I bought a Q Workshop d20 the other day and noticed that it has a very odd number pattern on it. The 1- 5, and the 16-20 are in order like a normal spindown on opposite sides, but 6-15 are completely jumbled in the center row.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Does this make it more random?

I've seen it before. It has to do with people being lazy cunts.

I have no clue. Ive never seen any d20 like this before and was wondering if any of you have. Is there any logic to this pattern?

The fuck is that die made of? It looks like it's carved out of soap.
>>
>>43554834
But how is this any easier to make than a regular or spindown pattern? Q workshop makes both already.

Its a hard glossy plastic.

Hope you didn't buy an entire set, OP. Looks like the D8 has fucked up numbering too.

What's the effect of the difference in patterns anyway? Unless it's really fucked up with same numbers on some sides.
>>
>>43558053
Basically nil. If you had high numbers on one side and low on the other (like an actual countdown die) it could be weighted purposefully or accidentally to one side. There's a pattern that is standard and "most balanced" but I suspect your die is fairly random.

It's an HP countdown d20 for Magic.

Almost all of the people I play with don't allow spindown d20s because they "Aren't random". Unfortunately, almost all of mine are magic spindowns instead of the "real" thing. I've tried explaining that it doesn't really matter, since you have a 1/20 chance of rolling any number, but still. Honestly, if you're gonna use a weird die to cheat at your pretend games, you've got bigger problems in your life

You get a specific kind of distribution based on what side you roll on, how long it rolls, etc. If you use spindown, even without trying to cheat, you may wind up annoyed by recurring patterns and lack of certain number ranges because you roll the same way too much. A fair die putting high beside low and vice versa can still give you repeating patterns if you roll too exactly the same way repeatedly, but the number sets you wind up selecting from are at least balanced.

>Looking around a game store for an oversized d20 for dramatic rolls because my brother got one years before
>Find some gigantic ones, like five inches across, for like twelve bucks a piece
>Buy one, the chump I am, and excitedly rush home and show gf
>Roll a few sets of character stats out because I wanted something to roll for
>Both have exclusively 19s, 20s, 1s, 2s, or 3s
>Turns out it's a spindown
I never thought the whole "They're not as random" spiel was true until then. Damnit, why would someone need a spindown that large? It's bigger than the cards!

they just irk me

>Chance is still 5% for all numbers

nothing wrong here
