Please don't tell people that's how you get into F1. Not all of us are as much of an autist as you bro. It makes us look bad.
>driver gets penalized because his crew assists him over the radio
If NASCAR implemented a similar rule, quite a few of the current Sprint Cup drivers would be incapable of racing.
It's crazy how different the rules and officiating are for two of the biggest motorsports.
>>69559830
This rule in F1 only exists because fans complained about teams telling the drivers where to brake and things like that and it's not that old.
>>69559830
The rule only came in this year, and everyone in F1 agrees that it's monumentally stupid
They wanted to prevent teams "coaching" the drivers over the radio and telling them how to drive, which is good in my opinion. But now they're not even allowed to tell them how to fix technical issues, which is INSANITY. I am sure they will change it before next year because the teams will force it.
>>69560135
Why is it good? It's a full on team sport. We ride together we die together and all that good shit. Why must the drivers be alone when driving?
>>69560212
Dunno, maybe you're right. They do at least need to let them discuss technical issues though because at the moment it's ridiculous.
I was just thinking it might be bad if e.g. the team has some really good data on another driver, and they tell their driver to push in a certain sector, or at a certain time, or something. Because that could make it a bit unfair, exploiting data of other drivers. Takes away from racing really.
But everything to do with the team's own car, they should be allowed to discuss

they did, but they weren't worried enough about it to slow down a race to do so.
no safety cars back then, and while i've seen yellow flags, it's pretty much only when they've had marshals removing cars or large amounts of debris from the track itself, and a lot of the times if a car retired and managed to pull off into the grass or a run off (or sometimes just far enough off the racing line), they were left there for the duration
and it's quite common to see marshals not far off the track working while cars are going flat out dangerously close by today's standards

Everyday, I come to /f1/ to look at F1 content, to talk to friendly fans of the sport, and to enjoy talking about the sport we all love. Unfortunately, some people on /f1/seem to forget that at the end of the day, what occurs on track happens for our entertainment. It isn't there to stir people up and force them to go onto /f1/ and start arguing with other people. So if you see an opinion (yes, people have their own OPINION) you don't like, IGNORE IT! It is that simple. If you see people supporting their favourite driver, IGNORE IT! If you want to start complaining about conspiracy theories, then do that in your head. One more thing, if another driver is beating your favourite driver, don't get mad at that driver who outperformed your favourite driver. (Looking at some fellow Ric fans). This has probably been addressed a million times, but it is always forgotten.

>plenty of overtakes=great race
>few overtakes=bad race
Just fucking kill yourself, jonne. Or at least get proper ADD medication.
Do you know which F1 race had the most overtakes? Chinese GP this year with 161 overtakes. Was that race a classic? Do you even remember anything about it? Yeah, Rosberg won... and?
Least overtakes in the dry? 2006 San Marino GP. Schumacher vs. Alonso, a thrilling battle between two greats at the top of their powers. How many overtakes? One (1)
Least overtakes in the wet? 1996 Spanish GP. That race is an all-time classic. Schumacher's first win with Ferrari. The way Schumacher walked on water, sliced through the field and then ran away 5 seconds a lap quicker than anyone else. How many overtakes? Four (4)
Now I know how ice hockey and football fans feel like when some fucking casual comes in, complains that the matches are boring because there aren't enough goals and then proposes rule changes like making the goals bigger and getting rid of the offside rule. "Then every game will be 33-29! It will be so awesome! The more goals, the better the match! I can't concentrate if something cool doesn't happen every five seconds! I like lollipops!"
If you think that overtaking=great racing, go watch Nascar and proceed to eat yourself to death like that Greek faggot.
>>69570548
American culture. Instant gratification instead of building up tension to an incredibly exciting moment.
>>69570548
Holy shit you are mad.
Did you by any chance watch either of the F3 races today? Literally ZERO (0) overtakes in both races excluding the starts.
Is this what you consider "great racing"? Long trains of cars unable to pass for the whole race? Wow truly fantastic
At no point did I even imply that more overtakes = good race. I was pointing out the fact that the races at Zandvoort were total borefests because it is seemingly almost impossible to overtake.
I don't think DRS and modern Formula is where racing should be, but I don't think it's worse than e.g. 2004. If you really like watching cars drive behind each other and MAYBE get a lucky undercut during pitting, then feel free to download all the seasons from the early 2000's.
fuck off retard
>>69570548
very very well said.
Overtaking should be harder in general. I'd rather see a driver fail to overtake another driver 3 times and make it (or crash) at the fourth time, than simply seeing him pass with DRS.
AMD AMX move on Fat John in Monaco 2015 turned the race from a complete 2/10 snorefest into a 8/10 meme race.

