The Thirty Years War - C.V. Wedgewood

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:4VACXBJMAHDGPYRCVMB4KHGTKBADW7AY&dn=The%20Thirty%20Years%20War&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80

"In his monumental study of the causes and the consequences of the Thirty Years War, Wilson challenges traditional interpretations of the war as primarily religious. He explores instead the political, social, economic as well as religious forces behind the conflict...Wilson then provides a meticulous account of the war, introducing some of its great personalities: the crafty General Wallenstein; the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus, who preserved his state through canny political treaties and military operations; and Hapsburg archdukes Rudolf and Matthias, the brothers whose quarrels marked the future of Bohemia, Austria and Hungary. By the war's end, ravaged as all the states were by violence, disease and destruction, Europe was more stable, but with sovereign states rather than empires, and with a secular order. Wilson's scholarship and attention to both the details and the larger picture make his the definitive history of the Thirty Years War."

The Proud Tower - Barbara W Tuchman

During the fateful quarter century leading up to World War I, the climax of a century of rapid, unprecedented change, a privileged few enjoyed Olympian luxury as the underclass was “heaving in its pain, its power, and its hate.” In The Proud Tower, Barbara W. Tuchman brings the era to vivid life: the decline of the Edwardian aristocracy; the Anarchists of Europe and America; Germany and its self-depicted hero, Richard Strauss; Diaghilev’s Russian ballet and Stravinsky’s music; the Dreyfus Affair; the Peace Conferences in The Hague; and the enthusiasm and tragedy of Socialism, epitomized by the assassination of Jean Jaurès on the night the Great War began and an epoch came to a close.

That said, anybody who pirates Dan Carlin is a fucking monster. I mean, it's only a dollar.

you need to have a torrent client installed
here's a wikipedia list of clients
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_clients

I'm not ging to recommend any. I use the GNU/Linux operating system. If you use Windows I hear that μTorrent is a popular torrent client for Windows.

Once the torrent client is installed open it and then try to find the option where you can add a torrent using a URL

the magnet URL/link you asked about you can copy and then paste it into the empty box which will appear once you've selected something like "add torrent using URL"

different clients word it (add torrent using URL) differently but that's the basic gist of it.

Anyone recommend a hard drive or whatnot? New to /t/ and laptop running out of gigabytes here

Do you keep everything you download ?
Just my two cents here but I like to use a ramdrive to download stuff and move only what I really want to keep to my hard drive.
I also takes all the strain of p2p random i/o accesses away from the hd and gives it a longer lifetime.
The softperfect ramdisk is free and the fastest/easiest to set up I've seen so far.

As if the gazillions of people in the world who use computers aren't doing the same fucking thing every day using their harddrives with no problems.

>I also takes all the strain of p2p random i/o accesses away from the hd and gives it a longer lifetime.

WTF are you talking about? WHAT fucking "strain"? And do you seriously think that using a harddrive shortens its life in ANY meaningful way?

>The softperfect ramdisk is free and the fastest/easiest to set up I've seen so far.

I can't figure out whether you're a technological moron or a fucking spammer.

>Anyone recommend a hard drive or whatnot? New to /t/ and laptop running out of gigabytes here

Hard to find a harddrive these days that ISN'T packaged as a portable unit with a USB cable.

I have a 2TB and a 3TB seagate plugged into my desktop which can just as easily be plugged into my laptop.

>I can't figure out whether you're a technological moron or a fucking spammer.

I just found my answer...you're a fucking spammer. softperfect is NOT "free", you lying fucking cunt:

https://www.softperfect.com/order/?ramdisk

FWIW, you're probably a technological moron anyway.

BTW, for wintel machines, MS has provided a "ramdisk.sys" with every one of its OSs since the days of DOS, and I don't see why apple/mac wouldn't have an equivalent driver included with their OSs.
