Griezmann. striker/goalscorer/whatever he was better. across the board. from movement to conversion to pretty much any metric in general, Griezmann trumped Ronaldo. strikers aren't necessarily needed in a tactic. maybe for presentation, but in actual execution, no. there were worse players who played better than Ronaldo who should be in that team.

I don't understand the desire to pull out. U21's don't compete in europe, U19's do. The U21's league is a joke and i very much doubt that matches against professional players in the 3rd division is going to be detrimental compared to playing with more kids. I don't see the downside.
>>
I'm playing FM15, does anyone know if the qualification places for the CL/EL can actually shift over time? I don't just mean a country moving up from 2 CL + 3 EL to 3+3, and swapping spots with the one that used to have that, but the actual balance shifting. as in, the first three spots always seem to be 3 CL group stage, 1 CL best placed playoff, 2 EL group stage, and 1 EL third qualifying round. my question is if the actual numbers themselves can change, not just teams moving up and down that list.

for example, if one of the top 3 countries does amazingly well over an extended period of time, can they be allotted more than 7 spots in continental play, and if so how would the math work for that? this is all assuming normal spot distribution of course, not counting the extra CL spots that go to the CL/EL winner if those teams didn't already get a CL spot normally.
>>
>>69487615
>U21's don't compete in europe
I think they mean international U21s so they will be missing most of their best players. But yeah I think they should still do it since like you say no downside as it will just give other U21 lads a chance..
>>
>>69487615

>scheduling of the EFL Trophy group stage fixtures clash with international breaks
>each academy side are also obliged to play a home game at the club's first team stadium
>some clubs happy with current number of matches for their youth

so here's what it is: several teams are having some sticking points with the terms of the competition, and are just refusing to participate instead.

No it won't happen, otherwise La Liga would already have 10 spots IRL, don't be silly. 2bh, a country having 4 spots and possibly 5 if one of their club also wins the EL is absolute cancer. So much for being the """Champions""" League.

>No it won't happen, otherwise La Liga would already have 10 spots IRL, don't be silly.
how do you figure? they've gotten top-tier coefficients, but it's still within the realm of reason. the kind of ridiculousness it would take to skew it as heavy as I mean would be something like every spanish team winning every single game (not just aggregate victories) until they faced each other, with all 4 of the teams in the CL semis being spanish and both of the EL finalists. then, repeat that for 5+ years or something.

if they did that, the numbers would skew heavily in their favor, and extra continental spots would be justified.
>>
>>69488014
At some point even if it's justified it shouldn't be done because it would snowball the CL to La Liga 2.0 and likely kill it.

Because having 4 clubs per league in CL wasn't always the case and it's already cancer as it is. You can also bet your ass all smaller countries (which means, all countries below the top tier) would bail out of UEFA competitions in protestation). At this point you might just do an NBA: a closed league with the most ""reputable"" clubs in Europe.

>Implying CL semis/quarters aren't already repeating themselves
>Implying EL semis/quarters aren't already filled with Spanish clubs
>>
>>69487722
They do shift over time, depending on how clubs do in continental football, but they'll never exceed the real-world limits.
>>
>>69488095
that's only if the mid-table La Liga teams could hold their own against the top teams from other leagues. if they actually can, that means they've earned it and should be allowed. that doesn't mean they should be given automatic group stage spots though.

in any case none of this was actually talking about the irl rules, but how FM worked instead. I was just wondering if there was some sort of computation that would shift the spot allocation over time based on coefficients or whatever. based on the responses, it doesn't sound like it. I'd be fine if FM capped it at 4+3 spots max, I was just hoping that the actual spots for each rank weren't eternally fixed in place.
>>
>>69488158
is that right? I haven't been playing long enough to see any major status quo shifts to see that, but that's good to know. something to look forward to in the long run.
>>
>>69488188
Yeah, you just need to get 15 or 20 years into the save (and it may be more apparent if you manage in a smaller country, since it's easier to improve their coefficient).
>>
>>69488218
In 10 years Portugal is the #4 league in my save.
>>
>>69488218
wouldn't it take more than just one country changing in order for the spots-per-rank balance to shift? if one small country gits gud then that would just mean the spots stay as they are but that country moves up the list and gets more spots due to having a higher rank, right?
>>
>>69488270
And that's how it works both IRL and in FM since y'know, as flawed as it is, FM still is supposed to be a football simulation.

>the spots stay as they are but that country moves up the list and gets more spots due to having a higher rank, right?
Yeah, that's what I mean. The actual number of CL and EL berths never change since they're tied to the countries' coefficient rankings. What does change though is the existing countries just moving up and down the ladder. FM isn't coded to predict and randomly form/fold leagues or clubs so it'll likely never happen in that way.

