Wizards hates RW for an obvious reason.
RW is popular, especially among new players. People naturally gravitate towards that color combination, even if the cards for it aren't that great.
Why? My guess is that RW includes the two most popular creature types, Angels and Dragons, and is the combination of Fire magic (always popular) and being the Good guy.
It's a bizarre phenomena that Wizards understands, and it sees no reason to help those color be more attractive than they are. It sort of like how Wizards realized that no one like green, so they started printing a lot of powerful green cards.

I remember when I started playing and a friend of mine who played mtg for more time had cast a counterspell on me, I felt bad, cheated(since it was a high cmc card countered, and I never knew a card like that existed), and most of all, it took all the fun I had that match.
This is probaly why blue control is not really something most people start with, if you are playing it, you will most likely fuck it up. and if you are playing against, you will feel bad because your opponent is not trying to build anything, his objective is to fuck whatever awesome stuff your trying to do.

well it is a dumb playstyle and I doubt, very much so, originally that the way people play Control decks was ever something Wizards wanted to be.
now of course they make and balance the game around it, but it is a queer mutation of the cardgame if you look at it from the start.
the developers were probably highly annoyed that people just loaded decks up with counterspells and kill spells and 1 win condition.
even now playing against it is entirely different than any other decktype, its like playing an entirely different game, and the players who like control are entirely different players.
if I out-grind and out-value a midrange or aggro player with my midrange/aggro/combo/tempo deck, they are fine with it, it was a "good game"
if I out value a control deck they get visibly frustrated, like say when i'm playing Abzan rally right now, when I draw 13 cards and dump a ton of creatures into the grave at the end of the turn and then Rally on their upkeep they get pissed.

That's mostly due to many control players being dicks. Control is the best playstyle tm and requires the most skill tm and all the pros like luis scott memeus play blue all the time so many control players think they are the hot shit only because they are playing that deck. It's pretty funny seeing many players in my local meta playing jeskai black and thinking they are the hot shit but none of them won an fnm yet because they can barely play the deck correctly, yet those are the ones who complain about losing to the midrange or aggro flavor of the month because they were digging for responses the whole game and didn't find them. I mean maybe it's just a thing here but i just feel like control has the most crybaby players out of all the playstyles.