The AI are awful and although the cars are pretty fun and there's a good selection (like the Waltrip cars) there's still so many other better games out there you can get for cheap. Although tbf the best games are only on PC when it comes to racing games. I was just so hype for PC that I think that's why it hurts so much more. Doing a career mode in that game is suicide. F1 2016 is my only hope otherwise it's back to Rfactor and NASCAR racing 2003.

F1 needs to have that thing where they forcefully balance the genders. The overall talent pool would drop, but it would make up for the lack of Maldonado-style crashes.

Stolen from WAGSguy. That guy has some serious issues.
>Be her husband
>Gets home from a charity dinner
>Typical boring stuff but she always looks amazing in her dress
>Both had a little bit too much wine to get through the night
>Walk up behind her and start laying kisses into her neck
>She leans back and just melts into your arms
>"ohh Rodrigo"
>Think back to that day three months ago when you got back from the wedding
>Sweep her up in your arms and carry her upstairs
>Lay her on the bed and the kissing continues
>Clothes start to get peeled off but the eyepatch stays on like usual
>She is on her knees sucking you off on the edge of the bed
>Run your hands through her hair and fingers catch on the elastic strap
>She stops and looks up towards you
>"R..Rodrigo please for me can you…."
>Takes off her eyepatch
>The darkish hole looks back at you
>You are about to ask her when she lowers her head forward
>A sensation you can't even begin to explain starts to envelop you
>"Maria are you sure?"
>She responds by going faster
>Can feel yourself getting closer
>Grab the back off her head to go a bit faster
>"YES HONEY USE ME PLEASE YES"
>The full magnitude of how taboo this is hits and you tilt your head back from the pleasure
>Feel her squirm as she cums hard
>You also reach your end and hold her head still as you cum in her
>Breathing heavily you can't believe what you have just done
>Letting go of her head, she slides off your dick and slumps on the floor with a wet thud
>You look down at the mess in front of you and realise that wasn't her cumming and that you just fucked your wifes brains out

