fuck it. I'm going to desnow the whole thing...

You could make smaller circles of white felt. Glue some rocks or smaller items to it. Maybe cut a hole into it, glue it to some card, and use the hole to glue something frozen-lake like?
>desnowing
At least the core stuff isn't very snowish.

use the building that came with the scenery pack. place them on the ends. move the large rock formation just off the very middle of the table. but yeah, you need more lof blockage

Making full on Tacticas is a bit daunting since there are 8 vanilla factions and 15 Sectorials. As you alluded to, a model's role can vary widely in a Sectorial from in the vanilla.

Add in the Infinity Forums do have legit tacticas, it comes with the question why reinvent the wheel?

Forums are a bit difficult to navigate and often have outdated info. Also how many different forums? Last good unit breakdown I saw for PanO was on Dakka Dakka and it was N2.
Wikis are easier to manage and update. Also it's good to have everything in one easy to find place.

I may start this myself regardless if anyone wishes to join me, though my knowledge is a bit limited. But someone has to make the first step...

Elite tyranid is basically 3-5 Flyrants, spores for troops, and multi wound models in all other slots.

Conceptually I don't like the order pooling system, as it seems wierd that you can have 15 people with their thumbs up their ass making your monster move faster.

"Fuck cautious movement: the board"

You're forgetting the other big game element: the Reactive Turn. Conceptually, those other 15 people are locking down corridors, holding rooms, and watching backs while the specialist hacks the console, or the hero kicks down a door, or the assassin takes out the target. Hell, even in game terms it often works that way.

I'm fairly excited, largely because I've got players who actually want to play it.

I'd recommend taking a look at the quickstart rules. They're not doing a conversion of the tabletop rules at all, it's based on Modiphius' own proprietary system. That said, it's quite good from what I've played and should work out well.

They are apparently releasing rules to convert your RPG character to a unit for the tabletop which sounds like a ton of fun.

That is always a tricky part of converting a wargame to an RPG. I hope they do expand the powerlevels so that mid-tier units like Wildcats get fair representation.

>>44252149
Pretty much. I'm not too concerned about the social mechanics. That's something that doesn't factor into the tabletop at all, but fluff-wise should be a big part of Infinity. So I'm glad there will be good support for it.

I think that's what excites me most about the RPG is getting to experience the cool portions of the Infinity universe that don't fit into the wargame.

Hey guys I'll be in Spain for a few days during February, possibly in Madrid and Barcelona and I wanted to see if I could buy some Infinity starter sets (namely, Nomads starter, Morat Aggression Force starter and Steel Phalanx starter). I'm not from Europe, and I'm aware that Corvus Belli doesn't have special 'Infinity stores' or something. Where could I get these starters?

Out of curiosity where are you from? I can't imagine many comments don't have hobby stores

Argentina. We've had lots of trouble with importations during this time, and we also have a shitty money exchange rate, so Infinity figures are actually pretty fucking expensive for me.

Having them shipped to me overseas is fucking risky, because the minis will probably remain in the customs house for a while, and may disappear 'mysteriously' if any of the custom workers in charge of receiving them like them a bit.

I can get Warhammer, historical, and lots of miniatures with no problems, but Infinity I can only get metal copies of the oldest miniatures here.
