Maybe this was true 10 or even 5 years ago, but it's a meme now. Nowadays NBA success demands ball movement, finding the open man, taking good shots, and even making intelligent switches on defense. LeBron would unironically be one of the better QBs in the NFL today.
Meanwhile you still see your stiffs in the NFL throwing 4 picks in a half, constantly missing open receivers, being afraid to throw the ball longer than 5 yards, etc. And they're just as likely to be white as anything else