I don't know if Project Farts has the option, but generally in every (serious) racing sim to be able to play with a controller I set the steering linearity decently low. This is necessary to keep the car on a steady line instead of having the steering wheel fidgeting all over the place because the analog stick is too sensitive.
>>69572045
She shouldn't have been driving. She clearly hadn't had enough experience.
>>69571734
Nascar Racing 2003? good GOD. I remember when that game first came out. I take it the modding community has been busy for a long-ass time.
>>69572054
believe me when I say that I turned on almost every controller aid available, and I *still* have a hard time keeping the rear tires planted coming off the faster turns. It's a lack of gameplay feedback, honestly. It's like the car isn't even properly down in the racetrack, and by the time I'm through the middle of the turn I realize that the car is sliding away from me. It's not like driving on a slick racetrack, it's more like driving on ice.
>>69572152
It's still one of the best offline racing experiences you can have. You can download it for free and even if you have a shitbox for a PC you could probably run it. And yes the mod community had been doing absolute work on it. My favorite mod is the Aero 88 cars.
>>69572152
Steering linearity isn't really an aid, it's just a setting like sensitivity. Regardless, it seems your problems are with traction anyway.
Not knowing the game I really can't tell if it's you or it. I play rF2 with a controller, no FFB and no aids, and I don't really have a problem doing it (I do spin out, but it's never a problem with the controls, I'm just too eager to get on the throttle).
So, what is Red Bull going to do with Sainz? He seems to be turning into a reliable, boring midfield driver, a career #2. Yes he's BTFOing Bylat but that not much of an accomplishment. Would like to think he has a few cheeky podiums in his future but it would take some major fuckery for him to win a race.
Or I could be talking out my ass and this is Alonso's Minardi years all over again.
>>69572281
They'll probably JEV him into forgetfulness.
>>69572281
>implying he isn't going to bully Bully out of his seat
Sainz performed just as well as Amx at Toro Rosso last year, and is pulling the '16 car with an old Ferrari engine into the top 10 almost every race
and people here seem to be forgetting in 2015 Kyvat outscored their precious RIC last year and was voted by Team Principals as one of the top 5 drivers of that year
>>69572281
I reckon, both STR drivers are sorta in poor form.
The whole KYV/VES swap put VES on a high, and SAI on a low because he probably feels overlooked. Then VES won Spain, which made KYV feel shit, hence his ridiculously crap performance since.
I presume KYV will last until they find someone too replace him with, and SAI will jump ship, or replace RIC if he jumps first. SAI is definitely a good consistent driver, similar to RIC but he doesn't seem to have the potential RIC did. He'll probably replace Massa/Button/Hulk/Grosjean. He could come good, and he does have shining moments.
>>69572398
>Sainz performed just as well as Amx at Toro Rosso
I wanted this to be true, but it isn't. Arguably 2015 RBR/STR is a bit weird tho, because the Renualt PU was shite.
>>69572281
he was Amx's equal in races but he was not as quick in qualifying, however
Bottas (missed his window of opportunity), Ricciardo (unlikely as he might be 2017 WDC), or Sainz will move to Ferrari after Kimi retires.
Gasly is not ready to move up to F1. If Giovinazzi wins GP2, I see Red Bull signing him and moving him to Toro Rosso.
>>69572273
>I play rF2 with a controller, no FFB and no aids, and I don't really have a problem doing it
How?
I have rFactor 2 and while I can just about drive with a controller it's a number of seconds slower then the AI and I can only do it on certain mods.
When I plug my wheel in everything is fine though.
Even if i get it drivably with a controller the tyres are destroyed in less than 10 laps because for most corners the tyres heat up to 200+°C
>>69572480
>Bottas (missed his window of opportunity)
I can't tell if he's gotten shit, or just knows the 2016 car is crap and doesn't push it. Last year when he was behind the Merc's in 3rd he seemed to just slow down also. Is he that autism, that he calculates the laptimes and knows he can't catch them or something?
>>69572480
Ferrari will never ever replace Kimi with a Torro Rosso driver.
Drivers who might replace Kimi in 2018:
The Bully
Bu77ass (unlikely but still.. why not hire another finn along seb?)
Cuckberg or Hurikenberg (>inb4 no 2 German drivers at Ferrari)
Who knows.. They might aswell hire Fat John for only 1 or 2 years before getting AMD AMX
>>69572508
You get different tyre wear depending on the controls? That makes no sense. You probably just unconsciously end up leaning on them more. The thing I was talking about, using low steering linearity, would probably help.
The times I get don't really matter since I'm not very good to begin with, but whether I use a wheel or a controller I more or less get the same performance.

