What is an eroge?
These are games, in wich the male characther develops a story surrounded by several females and can get sex (h-scenes) with all of them. The game plays as visual novel, there is points where you have to choose between girls, or between answers to a situation or event.
Are this vid or cg?
Essentially very high cuality cgs but some of them, (like squeez ones) have little vid animations (like a gif or a webm but with cg resolution)
Are this translated?
The 99% of them, specially the best ones, are NOT translated. Personally i play a lot of them without knowing japanese, i just hit choices until i get the results i want with the girls i want. They are pretty intuitive, specially when you have played a couple of them before.
How do you make this playable?
First you have to find out where the save and load buttons are, so you save before an important choice (just in case you get it wrong as it is highly likely)
Second you need to enter the options or configuration menu and set the option "skip all" activated and put the time when skipping to 0s, so you can smoothly skip all the texts you were not going to understand anyway. Just hit things and check back until you find the correct thing.
Whats that applocale nonsense?
Most of these games need to be run by applocale. I highly recommend entering "applocale context menu" in google and hitting the first link, it will lead you to a hongfire, follow that simple 3 steps and you will have a context option when you right click anything to "Run it with japanese locale"
oh, and you can remove the text box, and also change the transparency of the green background in the options.
Anyway, in the start menu there is always a cg gallery option where you can see all the cg's and animations you have unlocked
I forgot to mention as well, these things are fully voiced, interesting specially in the h-scenes

You have tu unzip/unrar the biggest file thing and mount the iso image in it with daemon tools or similar.
Then you go to the cd drive and hit setup, or autorun or so.
