Almost everything looks cool, but fuck me if that ramming is not horrible when the ship doesn't explode. It just...bounces off the hull of the ramming one.

Do Necrons have enough variety as a fifth faction? Do Dark Eldar have too little?
>>

Necrons probably have enough ships to be playable, it's highly unlikely we'll get the entire Imperial and Chaos fleets to be playable anyway. The Delfdars never had more than two ships though.

I'd love a bigger Delfdar fleet, you could do a ton with the various dark eldar sub-factions.

I dunno, I was surprised to see the Carrier variants of the Dauntless in the OP video, and at the end you can see what looks like one of the Space Marine escorts. With the customization they're promising, I would think we could use just about every variant out there.

As long as I get to apply Oberon to Chaos, Eldar and Ork scum, I'll be content.
>>
>>44208562
>>44208598
>>44208623
I think Necrons and Tyranids should be the expansion races. They have enough ships and look very visually different from the Imperial and Chaos ones to add some much needed visual variety.

>>44208329
Probably not substantially. They still have giant croissants made of rape and "fuck you". It's just that the commander may occasionally screech "MY DEAR LADY" over the vox at the enemy commanders.
>>
>>44208562

DE are one of the most varied and technologically advances races in the setting, while necrons are so advanced they have pretty much nothing left to discover.

Necron ships would be my dream.

I would love to see a Cairn class tearing up a Chaos fleet.
>>
>>44208889

That really has more to do with the attention each faction gets rather than the factions themselves.
>>
>>44208342
I was referring to the fact that that Warp says that their ships are are "slow burning tomb ships" that rely on the Webway to travel around ir else the Necrons will be doomed to isolation.
>>
>>44210474
So what?
>>
>>44210595
So Necrons were meant to be FTL kings capable of taking Einsteins law of relativity and laughing at it
>>
>>44206947
>that attempt to make his voice deeper

And it gets less as the video goes on. If you aren't James Earl Jones don't try
>>
>>44210907
What point are you trying to make exactly?
>>
>>44210907
Good thing Ward made them better.
>>
>>44210970
>>44211195
No, the anon has a point. BFG Necrons rely on pre ward zero-inertia drives, which directly translated into gameplay mechanics.

Now though, Newcron starship technology has been massively retconned to the point it no longer resembles how it did in BFG. This means hey would either have to implement Necrons as they were in BFG and ignore the retcon, or rework the entire fleet and change the entire character of their gameplay.
>>
>>44211416
>or rework the entire fleet and change the entire character of their gameplay.

They would have to do this anyway, because Necrons were broken and boring OP shit.

Buy Ward did not retcon Necrons having fast ship on the scale of BFG, they're just slow on an interstellar scale.
>>
>>44211463
True, but he retconned the inertialess drive, which was what let the Necrons pull off the rapid turns and high speed that they have in BFG. Sure, they could say that the ID is only practical at a smaller scale, but that's getting close to a complete about face like they did with Tau and the sleeper ship/Warp skimming business.
>>
>>44211516
>Sure, they could say that the ID is only practical at a smaller scale, but that's getting close to a complete about face like they did with Tau and the sleeper ship/Warp skimming business.

Not really.
The portrayal of Necron fleets did not really change. Check the Fall of Orpheus or the Shield of Baal. They are still capable of crazy acceleration and the like.

The only way they would be different on in Gothic would be the fact that they now have shields.
>>
>>44211516
>>44211573
>inertialess drive

Shield of Baal says they still have those.
>>
>Race that supposedly mastered physical space via extreme science cannot accelerate beyond the speed of light

People will defend this
>>
>>44211747
It's never said they can't accelerate beyond the speed of light.
But even if you can go ten times faster than light speed it would still take then thousand years to cross the galaxy.
>>
>>44211747
I thought it was said that they could, but they couldn't get past spacial relativity, and so the "years" spent at C was considered an insult to lords for having to wait so long to get to their destination?
>>
>>44211853
The only thing said is that the Necrons would doomed to isolation without the Webway which raises the question of how did the Necrontyr and Necron galactic empire work before the Dolmen gates, let alone wage a galaxy-wide war

It's crappy writing at its finest.
>>
>>44211937
>which raises the question of how did the Necrontyr and Necron galactic empire work before the Dolmen gates, let alone wage a galaxy-wide war

Slow stasis ships.
>>
>>44211974
Nah, the Necrontyr and Necrons are doomed to isolation. They couldn't expand or forge a galactic empire with those things.
>>
>>44211937
>>44211974
The torch ships were just the initial wave. Once established on a planet, they had instantaneous warp gates that kicked the shit out of the webway. The problem was you had to have physical gates at both locations, so it was extremely inflexible during a war. Dolmen Gates are slower but allowed for more flexibility and hijacking of the Eldar's movements.

