when is this show airing?
A couple months ago @nomazara26 and I were walking down the street in downtown Dallas. When an officer stopped us, Mazara and I immediately became nervous, "I know who you guys are" he said. "Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara, can I get a picture with you guys please?" It was definitely a first for me and Nomar to have an officer, a true hero, want to meet us. His name is Patrick Zamarripa, one of the officers killed in last nights shootings in Dallas. I'll never forget how kind and down to Earth he was. We ended up having a 15 minute conversation about sports with him. He was an avid Rangers fan. But more importantly a great person, and family man. Please keep Patrick, and all the officers affected and their families in our prayers today. #prayfordallas

>>69397114
In all fairness, they had no choice. They really did manage the innings as much as they possibly could (remember last year june and july where they were going every 6 days plus extra days off).
>>69397230
there's always a choice. the nats shut down stras in the middle of a pennant race because they were more concerned about the long term health and career of their player than the immediate return of a few wins in a single year.
#curseoftheharv
>>69397230
Aaron Sanchez is going through a similar thing. I'm not a proponent of some arbitrary innings limit but at the same time it's wise to monitor how a young pitcher holds up throwing so many innings. Some pitchers are indestructible and some are glass.
Why is nobody talking about the fact that Bartolo Colon if all people is replacing Bumgarner in the all star game?
I get that he's old and fat and that's funny but that's a waste of an all star spot.
>>69397230
you don't think that other players, pitchers and agents aren't watching while the mest destroy their young talented pitching staff for short term gains? Why do you think that the nats have been able to add top tier free agent pitchers since then? The players are thinking, "This is a team that will take care of me and protect me and my career, even if it's not best for them in the short term." That shit counts senpai.

>they're gonna need to order more food for the ASG buffet
>that Joey Gallo IG post with one of the cops who were killed

Im not disagreeing with you, but lets look at the other side. You have 80% of your starting rotation who never pitched more than 160+ innings in a season, are still relatively young to the majors, and that staff takes you to the playoffs. What would you do if you were the GM, pull 3 starters and tell them "nope, you are shut down". Pull 2 of them and have animosity between them?
Come on man, show some perspective here. It wasnt just 1 pitcher who was extended, it basically their whole starting pitching staff.
Bitch all you want about it, you cant just shut down every one of them.
>>69397574

>>69397326
I'm hoping he tells them the truth if somethings up and if nothing is they can keep playing him.
>>69397623
>>69397808
I'm talking specifically about Harvey, who had personally expressed concern about his recently repaired ligament and the overwhelming prevailing wisdom of shutting him down after a predetermined innings limit. The pressure on him from everywhere, team mates, fans and mostly the FO to continue to pitch in to October was immense. He reluctantly agreed and now his career may be in jeopardy. The others were a little less cut and dried at the time, but the results are now becoming more clear. The Mets don't give a fuck about their players. The world is watching them put their young stars through a meat grinder. That will have more long term effect than any one post season run.
>>69398018
Harvey is an exception to the rule. Dont lump him in with the rest of the staff. He has been a wild card ever since he came up to the majors. He never listened mets management, always does shit the way he wants. Gets his shitbag agent Boras to be the bad guy and plays the victim, and he never cared about anyone else but himself and winning his games.
I honestly dont care if they give away harvey for a bag of balls. If you have been following his career of the past 5 years, you would see the same thing. Instead, you are jaded and looking only at small trivial specifics instead of the whole picture.
Fuck harvey, his problems are not due to how the mets managed him, its how he and his people managed him
>>69398109
Case in point, After a meeting with Strasburg and the Nats front office, it was determined that due to his recent back issues, it was wise for stras not to pitch in the all star game. San Diego is his home town. Do you think he wanted to pitch? You're damn right he did. But they're being smart and cautious. In the long run, it's just not worth it. If the Mets were less greedy and selfish, they could have had a dynasty with their staff of young phenom pitchers and decent, if unspectacular starting 8. Now all they have is one WS flame-out and a hospital ward.

So what the fuck is up with so many first baseman standing on the base with their wrong foot? Miguel Cabrera was standing on first with his left leg instead of his right as a right hander and a ball got past him because he couldn't stretch as far to the right for it. I've seen this a lot lately. It's like they want balls to get past them

He did it lads
>>69401258
1st base is a 2 footed position. as a RH 1st baseman, you stretch with your right leg if the throw is accurate or if it is up the line. If the throw pulls you down the line towards the outfield, you slide your feet and stretch with your left leg.
>>69401415
>a fucking leaf telling me how baseball is played
No you idiot. If your left foot is on the base and you try to stretch as a right hander(thrower) with your glove on your left hand, it won't benefit you at all. You stand with your right foot on the base as a right hander and your left foot on the base as a left hander. This is fundamental basic shit you learn as a kid. It's only because major leaguers get lazy and expect the ball to always come right to them that they don't do it

problem is you're trying to declare war on the word "defense". We will not tolerate this hostile aggression from the commonwealth or the crown. We agreed long ago to go our separate ways (july 4th 1776 if im not mistaken). You take your word defence and shove it up your ass. Notice how spell check always tryin to get you to change defence to the correct spelling. Thats because computers know best and their American. JUST LIKE BASEBALL.
So dont you stupid fucks play dumb and act like this isnt an act of aggression towards the social construct, nay, the very social fabric that holds the greatest country ever to exist, the USA, together.
Sorry to be so pointed on the subject but I feel very strongly about the attempted euro influence on our great language. We mastered it thus we get to dictate its progression. Not the fucking savages from the commonwealth
>>69401548
You realize you can change the language on a computer, right? The reason it defaults to American spelling is because a fucking American wrote the software. There's no need to be this triggered over different spelling of words.
>>69401522
It's common sense that reaching across your body is less effective than moving and turning your whole body to reach farther by using your right leg. Like, anybody could objectively see that right now if they tried it out themselves. The only possible benefit to using your left leg is that you could possibly get your body in front of it. What college did you play at?

