He may not be strong enough to knockdown his opponents in one punch, but he sure can stay in the fight long enough to be paid for good show by dwarven cartel that organizes those fake competitions. He developed a fairy dust habit recently, and along with his plump helmet vodka addiction it promises to end his career soon enough. In fact, his only daughter from his wife that died in the orc raid left him for the Arcane Academy. And the cartel is not happy to lose its prized fighter, especially when he owes them a lot of money for his drugs.

Can Morin defeat his deadly addiction, or will it spiral out of control, taking both his career and his life?

To pass the days of his youth, he asked his father to bring him books from the library ever since he could read, a request his father gladly fulfilled. When the day came for him to get a job of his own, he became his father's apprentice until the day the leader of the local mage's guild walked into the library. They ended up discussing the nature of magic itself after mere minutes of talking, with the boy showing impressive mental capabilities. The guild took him under their wings to further strenghen these abilities. Some say he just might go on and become the youngest guild master ever.

Mila is a big woman. So big, in fact, that no man ever dared to court her. She towers above all around her. As a noblewoman nearing her 30s and with no prospect for marriage she could soon find herself in a nunnery. Deciding to take her fate into her own hands she has turned to adventuring, using what little money she had to buy a sword and a suit of armor. Having been taught fencing as a past time she has some minimal competency in combat.

Prodigious size and sheer stubbornness make Mila hard to take down but she is otherwise unremarkable. Though strong for a woman she is still weaker than most men.

Or are talking about characters we've actually played in 3d6-in-order campaigns? Because I did that once.

We were playing AD&D, real old-school shit. I managed to roll 17 Charisma, but I still didn't qualify to be a bard because apparently to be a bard in AD&D you had to be the fucking Homo Superior. So I had to be a magic-user who just wrote songs a lot. And the party was just me, another magic-user who was too weak to qualify for any other class, and a fighter who quit after the first session. So it was two bumbling magic-users trying to make their way in a brutal world. We did a lot of running for our lives. In fact, nobody ever hired us to go on adventures; we just kept running and getting lost. I wrote some songs about it.

If I can multiclass, I'll do something interesting like a half-elf cleric / thief. She a priestess to the goddess of good fortune and trickery. Only most folks don't know about her second aspect, so my character poses as a pure and virtuous cleric, when really she's up to no good. It's the perfect guise. She's the face of the party when they need to seem innocent or seek charity. She wears a loose-fitting robe that can be easily cast off to cover up traces of her thiefly profession. I see her with black hair cut in a pageboy fashion and an avaricious twinkle in her eye, but a friendly, seemly ingenuous smile, that's carefully practiced to be disarming. She wears leather armor under her cast-off robe, and carries all manner of knives (often for throwing) to back up the mace that's her primary weapon. While her dexterity is good, she often depends on her wits (wisdom) and resilience (constitution) to carry her through.

A young woman who grew up on the street but was taken in by an acting troupe. Growing up a performer she learned many skills such as acting, stage fighting, and even proper swordplay. Later in life as a young adult when she was performing a show a young noble boy became infatuated with her and begged his father to hire her as the boy's personal sword teacher. She spent a couple years in the service of the family, teasing the young boy for his affections but ultimately grew to cherish and love the boy as a little brother or a son. Tragedy struck when a power play by a rival noble found the young boy crippled in a botched assassination/kidnapping.
The young woman swore that she would seek revenge against those that attacked her charge. The boys father bequeaths her with one of the family's heirloom treasures: armor made of red dragon's scales. She fights with all her will to bring pain to those who did her harm, knowing full well how numerous, well connected, and powerful they may be.

I would probably pick Magic-User, since this character doesn't get a CON, STR or even DEX bonus by LotFP rules, but the lack of a weakness makes me think of trash fantasy elves. Rolling the elf's 1st lvl spell and HP...

