Is football the most complicated sport there is? I know it's not rocket science but with all the strategy and rules, no other sport even comes close. So how does such a complex sport become so popular among the majority of American sports fans when so many are so dumb?

No, football's pretty simple. Just a ball and two goals. I guess that's why it's the most popular sport in the world.

Americans don't have the patience to watch a sporting event that isn't interrupted by commercials every three minutes

Gridiron is bretty simple 2bh

Offense vs. Defense, defense must tackle, offense must progress. Crystal clear

Box used to be very complex in until the late 50's then the amateur system got meme'd and it became more of who throws better combinations altough some guys mantain the great skills like Mayweather or Mike Mccallum

In terms of how exciting and immersive a game is these are how sports rank (Main sports only)

1. NFL
2. Hockey
3. Basketball
4. Baseball
5. Soccer

Alternatively, here are how the sports rank in terms of how smart and complex they are

1. NFL
2. Baseball
3. Hockey
4. Basketball
5. Soccer

NFL
>create rules to cover rules loopholes
>new rules create more rules loopholes

Nah it isn't complexity, it's just plain bad design
