What sort of general advice would a guidebook for hunters of the supernatural have?
>>
Your assumptions are wrong.
Your methods are faulty.
Your weapons are inadequate.

Knowledge is the greatest asset one can have when facing the supernatural, both of the enemy, and of oneself.

Never consider anything "dead" until it is in at LEAST five sepatate pieces.

Even then, cremate each piece individually to be sure, but never on a new moon.

Other is no such thing as "overkill"

Invest in rock salt.
>>
>>43601708
Don't wander off
Don't ask questions
Run

Steel for man and silver for them

Burn the pieces

Bring someone who is slower

Look, don't touch

"Don't fuck it"

"No, really. Please don't try to fuck it"

Devastatingly underrated post.

Truer words never spoken.

If you are time traveling to the Dark Ages, bring a shotgun, a chainsaw, and a car. And don't worry about shells or gas.
>>
Specialize.

There's only so much you can carry, and a million different types of supernatural being. Have a base knowledge of everything you're likely to encounter, then pick one and hunt only that.
>>
For the love of Moot, don't give strangers your true name

An index of the most common types of creatures you may encounter, with basic instructions and warning relevant to each, as every kind requires a completely different approach.

Nothing. No one at all.

When in doubt, use silver and fire.

COLD IRON
HOT FIRE

This is actually a pretty good summary.

It's not worth it if you die too.

"It's a monster, not your waifu."

Quote it, attribute it, dedicate an entire illustrated page to it, and put it first thing in the book.

Depends on the setting but Silver and Iron are almost always good weapons to use when hunting. Salt and certain herbs are also particularly effective.

A long list of required reading and skills. It would probably tell you to get a hunting license and have access to several types of firearms and ammunition, to take additional courses in tracking, to study herbalism both medical and mystical, advanced First Aid, trapping. To learn how to build and mend your own shit through basic welding, woodcraft, metalworking, and similar, because you don't want to end up unable to acquire the proper shape or tool in the proper material, given the importance of shapes and materials in the occult (obviously you need access to proper tools). Acting classes are a must, diligently practice lying in front of a computer. Definitely access to car, driver's license a must. A basic exercise schedule. Study laws. Study Sun Tzu.
Printed on the front would be, "Better Safe Than Sorry", and on the back, "DON'T PANIC".