Chadrick the Gangly is a perpetual second-circle acolyte of the College of the Void at the Academia Oscura. His wizard's sanctum is located in the basement of his mother's house just off Matriculant Square, but at least appears cluttered with proper occult paraphernalia - until you look a little closer.
His walls are plastered with folio prints of succubi and dryads (and one rather strapping centaur tucked low in the far corner) ripped out of discarded bestiaries, and his shelves are crammed full of miniatures of similar scantily clad fiends alongside some of the more renowned alumni of the Academia ("They're not dolls, mom, they're arcane foci!").
In fact the only functional piece of magical equipment in the sanctum is Chadrick's scrying basin, over which he sits bent every night, loitering in the seedier sub-realms of the ætheric nexus, sharing conjured images of nubile demonesses in nun outfits and Sending angry messages about how the Elves are controlling the magocracy behind the scenes.

When Sye walks through the streets of the human border towns with an utter self-confidence. She claims to be elven nobility, although the exact nature of her status is inconsistent in her descriptions. She will demand to be treated as such, although never from people with more power and influence than her. Everybody knows she uses the ancient tree climbing magic of her folk to steal trinkets, coins and kisses, but fear of diplomatic disaster, the peasantry's respect for blueblooded bullies and her skills have helped her avoid the consequences so far. She's little more than a self-absorbed street punk, and all her attempts to appear as more are shallow lies on a probably short road to the grave. Still, she attracts people who have even less to loose. Even people who should know better are fascinated. Slowly, she builds a mercenary army.

As usual, there are circumstances that made her like that. Her parents' aren't nobles, of course. Their not dead or evil or special in any way, either: They still sit at their middle class tree home and wait for her without much worry.
There is a curse or spell or just the natural order of an unimportant elf village over Sye's home: nothing changes. Nothing evolves. Things only die and deterioate very slowly, and this is the only way to determine the passing of time. This sickens her. This drives her to carry a axe.

Oh, he certainly could make something of himself. Possibly a passable INT-fighter-archer, I dunno. But he just doesn't have the guts (low WIS/average CHA) to leave the College and find a real future.
That is, until the Party busts in through the main lecture hall one day, punching their way through the faculty in the process of exposing the secret College of the Profane.
Chadrick is conveniently present to be roped in by the Party's Bard, along with some other students, basically raising a mob to be wand fodder as they storm the faculty crypts to wipe out the resident death cult.
Chadrick survives long enough (DEX and average CON) to be picked up as PC by the player whose druid got croaked in the boss battle. Three sessions later he dies doing what he loves, getting tentacle raped by a Lust demon.

Claudio was the son of a locksmith, who enjoyed fiddling with all the locks his father made growing up - even helping him shore up some weaknesses in the locks made. He liked to take things apart, and loved the intricacy of mechanical oddities that he always managed to take apart and put back together. He always had to have something in his hand, be it knives, pebbles, or dice. It was the dice that landed him in debt to the thieves guild, and it was the thieves guild that landed him a role as a thief for hire, helping to keep adventurer's heads on his shoulders. He never did manual labor growing up, but he respects an honest day's work, and so doesn't cheat his employers, nor the guild - he wouldn't really know what to with all the money beside gamble it away, anyway. And he's getting all the thrills he needs staying alive in the dungeon, and he gets to work with his passion, too.

So Claudio is in a good place, despite being a perpetually weak, dumb, gullible, debt-ridden son of a bitch. I'm happy for Claudio, I hope he makes it out okay.

Thomas Hamilton grew up the fifth son of a farmer ten miles from the nearest town and fifty from anywhere you've ever heard of. He was a quiet boy, always doing his chores silently, his eyes rarely looking up to meet eyes with anyone. Most folk thought he was a little touched in the head, not 'slow' but not exactly like the rest of us. As years passed silence turned to stoicism, and when he spoke it held the weight of long thought and contemplation.

It was in his twenty-second year, on a regular trip to town for supplies, that he encountered the peddler. The man claimed to have traveled the world and seen its wonders, and was selling rare baubles, fine goods, and even potions from across the globe for a 'reasonable' price. Thomas watched as the crowd began to examine the many treasures, farmers and their wives debating how much they could afford, given the poor harvest of the past year. The traveler only smiled, and Thomas' brow furrowed.

