So, how many of you actually own a proper GW team?

My Orcs are a mix of 40k and Fantasy from about 2005, so no nice new Orks or plastic Black Orcs, my Chaos are the old plastic Warriors and one-piece Beastmen with a Warhammer Quest Mino, and my Khemri are Heroquest Mummies and the first plastic Skeletons.

I have a couple of the Star Players and a few metal Orcs and that's it.

Not me, I do have a full roster of Escher +ton of Juves. I'm super excited for specialist games getting some love again. Maybe I'll buy a team if there are rereleases.

Yeah, since Necromunda is pretty unique and you can't just use 40k models, I have:

New edition? I really don't. Most of the Design Studio that made GW so good has moved on. Imagine a new Blood Bowl, that was like how Dreadfleet is to Man o' War, i.e. "captures the spirit" in a wank boxset, and we know GW has a hard-on for boxsets. Terrifying.

New plastic kits or resin casts of the old stuff, since this new team is under Forge World? Yes fuck yes. I haven't bought from GW since the plastic Baneblade became a thing but I could change that then.

How many pieces start with frenzy? The ones I would think up first are the DElves Witches, the Troll Slayer, and the Minotaur. The Witch Elf makes sense, the D Elves rely on a running game but are agile so they like to run up the side of the pitch and the witch forces teams to give them a wider birth than they otherwise would. Most of the time I see teams with only 1 witch elf.

Dorfs take the opposite approach. Almost everyone uses 2 troll slayers (only rarely see less than that and it is usually due to injury). to force teams away from both edges of the pitch (where as the witch just has to force them away from the attacking edge). And into dorf country where AV9, thick skull, block, and guard will give the Dorfs the advantage.

The weird one is the Minotaur. First, Chaos has so much punch, 2/3rds of teams don't even use the big guy. But more to the point, the team is more mobile than Dorfs (Chaos Warriors are one of the most mobile St 4 players when you consider movement and ability to dodge). But not as dodgy as the Elves. While horns would make a good blitzer, having horns and strength access on every lineman makes having a big guy who NEEDS to blitz redundant. Therefore you see a lot more claw and tentacles on Minotaurs than juggernaut surfer Minotaur. Because at ST4 with blitz and strength access, a beastman would make a better surfer, but Chaos doesn't need a surfer to generate casualties, contain offenses, or bust holes for ball carriers.

Khorne have Frenzy on everything except the Bloodletters. Khorne rule the sidelines. Most bashy teams drive straight up the middle but with Khorne it's always worth considering a side drive because your opponent may well have troubles boxing you in (either from you pushing his blockers off the pitch, or because he's worried about that happening and soft-pedals his defence).

Norse have up to five Frenzy players: 2 Werewolves, 2 Berserkers and 1 Yhetee. They're another team that are strong by the sidelines, though a basic central drive is still best for them IMO. Most teams will take the four regular players, but the Yhetee is a matter of taste (for the record I don't like the Yhetee at all; AV8 and Wild Animal, Loner too, and start with Claw instead of Mighty Blow).

The Necromantic team has the two Werewolves (different ones to the Norse kind) and those are their star players. Fast, start with Claw, have GA access, and with M8 and AG3 one is often used as ball carrier to get SP while the other one goes blitzing each turn. I've never seen a Necro team that didn't have both Werewolves unless it was due to injury.

Chaos Dwarves get a Minotaur that's similar to the Chaos one (but only mutations on doubles), they're rarely taken though. I'd have to dissent with popular opinion here - I quite like the Minotaur, especially when the replacement would be a shitty Hobgoblin (who admittedly are expendable foulers).

The Minotaur in a CD team is fine, it's St5 (6 on the blitz due to Horns) with frenzy, wild animal (the least damaging of the big guy nega-traits) and Mighty Blow.
Sure, you don't buy him first or anything. You concentrate on your Bull Centaurs for those first few games, but he is a solid addition to lineup.

His only real downsides are his AV of 8, relatively low speed and the fact he doesn't get easy access to Mutations like the Chaos Mino does.

To be honest I think the 1 ghoul/1 wolf Necro style is better - starting with a dodge ghoul gives you a player with some mobility and it's much easier to protect one wolf.

NAF league is the best league for crazy times. I've seen the craziest plays from newer players like passing to a troll and using horns to 1d a big guy just because they can. The best game I had was in skittles league though as mirror humans, we had 4-5 cas each and had less players on the pitch as the game went on.

I can settle for that. I was originally going to use this guy from Reaper Bones until someone gave me the WHQ one. Even snipped out his axe and all the handle in his hand, its going to be a bitch to reassemble, as I quite now like the idea of a "good" Minotaur adventurer model.

I had two team rerolls. I misclicked into two gfi's in turn 2 and turn 3 of the half and rolled a 1 on both. I had to use a reroll because the results of the knockdown/turnover would have been disastrous. Those were the only gfi's I accidentally clicked. I don't know what doesn't work.

Probably Elves versus Khemri. Was just fun to watch really.