>>69488391
well not necessarily. I think I'm just really bad at explaining this, so I'm going to try a different tactic instead.

in pic related, imagine for a second that the country at each spot is irrelevant, and just look at the spots awared to each RANK. ranks 1-3 are identical because the spots given are the same. 4th, 5th, and 6th are actually 3 different unique spots because their spots are a bit different in each one. 7-9 are the same though, as are 10-12, 13-15, 16-17, and 18-23.

my question is if the numbers that go in each spot can change over the years, with the balance of distribution changing somewhat. that doesn't mean that the top spots would get more than 7 total. I was just hoping that the spots given to each RANK (regardless of which country is actually in that rank at the time) could shift over time.

for example, maybe 4th and 5th would be identical to 1-3 for a while because the top-tier in europe is a 5 country race for a while. or maybe 9th looks like 10-12 instead of like 7-8. stuff like that.
>>
>>69488509
I second this.
>>
>>69488569
The answer is still no. It's not changing because it screws with the format and takes away the equal participation of smaller countries.
>>
>>69488569
No it won't, else it would be pointless to have said ranks; everyone would be a winner and this isn't American sports. If they're that good, they're ranked higher, end of.
Unfortunately for you if you're in a small country, the AI is very retarded at squad building and won't help you become the top country in Europe.

I don't get how you equivocate a redistribution of spots based on earned merit to some sort of oppression engine designed to crush the little guys. if anything it would give more or better spots on occasion to lower ranks sometimes, but less at other times depending on how many countries are holding their weight at the time.

>>69488657
meme insults aside, you sound like you're arguing a completely separate point than what I was saying. I don't think you got what I was trying to explain, but that might still be my fault.
>>
On paper both sides are correct
>>
>>69488774
Because there's a fixed number of spots in the champions league and if you give more to more successful clubs you have to take them away from somewhere else. You can't, as you theorized, give equal opportunity to the big 5 because then you have to take away the 2nd spot that #10 and #11 and #12 have and harm football in those countries by giving them less exposure while making the CL a bigger wankfest for top clubs than it already is.

You're right, you're shit at explaining this. That, or you're fucking retarded
>>

>I don't think you got what I was trying to explain, but that might still be my fault.

the idea would be that if more or better spots are awarded to X rank, it would be because that country has earned it recently. that's not to say that protecting the lower leagues would have to be done away with entirely, you could just put caps on exactly how many spots could move where, so that the list can change but still is generally not very fluid and will look pretty similar most of the time.

in any case, I got my question answered for how FM works, so that was what I needed. how I personally feel about it was beside the point, really.

yeah I know, I was saying that ideally, you could still allow the balance to change AND protect the middle and low tier countries from being overly pillaged in any given year, as long as you implement caps that prevent certain spot configurations from going too high/low. if you allowed spots to change without such measures, then it would be theoretically possible to have 1st-Xth all be at max spots and everyone else have only 1, but instead it's at a graded scale. the point was that exactly how that grade lies can still shift slightly year-to-year without actually moving too much in the big picture, all you have to do is regulate it.

but again, that was all beside the point. I know you guys get way overly triggered at the very notion of any kind of change to anything ever, even moreso than baseball fans, but it would be helpful if you could focus on what my actual point was instead of focusing on the tangent.
>>

>>
>>69489148
It's no tangent really. Just put it on paper without changing the format of the competition (which means that you can't add nor remove contestants) and see what happens.

> I know you guys get way overly triggered at the very notion of any kind of change to anything ever
If anything I'd be all in for taking away that 4th spot for top leagues and redistributing it to other smaller countries/tiers/whatever, but the key word is "redistribute".
>>
>>69489359
what about on papyrus
>>
>>69489310
I think the point is that it isn't a tangent because FM is meant to as closely replicate real life as possible so unless that were something that could happen irl then it will not be allowed to happen in FM.
>>
>>69489359
>It's no tangent really
>proceeds to continue with tangent
well okay if you really want to discuss it that badly I guess I can oblige for a bit. as a fan of american sports, having system-induced parity appeals to me, so evening things out more by taking a few spots from the top end (and putting them somewhere else) so that the whole thing is more level is fine by me. when I was first getting into club soccer I found the champions league kind of baffling to begin with since it wasn't really a bunch of champions, it seemed like less than half of them were and the rest were just top teams in england/germany/spain/italy/etc.

I learned the reasons for all that in time obviously, but the current format still feels less like a champions league and more like what some people want the european super league to be, with all of the top reputation teams in it regardless of country of origin. not that having that would be bad either, it just seems like the current CL format is in the middle of the road between two ideas, and that feels awkward to me. obviously it's a great financial success, but it would be neat if I could see a different side of it competitively.
>>
>>69489530
STOP
>>
>>69489482
well sure, that's true, but given that this is still a simulation it will inherently have some technical limitations, so there's bound to be some situations where what happens irl isn't reflected in FM, which is the opposite case. FM does a great job at replicating things as closely as it can, much much moreso than pretty much any other sim except maybe some flight-based ones, but it never hurts to keep that perspective in mind.

Not really. Bar an extreme few and minute exceptions that were almost but all killed with Bosman, all the top reputation clubs in Europe are either in the top leagues of the Europe, or rule said league in such a way that they're unaffected by that. Like Maribor in my save.
>>
>>69489316
the NFL implemented that centrally-reviewed calls thing too, I never liked it. as far as the baserunning policy goes, I guess MLB is just trying to cover their interests in the hope that people won't see baseball as a contact sport? their changes in the past decade seem to me like they're predicting the NFL to fail sooner or later and want to be poised and in position to take the market back and become the #1 american sport again. gonna need a lot more changes for that to happen though imo, but they'll also probably be for the worse. if I'm right about that, then you're in for a slow, painful ride.

