I build all of my wife's decks.
Recently I built her a Rakdos deck that was exclusively Imps and Rakdos, Lord of Riots.
When you're not prepared for it, a deck with almost all Flying creatures and Burn spells can really hurt, especially when they start taking cards out of your hand.
I'd say if my wife can beat me with a deck I made, I did pretty well.

Partner is a new teacher, had a tough time with a horrid school in the area, transferred to a newly created one in the area and gets to set her own agenda and have greater control in the formation of the school at this stage (we're young, so this is more than generous at this point in her career).
Yes, kids can be shits, mostly the parent's to fault for this (so watch yourselves). But the job environment can be gratifying for those with the right head on their shoulders. I have a few friends who tried it, and admitted it wasn't for them.

It's not about letting them win, its about moving at a reasonable pace. When I introduce new people to mtg I don't go all out. I give them time to make and take back moves, explain how each of their moves work.
On my turn I spend more focus looking for ways to introduce new elements of the game to them than I do on fucking them up.
Sometimes they win, mostly they lose but ether way they know how and why. That's the most important thing because now they can actually start playing.