Really well. Mostly due to my higher than average rolls and Helm's abysmal luck on bloodlust rolls and injury rolls.

hard to say really. A part of me really enjoyed the goblins match just because its fun to watch goblins do their thing. I've unfortunately missed a lot of matches but all the ones I've seen were fun.

I managed to tie as Khemri vs Woodelves. I feel like I shouldn't have and it involved crazy, kamikaze risks on my end but I'm glad it made for good watching. Still tons of fun and it helped me really understand how fumbbl and my team works. Learned a lot. I'm glad I got that coach in particular for my first opponent. He is a cool guy.

I am terrified. I am very concerned about the mobility of my team. Mostly I am concerned how about I kept last game to 0-0 due to a willingness to make stupid decisions, and that if I stop now, Nuffle will abandon me completely. So I'm sure that will make for good watching at least. I think if I manage to keep my head together my team might have a chance at going all the way to the cup.

Uphill battle of my Dark Elves against Necromantic. Dice not completely in my favour - my Runner got KOed and stayed down for pretty much the entire match; but I think the crucial mistake on review was not committing all out to a pass play when I was behind (with a screened passer pushing one sideline).

Definitely the Wraiths vs the Buddists, Khemri pulling off those Elf shenanigans brought joy to my heart and a tear to my eye. Plus I don't recall too many Elves dying, I could be wrong but it seems to me the Elves didn't get crippled either and that fun was had by all. Loved Dank Amateurs vs Candy Wrappers as well.

Got stomped, but I've been stomped in every practise game on Cyanide as Vampires. I did manage to level up a Vamp through casualties and passing so I have a Block Vamp now (this has not happened on Cyanide and was very satisfying); on the other hand I have 3 Thralls missing the next game, all with permanent injuries.

I'm gonna get rekt. It's going to be awful. I can't really manage the Vampires well and I go through Thralls like packets of crisps, plus I have no spares and two Journeymen next match. Still, I love playing in a league and I'll be doing my best to make it entertaining, so it should be a fun ride.

Should be fine. Now that I've cleared amazons I'm not really afraid of any other teams, though some of the bashier ones might still give me trouble. Hopefully I can keep the Saurus ball going.

0-0 tie, an absolute wild ride, I could've done a lot better some of the things I did but atleast I managed to tie and got very good winnings and the tree got mvp, as well as all the hilarious stuff khemri managed to pulled off, overall I'm pretty happy with it

With some practice matches to get back in action I'm confident about my next match, plus I got my 2nd RR which is very important and one of the compromises I took with this team, dreading my relationship with nuffle though as last game I only had KOs and no injuries

Disappointing loss first game, Orcs vs Orcs. On his drive I thought I had him well managed, only for a well worked late TD. I don't think either of us were expecting any CAS but I was getting a lot more Pushes than POWs, and on my first Foul got someone sent off, reducing me to 9 v 11 after a KO.

Second half didn't fare much better either, got a decent cage down the middle, only to stupidly misclick the ball carrier an extra square forwards. He got POWed, I figured I had plenty of cover wherever it landed, only for it to bounce about ten times off to his right wing for the 2-0 win. Credit to the theheterick, I reckon he'll be right up there at the end of the season, very solid positionally.

With 11 players next week, I hope I get a numerical advantage over one of my fellow losers. I'll take anyone except bloody Khemri at this stage.

Sort of, same as forgetting to move your turn counter before making an action. It's called the Illegal Procedure rule.

It is a complete non-issue though. There is no implementation of it in the video games, all NAF tournaments don't use the rule, and most people are pleasant enough in real life to politely remind you to move your turn counter, or that you need to roll Blood Lust

I'd say Animated Clothing (CD), Quickslithers (Lizards), 16 Shades of Green (Orc), and One Night Rack (Necro) have shown the strongest and most unrelenting play. Other teams had swings of good/bad luck, but these coaches seem to have the best positioning and contingencies.

How bashy vs dodgy are D Elves? I started with Chaos like everyone, but now have been having a lot of fun as Humans, mostly for the passing game. I know you can pull off similar passing type plays with the Wood Elves. But I didn't like their low armor. Are Dark Elves near as bashy as the humans with their lack of ST 4 pieces and strength access (mainly guard and Mighy Blow). Thinking about ditching my Chaos teams that I always start and stop for one.

What is the bashiest team with a passing game?

Can nurgle be built for viable 2 turn TDs? I think I still want to make a nurgle team when they come to BB2.

I was also thinking of maybe trying Orcs, but I am not sure. Mostly because I only really planned to build 2 ClawMBPO players anyway and CWs take fucking ages to rank up.

They're pretty bashy, but also only av8 and your witch elves are fuggin' av7 (because that sweet skin mmmm)

Orcs are pretty bashy and have access to a thrower.

CWs actually level up faster than orcs though, because CWs are agi 3 so they can reliably catch balls and score TDs

The whole point of Dwarfs definitely seems to be "Fuck you and your Str 4 or Agi 4".

