You are ROY POWERS, a Vertical Tank Commander!
You've finally arrived at the combined Tilean/Breton army camp, and the whole place was a veritable hive of activity. Despite having united, you could see that the Tileans and Bretons were still clearly delineated, with the camp being practically split in half. Then again, it was probably simpler that way. You could see the soldiers and knights from either side going about their regular duties. Bannon and Parker had gone off to debrief with Sawyer, but before they left, they had tasked you with overseeing Egan's studies of the recovered Reikland tech you had brought back with you.
"You've certainly brought back a lot of new toys." Egan says appreciatively, though her famously stoic face doesn't express it. She paces along the rows of Panther wreckage you had salvaged, as well as the intact undead soldiers you had seized from a cargo shipment.
"Well, this might take a while, and I'm just one scientist." Egan puts on a pair of work gloves and goggles. "What do you want me to work on first?"

Clem's just like the Wolverine series seems to be ending it's service life due to the new Panthers slowly being entered in.
While it has done well, unless we upgrade or get a new tank to deal with it, we may be facing some problems.

"Possible." Egan says as she coolly begins dismantling the mechanical parts of one of the corpses. "But I'd have to do a deeper study."
"How long is it going to take?" Tarin asks.
"Hmmmm, it could take a while completely dismantling these specimens." Egan shrugs as she pulls out a particularly heavy looking component. "Perhaps your time would be better sent somewhere else for now."

Seeing as how we're still essentially nobodies in the eyes of Tillean command, I doubt we're going to get uber special VT's and I don't want a Brittonian one off.

Hmm, This is also true, however I'm not sure what type of gun we can even equip a Wolverine, if it's based on the Sherman tank, the 76mm should be the limit unless we think of the Super Sherman.
Maybe adding more armor or better engine as well.

Just checked, the M36B1 is literally an M4A3 with a 90mm turret plopped on top and the stowage rearranged. The turret was a bit unbalanced, but it worked just fine. Turret traverse was obviously slower, but considering the M4's fast turret traverse, wasn't much of an issue.

"Then it's a plan." Egan nods as she takes out a massive buzz saw.
You and Tarin quickly make your exit just as you hear the sound of flesh and metal being sheared apart by a giant steel saw.
"Good call. Sounds really messy in there." Tarin observes. "I'd hate to get that stuff all over us."
"Yeah, I figured." You grin.
The two of you head over to the motor pool, where you can see both the Tilean Wolverines and Breton "steeds" lined up next to each other. Of course, if there was one faction of the military that would get along well, it would be the mechanics and engineers. You could see teams from both sides examining each others' machines with much enthusiasm. Hopefully this kind of "friendly exchange" would yield some good results for both sides.
And then your good mood is ruined when you see Clementine. She had taken a serious beating during the battle against Hess, with her cannon having been completely destroyed and her armor in tatters from the punishment she endured. When the maintenance crews first saw her, they were about to write her off as a loss until a poisonous glare from Tarin changed their minds.
"So what's the verdict?" You ask the chief mechanic.
"She's a right mess." The chief mechanic grumbles, wiping excess engine grease from his gloves. "Still in one piece, miraculously enough, but her armor is slagged and the cannon is a complete loss. She's going to need a complete overhaul."
"Damn, how long would that take?" You frown.

Well most explosives barring super high caliber would be far less effective, this includes infantry weapons like bazookas and shit. And it reduces overall effectiveness of AT cannons and such because it is more armor to get through.

"Oh, that's High Velocity Armor Piercing ammunition." The chief mechanic explains. "New special issue ammo that just shipped in in response to the increased threat from Reikland heavy armor. Uses a tougher tungsten penetrator instead of steel, so it packs a bigger punch."
"Nice." You nod appreciatively. "That will be a big help for us."
"Yeah, you're one of the lucky ones." The chief mechanic grunts as he cracks the crate open. "So far we haven't been able to produce a big number of these shells, so it's being reserved for tank destroyers and platoon leaders only. You're definitely getting some special treatment here."
"That's... nice?" You blink.
"Take it from me, kid. Don't brag about having this stuff to anybody. It'll save you a lot of trouble." The chief mechanic warns.
"We'll keep that in mind." Tarin nods.
"Anyways, we got work to do, so you two should get going." The Chief mechanic waves you off.

I'm currently reading Dmitry Lova's book, Commanding the Red Army's Sherman Tanks. Here's a quote from it.

It was about some commander guy sitting in front of a desk, handing a pamphlet to a young soldier, and the pamphlet had 'all about tiger tanks' as a title with a front view of the tiger tank. While the commander guy was handing it over to the blonde young soldier, he said something like 'tigers taking out 7~8 tanks in one hit, something something scary stuff'. No, fuck you. Tigers were designed as breakthrough tanks, to have the armor to take any hits that they might take, and the gun to be able to kill anything it would face.
The Sherman was designed as a medium tank, to have the speed and reliability to make it ideal for operational maneuverability. It had enough armor to take on anything it faced when it was introduced, and a gun that could kill anything as such.

The Sherman was not built to fight heavy tanks, it was built as infantry support and to fight Medium tanks or lighter.
However, the Sherman did well even when facing the Tiger but those are very, very rare.