He's showing maturity that would be absolutely incredible a decade ago for a driver that age. He isn't as beta as e.g. Bottas. He has the fire of hispanics without the terrible nervousness. He's like a pragmatic Spaniard aka basically the opposite of his father.
He will stay at TR for another year. When Max starts winning on the regular people won't forget that Sainz was equalling him in many aspects. He will go to Haas/Ferrari, Renault or Force India. Or alternatively Max BTFO's Ricciardo so hard that he ragequits and goes to Ferrari and the Max-Carlos dreamteam is reunited once again.
He is in good hands and he is not an idiot so I think he will have a good career. Maybe not WDC but race winner for sure. Like a better Barrichello.

the thing is, hungarian was artificially made unique. sure we have the same base as the other finno-uralic languages, but in the early XIX century our language was remade and reformed with new words (from turkish, german and some of the slavic languages[also english nowadays]) and rules. Word-making was taken into a new level with words which only make sense to us and no one else.
geographic differences made big differences in the languages as well basically

Codies games are simcades: you can't throw yourself into corners and just hope that by braking randomly you'll make it, but the phyrics are extremely basic and hardly realistic.
Generally the best one is considered to be 2013 because it has the additional classic cars, assuming that DLC is available on consoles too.

F1 2013 is the best one of them all but it is pretty shit anyway
It's good for quali. Set the difficulty to highest and those laptimes will be seriously hard to beat. Racing itself is shit though. If you let Vettel past you, he WILL drive a 1-2 second gap in a lap and there's literally nothing you can do about it (not unlike real life but still). You can have rich fuel mode, great setup, fresh tires and be in a Red Bull and he will still drive away on hypermode.
Some tracks have no tire wear to worry about (Canada, Spa), and some tracks have such brutal tire wear that you can barely match your average strategy. And on these tracks (and all tracks in general) the AI doesn't have any tire wear at all apparently. You will be done with your tires at Hungaroring by lap 6 to the point that you can't drive on them anymore and the AI will set fastest laps like 3 laps later on the same unpitted tire compund
So yea its shit but its cool to drive F1 cars on cool tracks

>>69575596
the AI's tyre wear is "simulated" i.e. their grip levels remain the same but their maximum potential lap times just decrease ever so slightly each lap
the AI in general pre-2015 were shite; they brake incredibly early for most corners, others they brake later than humanly possible, they run full traction control even if you're running no assists, if you try to race wheel-to-wheel they'll either crash into you or drop back by two seconds and if they do crash into you you'll always be the one spun out and they'll continue on like nothing happened
mind you the only thing 2015 fixed about the ai was the braking too early/late and even then it introduced a whole host of issues of its own

I recommend 2013 over 2014 just because of the real life regulation change.
2013 cars were fast and awesome and 2014 were 200 kg heavier with shit sound. The game represents this perfectly as well so might as well go with 2013.
You can get 2013 (even classic edition) for no money at all because its old as fuck now so might as well get that or wait for 2016 (the first F1 game that looks to be truly decent since 2013)
2014 is shit for the most part and 2015 is a reskin of 2014 yet somehow even worse

don't get me wrong it's a massive step above everything that isn't rf2, iracing or automobilista but their engine modelling, for example, is a fair way behind because their simulating of it is simplified - it doesn't account for turbo lag or ERS harversting and replaces it with a very rough simulation - and they cut a few other corners in similar ways.
but i've read that they're working on fixing those to bring it to a higher standard

No he didn't. It was Ross Brawn. Remember how he was the team principal at Mercedes?
Hamilton has told the story. Brawn literally invited Lewis to tea at his (Hamilton's) mother's house (alpha as fuck Ross the Boss slaying pussy day in day out) and basically told Lewis that Merc is going to win everything in the future and he guarantees it based on his merit so Lewis should probably sign up.
Wolff and Lauda then eventually more or less, actually directly, forced Brawn out of the team once it looked like the Brawn/Schumi partnership had delivered the 2014 car for them.
If you know anything about F1 you would say fuck Toto and to a lesser degree fuck Niki but at least Niki is a cool guy and not as much of a corporate fucker

