Make sure you realize that the past tense of "stat" is "statted", not "stated". A lot of OPs make that mistake. "Hey, /tg/ it would be cool if you stated me" kinds of variants.
Other than that, posting an actual owlbear is a one-trick pony, because after owlbear guy makes his post, the thread will just derail into talking about wizards making weird animals. Starting a thread with a screencap of a statblock will usually turn the thread into a general thread about whichever faction (40k) or edition (D&D) the statblock is from.
The best stat-me threads are the ones without easily summarized characters. Invariably a few people will just say GURPS or Exalted, but those non-answers are almost always a minority.
In truth, the best you can do is just make the thread you want to make, and see where it goes.