Later that evening as the peddler was being served drinks and telling stories at the local pub, Thomas searched his cart and found crates of these 'rare and unique' items, with notes from the forgers who were supplying them. He calmly entered the pub, and with a few soft-spoken words revealed the deception to the town. The con artist protested, claimed it was all a sham, but the villagers saw the hard look in Thomas' eyes, and within minutes the man was in chains.

No-one thanked Thomas for what he did, nor did he ask for thanks. A few days later the mayor gave Thomas the con artist's cart and horse, saying it was only fair after what he did, and the young man left town the next day. You might run into him if you're searching for swindlers, or if you're in need of a good investigator.

Thomas Hamilton is a Lawful Good Male Human Commoner 1 / Expert 3 with 15 HP and trained with Animal Handling, Insight, Investigation, and Perception.

Ranger? Yeah, I'm gonna have to say ranger.

Arrias grew up living in the woods. Well... he did have a home, and his parents did live there, but every hour of daylight, and some of moonlight, found the boy roaming the woods. His father saw talent in him early and gifted him a bow on his up on reaching his 10th year. In time, Arrias became quite a shot as he roamed the forest, but his untamable sense of adventure left him little time to learn more about the nature around him. Grown now, and tired of the woods he's now explored for the past 19 years, he gathers his few belongings and a horse raised with his father and sets out to find new wilderness to explore.

Jack was eager for a chance to make up for his weak body and become something fast and strong, and took to the training well.

This guy is a civi who's been working the same Manuel labor job for a long ass time. His peers would see him as a clumsy and forgetful idiot, and he would understand why. He can't remember a set of instructions for more than two seconds, has broken things on many occasions, and still doesn't know the words for all the tools and tasks despite his time working there.
Despite all of that He's among the best workers on the team because of his sheer tenacity. He would stay at the site to work overtime and Never slack off. If he could see anything that he could do he would do it and If he saw anyone that needed help he would help them. If he saw nothing that he could do to help, the he would ask for something even when no one else was working.
He would be just as willing to do the hard work as the easy work. Most of his peers were stronger than him, but he would carry the same loads. and on a bad day he would eventually reach the levels of exhaustion that would cause others to quit but not him.
The reason he does it is because It's his job and It's what he's supposed to do. He want's to give something back to the world around him and he wants to feel useful and competent. He just couldn't explain it.
It's certainty not about acceptance, he gets plenty of respect from his workmates because of his work ethic, but they would still think of him as a pretty cool any funny guy if he was lazier. Plus he's not an asshole, the closest he ever comes to asking people to work harder is when he asks for help. He generally goes quite if a conversation moves into complex topics but he can sometimes say intelligent things, though his comments are almost never properly articulated.
To him, the people at his job are like family, he really looks up to his friends, workmates, god, and authority as guiding figures in his life and is a happy person.

as an adventurer he'd be a cleric with pretty much the same personality.

Don the Conquerer's got pretty much everything on his side. He's got incredible strength, skill, smarts, will, and fortitude... and he's not bad to look at either. He never found anything he wasn't good at, and adventuring was no exception. One day he decided "I haven't fucked up yet, why not try taking a country over?" So he hired an army's worth of adventurers, mercenaries, and general rabblerousers with the fortune he'd made and tried his hand at it. As the title tells, he was quite successful.

Douglas could have been a good soldier if he had been born to a lesser family. But good wasn't good enough for the Wickwark family.

His name could have gotten him an officer rank in the military. But unfortunately he has the common sense of the 6th son of a pig farmer and the charisma of one of the pigs.

Fortunately he had a good mind, but alas lacked the obsessiveness that great wizards possess. he was too fond of a good brawl as well and not half bad.

Fortunately they found some middle ground. they pulled in a few favours, paid a large amount of gold and had him taught by the Elven conclave nearby town.

He would do well as a Duskblade. He would make his fortune, defeat threats to the Empire and bring honour to the name Warwick.

Or die trying, either way he would no longer be an embarrassment.