No, there's extra stuff that (like I said) can't be turned off. Everything from input filtering that prevents oversteer to dissipating forces that would unbalance the car when you ride over curbs.
>>69576017
>What's the best one in your opinion?
There's no sim that's "the best". It completely depends on what you're after. Rfactor has the most content for sure, with a really strong modding scene. Iracing and Assetto has better tracks. They all feel a little different, which leads to fanboys with no racing experience concluding that one is more realistic than the other.
You 100% need a wheel and pedals to play a sim though.
>>69576124
Fair enough. Thank you for the info Swedbro
>>69576124
>You 100% need a wheel and pedals to play a sim though.
Depends what you are after. If you want as much realism as possible, obviously wheels+pedals will give you much more feeling and immersion than a gamepad. But if you want throttle and braking precision, your fingers are far more accurate than your feet. Also, if you learn to use the left stick, you can steer very smoothly and rapidly with a gamepad. Also, cost is an issue, as many w+p combos are much more expensive than the xbox one controller, which is pretty good.
>>69571005
>Implying you don't like our freedom
>>69576429
>if you want throttle and braking precision, your fingers are far more accurate than your feet.
No. Then F1 drives would drive with gamepads dummy.
Also even if you were equally good with your fingers, The gamepads you can buy just aren't high quality enough. There's too much wiggle and sensor jitter. I've tried to play sims on gamepad without input filtering and it's hard just to get around the track.
Assetto Corsa is pretty good with gamepad, but your laptimes are at least 2 seconds behind what you could do with a wheel. So the difference between the Merc and the Manor pretty much.
>>69576124
>You 100% need a wheel and pedals to play a sim though
You also need a Playseat that lets you sit in a correct position just like F1 drivers. On top of that you need a high quality VR headset like Oculus or Vive, racing gloves, racing boots and a bottle of warm champagne.
Otherwise you are just another simcade faggot.
>>69576525
it's not that the fingers aren't accurate enough, it's that you need to really press hard on the brake pedal and a finger just doesn't have enough muscular strength to do that
>>69576525
>Then F1 drives would drive with gamepads dummy.
>implying this isn't the future
>>69576525
>No. Then F1 drives would drive with gamepads dummy.
I think the main reasons F1 drivers race with pedals and a wheel today is because of tradition; and as of now, all the additional shit they have to do with the buttons of the wheel. But make no mistake; if it were possible, they would accelerate and brake with just their fingers as they change gears with just a paddle unlike in the past. The amount of precision and sensation you have in your hands is far beyond than what you get with your feet.

>>69576556
Not the same thing. You can play perfectly fine without the things you mention, however you can't with a gamepad in a sim. It's like playing a normal racing game with the arrow keys.
>>69576571
Wrong. Nothing in the regs dictate that you can't have 100% brake by wire. I think there's already race-cars where the brake pedal is just a sensor.
Throttle is already just a sensor since like 20 years, and you haven't seen anyone move that to a finger.
>is because of tradition
really nigga? with how competitive F1 is you think they would pass up on gains because of traditions? All the young drivers today are already comfortable with racing games on gamepad.
>if it were possible
it already is, see above
>The amount of precision...
No. You can have a much longer range on foot operated pedals, the relative precision is the same.
>>69576748
bottom part for >>69576613
>>69576748
It's less about precision and more about muscle memory.
You need to repeatedly put the same amount of brake or throttle at a corner lap after lap after lap.
It is much easier to push the same amount lap after lap after lap with the long throw of a pedal and your leg compared to a trigger.
That is why you should get sim pedals with a load cell brake because you need to remember how hard you push on the brakes for a corner not how far you depress the pedal.
>>69576748
>really nigga? with how competitive F1 is you think they would pass up on gains because of traditions? All the young drivers today are already comfortable with racing games on gamepad.
Tradition plays an important role in F1. Why, then, do they still race with open cockpits and open wheels if they are not advantageous towards aerodynamics and safety?
>No. You can have a much longer range on foot operated pedals, the relative precision is the same.
Range doesnt matter, dude. You can move your fingers accurately in the milimeter range, which you can't with your feet.
>>69576613
Yes thats why literally no motorsport has ever adopted finger throttle.
Online racing leagues even allow you to do whatever the fuck you want so feel free to test out how great finger throttle really is. If it was great then teams would have been doing it ages ago. Do you really think "tradition" is something that prevents a team from trying something new out? In F1