Dwarfs live and breathe chain-blocks and block pushing, learn how to position your players to set those up, both for getting as many block opportunities on the opponent as possible, and to get yourself extra movement on ball carriers when needed.

They're a useful thing to get the hang of for any team, but Dwarfs capitalize on them heavily due to their low movement but high quantities of Tackle and how easily they can throw Guard onto just about anyone in the team.

Dark Elves aren't as bashy as Humans despite what their statline suggests. This is for 3 main reasons:
-lack of reliable S skill access - Human Blitzers can get Mighty Blow, Pile-On and Guard with ease, whereas Dark Elves need to roll doubles for those skills. Thus you can't guarantee casualties and 2-dice blocks quite as easily as a bash-focused human team.
-No Big Guy - in addition to high ST, Big Guys almost always get S access, allowing them to become an immovable assist source with 5ST, Guard, and Stand Firm. Humans get the Ogre but Dark Elves have no big guy.
-Expensive players - this means generally it's very hard for DE to have a deep bench, which helps insulate against the casualties inevitably sustained in a bash-heavy game.

However, they can still inflict a lot of pain - with Dark Elves you want to get into the mentality of fighting with a scalpel, not a sledgehammer. You want to use surgical precision in making blocks; use blitzes and chainpushes (potentially with frenzy) to free up elves who can then move the freed elves to assist other elves in blocking away opponents. AV8 allows you to risk marking if you need to in a pinch as well.

I figure on Chaos I'd go 1 Killer CW, 0-1 +ST tentacle CW 2-3 Guard CW 1 Killer Beast, 1 Ball carrier beast, 1 Juggernaut/Frenzy Beast, and 1 Tackle/Wrestle beast. All other beasts get Guard/Block and Leader on the first dubs, Diving tackle on the rest of the dubs.

Same thing with Nurgle, except Rotters have one Kicker with the rest getting DP and dubs for Guard.

In general, I usually make one killer human Blitzer, and 3 guard blitzers. Skaven I guess gets 2 killers for both their Storm Vermin First gets Guard>Tackle>MB>PO claw on dubs Second gets MB>PO>Tackle>guard Claw on dubs

I can't think of one Wild Animal Big Guy whose benefits outweigh that stupid drawback. I've had way too many times where I've had one fall over (because it turns out always getting 2d's isn't that great with loner and no block) and spend the rest of the drive on its ass unless you blow a blitz just so you can stand it up (and then you have a 1/6 of wasting your blitz entirely). Even if it does stay up, all the opponent has to do is keep it from touching bases with anything and it will spend half the time bellowing like a retard unless you blitz with it every turn. It seems like a lineman is preferable about half the time, and at 1/3 the cost/TV no less.

It's actually pretty easy to move away from just have fend and he can't blitz to get to you or just use a -2d and you have a 70% chance (that's the same chance as a +3 dodge working) of getting away from him if you have block. 44% chance if you don't have block. But if the Mino had stand firm it's only a 25% chance of doing a -2 d (and you have block) 11% chance without block.

-last I heard, you can't buy skilled mercenaries with inducement money either, only vanilla
-BB2 only has 8-10 team rosters so far, and additional team rosters are apparently going to be 5-10$. FUMBBL has all 23, and has the all original Stunty Leeg with a new set of teams for a very different BB experience (and the in-development Secret League, but who knows when that will come up)
-graphics are pretty, but it's easier to play and start FUMBBL, and in my opinion matches can go faster due to lack of animations.
-FUMBBL is a bit more obscure so quality of competition tends to be higher
-Some questionable "balance changes" - just a few things here and there that aren't huge at the moment, but definitely communicate the idea that Cyanide doesn't quite understand the meta of the game (a cost increase for Orc blitzers, really!?)
-Certain skills are not optional when they really should be - sometimes you don't want to use a skill for tactical reasons (Juggernaut or Dodge, for example)

You think so? I've found that with all four Blitzers having Nerves of Steel and Catch means that Dump Off becomes an incredibly difficult thing for the other team to deal with, outside of just hoping to get lucky with interception rolls.

Combine that with the fact that it's incredibly hard to dig through a Bret line and I've been very successful with the fact that my opponent often makes a blitz on my carrier only for the dump off to put me in a much better position.

And if they manage an early blitz and then crowd the ball carrier? Just pass off to another blitzer.

Like, the natural Catch and the easy NoS access makes Blitzers incredibly good at moving the ball around.

some people discussed it. Thoughts came up about a Vet league and a new league (for new teams and new people) and people could have 2 teams. And that there would be play offs to get into the vet league.

I personally don't like the idea of an open league with so few people. Some people play all the time and others ever other day which strongly will shift the team strengths and will lead that people who don't play that often will even play less and stop playing all together.

Yeah, my first game went great. Great opponent. Looking forward to the rest of the league.

Also, I don't mind "fuck you"s, complaining about bad luck, or being frustrated over an unlikely number of successes. I've just had games in NAF and MHI on BB2, where my opponent would take half their turns telling me how shit I was. That is just draining.