If you really want some kind of "parity" or promotion of lower leagues or whatever, and avoiding monopolies by the few same clubs, you're better off abolishing Bosman first so they can't just poach every player they want whenever they want. Which of course means you'll have to rewrite a portion of the EU laws too. If you really want it, there must be a few dbs with football as it was before 1992, all with Yugoslavia, West/East Germany, Cup Winner's Cup and the likes. And of course, no Bosman.

IIRC you'll have a few oddities, like East German regens having Spanish names because the country is based in East Germany. I don't think you can delete countries from the db and a lot of things like this are hard-codded in the game. I remember doing a Yugoslavian save in FM 2015 (with modern/current system). Ex-Yugo countries still existed in the game but had no clubs/leagues, they still played UEFA Nation's league with shit regens with dual-nationality born in Germany and the likes (since they have no clubs, they have no regens/youth intakes) and the remaining CL spots being attributed at random (once a French D5 club had a CL spot like that, out of nowhere). Play at your own risk.

I am. We really had a chance to win this leg and I'm already in a position where I simulate every Slovenian matches. Outside of the transfer window AKA youth poaching, moaning and complaining about Miles, this is only what I truly care about: the Champions' League.

6-2 PSG. Sandnes has two by way of two own goals from PSG's keeper.

Literally one after the other.

1-1

it was a very highlightless, boring game, they only had 1 CCC which they scored and my GK got a very average rating, then their CB was clearly complacent in the 86th minute and gifted the ball to my striker

curious

will I be able to play 5-2-3-0 on contain at home for 90 minutes? stay tuned to find out

Is the Raumdeuter any good in FM15? Seems like a really cool role
>>
got him for a million 5 years ago, selling for 41 million

This is an amazing wave of emotion.
>>
>>69492145

i followed it through a few times to enjoy the ride as well. what a crescendo, the denouement is fantastic.
>>
>>69492134
It's like a wide Poacher. A technically and even physically limited but mentally good player (well, like a poacher) may have a good time with this role. However, much like a poacher, they don't defend much so you need a decent FB behind him.
>>
>>69492164
>denouement
Good word.
>>
>>69492182

whenever i go through a period of reading more books than playing FM/watching sports, my vocabulary reflects that. in person it comes off as some elitist cunt, when all my friends just know that really i'm just a bit off in the head..

Probably the best I could hope for as far as Slovenia goes.

You know that with this game, you can't expect a rational explanation when sheer incompetence might as well be the cause.

Yes.

Where can I find what a version I've started my game on? In Game status it tells me only the current version of the whole game. Or is the newest version with Pato loan in Chelsea? Or did later patch add Mourinho coming to United?
>>
>>69493034
Transfers, PA/CA changes and overall db changes don't apply to your ongoing save. If you had started a save before you downloaded a patch, the patch didn't affect your save.
>>
That's the 6th time we've dropped points after the 80th minute this season. So angrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welp time for another.
>>69493525
It 100% does for me but I am very prone to hit continue for a day after saving, if I really need to go to bed and dont want to wait out my long ass save times I'll occasionally hit no, had FM idle for 30+ mins last night and assumed that is what I did.

Higuain can NOT stop scoring for me.

i dunno who it was here who was complaining about him not scoring goals, but he is an absolute machine.

>>69493828
This sounds like the whole "strikers can't score in 14" bullshit that was parroted around here once.

Had that problem in 14, SS just always worked way way better for me. Only time I tried variations of zero striker formations.

Mike pls.

>>69493851

b-b-but strikers can't score in 14 :(

it was a lot of fun! didn't get around to everywhere we said we were going, but it was a very impulsive trip movement wise.

Fucking damnit fuck, I'm having an amazing season, and would be set to break the record for points in a season, if City weren't apparently so unstoppable. They don't lose. They only lost to me. I check after every game their result and it's just 3-0, 3-0, 3-0, 5-0, 5-1, FUCK. They even switched managers and didn't drop a point. I need them to not win twice and they've won 9 games in a row. Pleeeeeaaaaase help me, Bournemouth, Chelsea, and QPR.
>>
i wanted this kid really bad when he was 18 or so, they were only asking for 12 million but i couldnt afford him, he was supposed to be my playmaker for the next 20 years :^(

Lads, anyone have that pic of a guy making a human-sized doll of Jair? Or he made his grandma with alzheimer make it, maybe. I remembered while on the subway this morning and I've been laughing all day.

>>
>>69494984

>>
>>69495154
What's weird about this guy is you can see he's only made 18 league starts, and 26 overall, but scored all those goals. I've played City 4 times this season; 1 win, 1 loss (super cup), and 2 draws (charity shield won on penalties) and he's started against me once.
>>
This is City's actual designated key player.

Was expecting a lot more as well seems weird/very interesting. His NT record seems much more reflective of his talent. Thanks.
>>
Does players having lower energy levels going into a match increase their chance of injury?

indirectly yes.