Drivers are slammed down flat out after second gear anyway so it really really doesn't matter how accurate the throttle is
>>69576823
>You need to repeatedly put the same amount of brake or throttle at a corner lap after lap after lap.
Except that you don't? The amount of throttle and braking you do in a race varies depending in several factors, like how much fuel you have left, how worn your tyres are , at what temperature and pressure they are operating, conditions of the track, etc.

>3 towels must be available in the unilateral room.

You could easily make a load cell trigger though. Not that it changes anything
>>69576861
>Why, then, do they still race with open cockpits and open wheels if they are not advantageous towards aerodynamics and safety?
Obviously because that's what the rules dictate. They don't dictate how you operate the car.
>Range doesnt matter, dude. You can move your fingers accurately in the milimeter range
That's exactly why it matters tard. If your foot is 5 times less precise but the pedal has 5 times longer range, then you have identical relative precision. Also see >>69576883. You sound just like one of those fags claiming a gamepad is better for FPS, despite literally not a single professional FPS player uses one on PC
>>69576908
It's still easier with pressure than range tard. Which is why everyone uses it.
>>69576907
>Drivers are slammed down flat out after second gear anyway so it really really doesn't matter how accurate the throttle is
There are many f1 tracks with slow hairpins and chicanes in which you need to be in 1st gear, the most famous one being Monaco.
>>69576907
>Drivers are slammed down flat out after second gear anyway so it really really doesn't matter how accurate the throttle is

I would definitely not ever say that it "doesn't matter how accurate the throttle is"... like 90% of corners require throttle control

>>69576970
>It's still easier with pressure than range tard. Which is why everyone uses it.
You say range is the reason people use foot pedals, but theoretically you could have just as much range on hand pedals / triggers couldn't you?
I think the main reason they stick to foot pedals is because you're already doing too much with your hands. Imagine having to accelerate and brake with your hands, as well as having to change gear, and steer, and change the settings on your wheel.
And of course, every other car has feet pedals, so that's a reason too.
>>69577121
The fuck is your problem, dude?
>>69577131
Slight misunderstanding, range is not the reason people use foot pedals. Range is the reason you can be just as precise with foot pedals as with something you operate with your hand. I also think the separation of tasks is one of the main benefits with wheel/pedals

>Slight misunderstanding, range is not the reason people use foot pedals. Range is the reason you can be just as precise with foot pedals as with something you operate with your hand.
This is what you don't understand. Range doesn't matter, it is how much control you can have with your fingers and hands when performing a task. Be it painting, playing an instrument, steering, pushing something, feeling pressure, etc. You have much more control over your hands than you'll ever have over your feet as a major part of our brain is dedicated to control fine motor control and sensation input from our fingers and hands.

We have already established that:
1. If there were any advantage to moving throttle/break to your hands, it would have been done already
2. Every single person playing sim racing at any sort of decent level uses wheel+pedals even though gamepads are a more common and cheaper PC peripheral

Post 2013 F1 cars generate so much torque that, at low speeds, you need as much throttle sensitivity as you can manage to not spin out/overheat the tyres. At medium and high speed corners downforce stabilizes the car and you can compensate in several ways if throttle/braking isn't being precise enough.
So yes, I thought that was more relevant to point out.

He was screwed over by John Barnard in 1986 too, even when he got himself into a good car.
He and Prost had very different ways of setting up a car to go fast, a result of differing driving styles. But John Barnard, being an autist, decided that he wanted both cars to be set up in the same way. And since Prost had been in the team longer, they went with Prost's style.
John Hogan, the Marlboro F1 chief at the time, said that Rosberg never really got the hang of that style, until the last race, by when it was too late to do anything good.

