Ronaldo actually made a goal that mattered (header against Wales), but Messi was more entertaining to watch (that free kick against USA was very good, there were other moments as well).
However, I also think they both get a handicap in regards to the teams they have to go up against. If Portugal had to go up against Germany or even Italy they would have gotten destroyed. I don't know what could have happened if Argentina went up against Columbia or Uruguay, but we all feel like Nostradamus when Argentina faces opponents like USA or Paraguay.
