The likes of time trial world champion Vasil Kiryienka (11:49), Fabian Cancellara (12:09), Rohan Dennis (11:23), Tony Martin (14:09) and Tom Dumoulin (14:47) will be non-GC riders to watch early and will also provide crucial course information for their GC teammates who'll head out later.

Rodriguez departs at 16:12 CEST, skelly leaves at 16:39.

I honestly think the decision is fair but they need to always apply it across the board in similar situations. If Bauke was the only one that fell nothing would've happened and that's my only complaint.

If you know roughly how things are going to turn out (<3km before the end of the finish) and it's not the fault of the runners (idiotic spectators/motors) they need to have a rule in place that protects ANYONE in that situation timewise.
>>
how well will this stage suit cancellara?

Which is precisely why they have commissaries to judge the situation; no two instances are alike.

There was literally nothing they could do to make it right for GVA, or for Flecha + Hoogerland. There was something they could do to make it right for Adam Yates, and for Froome + Porte yesterday.
>>
It's Bardet's year I feel it.
He climbed good for now.
He'll lose like two minutes today so they'll let him go in the next mountain stages

ASOS have to create a course that can allow a race. They totally failed to do that yesterday, not just for Froome but for Porte and Mollema, and even the failed goat boy who got caught up.

A two foot wide lane of morons and photo motos that stops any attacks, then just stops the race at the point we've been waiting for, for nine days, is a failed race. Time resets is the last of its problems.

When is the earliest TV coverage guys?

Is it really not until 13:00? Anons yesterday told me the reason why coverage doesn't start until late on normal stages is that the motorbikes have to come within range of the broadcast vehicle, but surely on a short TT stage they don't have this restriction?

Well he's been quite dominant in every age group, and in pro races that don't involve Chris Froome. It's natural to expect/hope he'd keep improving until his late 20s.

As yet his weaknesses haven't improved, and he is seemingly floundering a little. I wouldn't write him off yet.

I think Quintana looked strong last year, there were a couple of mountain stages where Froome looked really weak and his teammates had to drag him up

I seriously think the main difference is the teams. If Quintana had a team as organised and committed to helping him as Froome, and Froome had a team as shitty, disorganised, and mercenary as Movistar, then Quintana would probably win

Today's stage is going to tell us a lot about Quintana's ability to ever win this tour. I think he's about to lose a lot of time.

He's just too small to survive the long drags well and lacks acceleration power. Last year he had a chance, but I don't see it coming again.
>>
>>69554874
Yeah, definitely

It's not just Froome that is great. The Sky Rape Train is just too strong. So many riders who'd probably make a good shot at top 10 if they didn't invest all their strength into supporting Chris.

Just look at how Poels for instance was pulling them up the Ventoux yesterday, and instantly responding to all of Movistar's shitty attacks.

Thank god they don't also have Porte anymore.
>>
>>69554878

>>69554875

I fell asleep yesterday when they started going up Ventoux. Thankfully I catched the rebroadcast later on. They seriously need to do something about spectators on climbs. Even if nothing had happened how are the riders supposed to attack when there is only room to ride single file?

Also we should allow the riders to carry tasers so they can target drunken idiots getting too close. I'm fairly certain it would make the races much more exiting.

TJ:
"I didn't see much but it was definitely mayhem out there. The crowds get a little out of control and with so many motorbikes, the road is only so big."

Mollema wasn't happy with the situation, but in turn van Garderen wash't best pleased with Mollema, and criticised those who raced hard while Froome and Porte lay stricken by an accident that wasn't of their own making.

"Normally when you see a big GC guy in trouble the gentleman thing to do would be to stop and wait and regroup," said the 27-year-old. "You saw that a lot in the past but these days people just seem to want to take advantage of it."

There has always been shitty music. It's just that with the proliferation of mass media, television and social media, it gets much more attention.

What can we do to stop the sky train?

Maybe limit the number of drones a GC contender can have? For example VROOM + 2 helping riders, no more. Sigh man
>>
I don't enjoy anything new anymore.
I only watch films and tv shows I've watched before and even that is almost too much effort for me.
Prefer to just endlessly watch Attenborough stuff, Life, Africa etc.
I don't like new music and I'm tired of the stuff that I've listened to to death. I did like that Biener song with the saxaphone or whatever.

Nice. That must have cost a pretty penny though.

Yeah I think you're right, they're might be a bit annoying sometimes but they're not snobby. I don't watch it all the time and I haven't so much recently, but I used to quite a lot. Loads of good cycling info 2bh. Riding, nutrition, etc. And I like their videos where they look at pro riders' bikes and the gear they use. And the tour bus videos, those are good.

I got lucky and bouht it $50 brand new on eBay my man. And I agree entirely, they set out to be an all-encompassing channel for cycling information, and they manage to do so without being in the slightest condescending or officious- just a couple of former professional lads and cheeky lad banter, and incredible production value. 'AFP has spoken to several neighbours of the suspected driver. They describe him as solitary and quiet, who always took his bike up to his apartment.

One neighbour said he did not seem to be a religious person and often wore shorts. A family in the four-story building said he never returned their greetings. One woman on the ground floor was suspicious of him because of the way he stared at her two daughters.'

When will Team Sky fold? They where created with the sole intention of having a British man win the Tour within 5 years of inception in 2009, which they've now clearly surpassed. I don't get the impression they're in for the long-haul like Lotto and AG2R have been

2agan seems to have taken it easy but still came in 32nd. And honestly, if he actually pulled, he might've taken a top 5 easy. This really looks like a stage he'd like.

Remember during one TTT in which Tinkoff almost won how he didn't even bother to leave the winner's tent and just hanged there with Sky. Absolutely based.