Which, interestingly enough, was in direct contravention of Piquet's contract, which gave him clear Number 1 status. That's not the main appeal of sim racing though. With sim games, you get to use cars and tracks you'd otherwise never could afford to buy/use.
I'm sure I'll never drive a ferrari laferrari or lamborghini aventador in the nordschleife track at full speed or an f1 in Imola irl. Plus, it is safe to do so as you can just restart the game or disable car damage if you ever crash. I think i sort of get your point but, you're still not even getting a feel for what those cars are actually like, nor the tracks. It's still fantasy land. And lets not forget that it's well known Ferrari aren't letting people use their cars in games unless they actually make them handle/drive better than they actually do, i think it's an issue with Assetto corsa at the moment but don't quote me on that.
I was racing at cadwell park a few weeks ago and also tried it on a couple of different 'sims' and there are plenty of bumps and track deformations that even these new style laser scanned tracks have missed, or either the game designers failed to implement into the game.
I'm not having a pop at sim racing at all, i enjoy it myself, it's just the people that spend literally thousands on it, who are clearly motorsport enthusiasts but who can't look out the window and at least give it a go because they think it's more logical and cost effective to only ever simulate it, not all racing is or has to be expensive

Fair enough. I would think, then, it's largely between ignorance that a real track is a feasible idea, or fear of bending a car/hurting themselves. Plus like anon above suggested, the escapism factor.
I personally just think we're living in a fucking golden age when a (comparatively) small sum of money gets you load cell pedals, a decent wheel, an OR headset, and transducers for tactile feedback that genuinely does enhance the real experience and make you quicker, or at the very least delivers more bang for buck on the day. My first time at the Nurburgring was a radically different sensation, having watched onboard lap videos and pushing a few laps around on an Xbox, from my first time at Spa, having run laps in VR, and seeing sightlines and braking points and turn in points that correlated to what I'd played with in my study at home.
Nothing compares to the real thing, but the fact that such a reasonable facsimile is available in the home is pretty fucking cool.

>>69582986
I always love the awareness he had there.
>>69582986
who was driving the SC?
aren't they usually ex-racing drivers?
>>69583015
It's been based Bernd for 16 years now
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernd_Mayl%C3%A4nder
>>69583015
It's always Bernd Mayländer, he has been driving it for 16 years.
>>69582853
>mfw I just wanted to make a joke about that but felt bad about it and didn't
am I getting old?
>>69583036
>>69583039
i never thought about it but it must be really difficult to drive a car like those Mercs in wet weather while going fast enough to keep the F1 cars happy
>>69582868
Spa is special, mate - can't recommend a day driving it enough. Seeing Eau Rouge/Radillon on TV, and then going to the race to spectate, you think "HOLY FUCK that's steep". Then, driving it, you think "No, seriously... HOLY FUCKING FUCK that's steep" lol. But the rest of it is just fantastic, as well.
And yeah - I think tyres are a better buy than PC parts lol
>>69583113
>spend $600 on nice tires to put on my $800 track wheels
>barely noticeable difference in handling
>>69583059
there is objectively nothing wrong with this
>>69583066
I'm sure they put ridiculous good wet tyres on it, so it should be able to drive pretty fast
>mfw german gp is on my birthday
>>69583757
hello based famalanman plz stay white hope you don't lose agen
I don't know what I'm more afraid of: Kimi not winning any other race, or him winning one and me not watching it.
>>69584642
are you kidding me? gimi is winning the WDC this year
>>69584673
Lewis Gimilton?
>>69584673
You're not supposed to lie to gypsies, they're supposed to lie to you
>>69584696
no the OG gimi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksbcQiGGGQE
he's silent even in victory
>>69582098
Quit shitposting and fucking study
>>69582098
Go study, and then study some more, then study even more, then when you feel like shitposting go study again.
>>69585650
That's un-australian you cunt
>>69585674
Is failure more Australian?
>>69585736
.....Yes?
Is this a trick question?