Fast-forward 60 million years and the old gate system is destroyed, so the option became try to reestablish it with torch ships, or keep using Dolmen gates. They chose the latter.
>>
>>44212030
But they did. Isolation doesn't necessarily mean no contact ever.
There are plenty of isolated places you can go to even now on Earth.

What about eternity Gates, deployable wormholes, and that Phasing network from "Hammer and Anvil"?
>>
>>44212145
Explain Eternity Gates than.

Explain the big glowing gateway on every monolith that can transport in necrons from other tomb worlds.
>>
>>44212256
>What about eternity Gates, deployable wormholes

Showed to be less powerful webway tech in hammer and Anvil.

>Phasing network

Used for transport of information. Unlikely to be able to be used by Necrontyr before before becoming Necrons. It was likely their system of instantaneous information exchange that allowed the Necron Empire to function despite their slow going ships.

>>44212299
>Explain Eternity Gates than.

Webway based.
>>
>>44212088
>But they did

Due to inconsistent bad writing. The events in Necron lore couldn't happen with them being DOOMED to isolation. Necrontyr empire should be the size of the Tau Empire or perhaps even smaller if they didn't luck out like the Tau and started in a hyper dense cluster of stars.
>>
>>44212346
>Due to inconsistent bad writing.

Nope, it all works out. Just not in a way you like.
>>
>>44212329
>Used for transport of information.

It transported both Necron information AND the Necron body.

>Webway based.

Proof?
>>
>>44212346
The inconsistency means it happened regardless. You say they only had torch ships and so couldn't have had a giant empire. They did anyway, meaning there's some piece of the story that we're not being told.

This is no different from Dorn being killed by cultists. People say, "That couldn't have possibly happened!" Well it did, again, meaning there's some part of the story that we're not being told.
>>
>>44212367
I disagree. It doesn't work at all.
>>
>Every necron, from the lowliest of scarabs maintaining the tombs to the exalted lordship of Great Imotekh himself, carried in their braincase a communion link. The device allowed signalling over near-infinite distances, the ability to transmit data instantly through the arcane control of quantum entanglement phenomena.

>Khaygis knew of some lesser species that spoke of ethereal cords connecting their physical forms in the real world with their spiritual ones in the phantasmal. That was idiocy, of course, but the Stargods had gifted the necrontyr with many technologies when they embraced biotransference, and this link was one of them, a near-literal expression of that mystical ideal. Each necron was connected in part or in whole to an invisible network that spanned the galaxy, broken only by lines of dynasty and fealty. When their physical structures suffered critical levels of damage, it was the quantum link that was the means by which their digital consciousness and their damaged forms were reeled back to the closest World Engine or Tomb Planet.

Here is the text from the novel "Hammer and Anvil".

Notice "by which their digital consciousness and their damaged forms were reeled back to the closest World Engine or Tomb Planet".
>>
>>44212373
>It transported both Necron information AND the Necron body.

Necron bodies have been shown to do that already. Necron metal can be reassembled from very little. Necrontyr bodies likely could not.

>Proof?

Hammer and Anvil. When they go through the Eternity Gate and then later when they see the Dolmen gate.
>>
>>44207602
argh no why this argh now i want to redo my BFG Eldar fleet AGAIN.
>>
>>44212406
Again, just because you don't like it.
>>
>>44212405
>inconsistency

It's bad writing to leave holes in the narrative and never fix them. It gets worse than they left that glaring hole in Necron lore for several editions.

What happened to Dorn id a mystery that doesn't have impact on 40K. How the Necrontyr/Necrons travelled/travel and established their empire is something important to the 40K setting.
>>
>>44212508
I don't like bad writing. Sue me.

>>

>>
>>44212621
Passing through the Eternity Gate:

>This portal, this alien gateway, was not meant for unprotected humans, and she could sense it trying to reject her. Miriya felt as if the power of the thing was actively repelling her flesh and blood, acting on it like the disparate poles of a magnet. Her skin crawled with sickening sensations that threatened to crack the Battle Sister’s iron resolve. This tunnel through nothingness skirted close to the psychic maelstrom of warp space, and she could feel the incredible pressure of the immaterium just beyond the walls of her own mind. It was so close.

Seeing the Dolmen Gate:

>Cassandra was the first to make the leap of concept. ‘It is another portal.’ She glanced at the hooded woman and the revenant nodded once.
>‘Very different to the simple doorways we passed through,’ she intoned. ‘This is an engine of transmission far more powerful, capable of instantaneous conduction across vast tracts of interstellar space. A Dolmen Gate.’