>exactly one year from the day Jules died
wtf i hate tractor cunt now
>>69586620
i feel sorry for tractor cunt some 2bh. he was just doing his job. mostly blame the race organizers, and Bianchi a little bit for speeding under the safety car in horrendous conditions
btw, anything more news on the Bianchi family's lawsuit?
>>69586751
they had better not win that lawsuit.
it was bianchis fault for speeding and not paying attention
>>69586775
fia telemetry showed bianchi wasn't going any faster than any of the other drivers
it was whiting's fault for not either red flagging the race due to treacherous conditions (it was just as bad as malaysia 2009 for example) or throwing out the safety car
and let's not even get into how dangerous it is to put a tractor on track, during a wet race with an extremely high potential for aqua planing whether you took the corner 100km/h slower than normal or not, at a corner that a driver had already aquaplaned out of and is prone to causing aquaplaning.
if it didn't happen to jules it would've happened to another driver. brundle had been going on about how dangerous tractors on track are for 20 years and nobody from the fia listened to him
>>69586751
>>69586775
>bianchi speeding before his accident
how did this meme start?
>>69586970
The FIA report mentioned it
>>69586751
>>69586775
Source for Jules was speeding?
Obviously he was probably lifting just enough to get away with it, but every driver does that. In those conditions as well, it should have been full safety car. I was honestly surprised it wasn't Red's considering how cautious the FIA are. It was ridiculously wet, and Sutil's car was on the exit of a long corner.
>>69587093
Probably because they just wanted to get the race done with.
They tried to move the start time but the track owners were worried about attendances.
I mean there could easily be blame for even starting the race.
>>69587258
Well, it was quite dark too. The rule that brings races earlier is probably a good thing; that or having lights at the tracks.
I don't know about the idea of the cancelling the race from the start; I don't remember it being that bad at the start, but it definitely got worse. I think Massa was calling for it to be red flagged.
>>69586471
>@TomDillmann Shouldn't really be "racing" under double waved yellows...
based Ollie
>>69586970
FIA thought it would be a good meme.
>>69583066
It's better than the F1 cars in rain like that.
>>69588009
We need more of this
have races ever taken place in pouring rain? or is that movie Rush full of shit?
Formula E cars will have a new front wing next season
2008 F1 cars all over again desu
>>69588124
Yes. Yes.
>>69588180
really hope they wont be as bouncy so they stop looking like toy cars
>>69588180
Why don't F1's have those big fenders in front of the wheels like FE and Indycar's do? Is there some bs reason they can't, or is it actually worse?
>>69588180
lol wut
I do wish they would just abandon the idea of making it look like a 'Formula' car and make them look interesting
>>69588276
Because it isn't "open wheel" if you do that. FE and Indy are pussies
>>69588276
FE just uses it to move the air around the tyres to reduce drag
F1 front wings have the same concept, but for whatever reason the regulations constrain them to a much smaller area, so F1 teams compensate by making the front wings a lot more complex to try and manipulate the airflow rather than just push it aside by blocking the tyres
>>69588291
The reason they do that is because of people like this >>69588300 that get rock hard over wheels, but don't like when there's bodywork near them. Formula racing is more popular than most closed cockpit/closed wheel racing, other then NASCAR.
>>69588276
The tires create a massive amount of drag, so FE and Indycar use front wings that try to counter that. On the old Dallara Indycars (IR-05) the tires made something like 50% of the car's drag.
The FIA has a ton of regulation in place concerning the endplates. They can only be a certain size, single piece, must be almost perfectly straight, etc.. IIRC the reason the front wings were so narrow before 2009 was so that the teams couldn't channel air around the front wheels.
>>69588180
looks much better than the current wing