I didn't say he'd let in a lot of runs, I said there'd be a lot of homeruns. 20 home runs out of 50 runs scored is one hell of a ratio; since I'm sure plenty of them were multi-run homers, he's probably let in over half of his runs on dingers.

>>69412732
He's had to work with two of the worst catchers in the majors who don't know how to frame pitches. This leads to having the throw more towards the middle of the strikezone making it easier for opposing batters to get hits. He isn't the only sox that's has to deal with this either

>>69412732
Don't listen to this >>69412891 idiot. What he said is a problem, but not the cause of his current slide.
During the offseason, our pitching coach boasted a "new approach" that he worked on with Sale in order to stop trying for strike outs in an attempt to lower his pitch count and get even deeper into games. What this turned out being was a second fastball, thrown at 90-92 MPH instead of his usual 95-97. He also almost completely stopped throwing his change up, which was his best or second best pitch in seasons past (behind the slider).
At the start of the season, he had a BABIP under .200, which I think was caused by people being "fooled" by his new approach. They went in expecting old Sale and got these new dinky fastballs and it threw them off. At the end of May, people starting teeing off against him. You can see in the picture here, his last 9 starts are absolutely hideous. Especially take note of the fucking HR/FB rate.
I wouldn't expect anything from him in the ASG.
>>69413817
So three bad starts and awful catchers make him awful?
Are you retarded? Why are who fans such fucking debbie downers
Chris Sale sucks
>>69412732
The running theory is that he was "conserving" energy so while his FBs are usually unhittable 96-97, they dropped to an easily hittable 91-92 on Friday. He also didn't throw his changeup either in the same name of conservation.
So the reason for that conserved style of pitching is probably twofold. He figured his offense would show up against a poor looking starter for the Braves so he didn't need be 100% and also the main reason, so he would be ready at full power for the ASG.
Basically people think he pitched reservedly and got shelled by the Braves because he wanted to conserve his energy so he could go all out as the ASG starter.
>>69414021
>make him awful?
??????????????????
I didn't say he was awful. I said his last 9 starts and his new approach are awful. And they are.
>>69413817
The Cell has been an absolute launching pad lately, most of those home runs (and his worst starts) have been there
Q has suffered the same with the home runs at the cell, 8 in his last 3 home starts, though he's been able to pitch around them somehow and turn out decent starts each time anyway. His worst starts were at boston which is understandable, and at detroit. those two starts he just didn't have any control, which is definitely not helped by the fucking catchers
and the sox have been dinger crazy at the cell lately themselves, remember when they hit 7 and lost heh
Now Chris Young, that's the Chris I'd trust with the ASG
Daily reminder that beating the Dodgers is equivalent to winning the WS for Giants fans

>>69414143
>The running theory is that he was "conserving" energy so while his FBs are usually unhittable 96-97, they dropped to an easily hittable 91-92 on Friday.
I would wager that anyone who seriously thinks that didn't watch the game. He was hitting 97 just fine.
>>69414457
Eventually. The homer he gave up to flowers was 92. He realized he was in danger of getting btfo so he dialed it up but it was too late. Not to mention flowers catching him for years probably knew how to look for his breaking stuff and told his team how to avoid it. With that in place, sale was essentially a two pitch pitcher to the Braves hitters and they sat on his FB easily.
>>69414452
Some second place team who hasn't won a pennant in over a quarter century
>>69414452
Some team that has won more championships in their current city than the Giants
>>69414538
The point is that the 90-92 MPH pitch is not to "conserve energy." It's been a part of his repertoire all season, and it's supposed to induce weak contact (it doesn't).
Also, he threw a 96 MPH fastball in the first at bat of the game.

give it 10 years, and people will say the same thing about MMP. Houston gets attached to things, there is a reason the astrodome hasn't been torn down yet
can anyone tell me why there is that vertical yellow line in the outfield though? Like the homerun distance goes from 360 feet to 330 feet 1 inch apart

Nice cherry picked stat. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work like that. If you want a legit case for the DH to be removed I would like to see his season stats at the plate.

Face it, the whole "recency" argument is bogus.
I can't think of a single good reason to eliminate the DH, but NL cucks won't ever shut up about it every ASG.

Um because it's un-American you fucking faggot
>>69417491
I don't understand your point. Are you saying the Dodgers are currently a better team because they won more World Series in a specific time frame that you selected?
And yeah, it was the same thing, that was the point. I was showing you how stupid it is
>>69417355
How many Cy Youngs does he have? ERA titles? Strikeouts? His W/L record? These are all stats and recognitions that determine how well a pitcher does.
>b-but, he has three rings!
playing a role in championships does not make you better than another pitcher.
I'm not going to say he's bad at pitching, because that wouldn't be true at all. He's just not the best now or the best ever in the history of the game, and a lot of giant fans just can't seem to own up to that.
>>69418036
>if you're not the best pitcher in history you're not a good pitcher
Are you actually this retarded?
>>69417827
Not at all. I was just saying that when SF fans tell me "when was the last time the Dodgers won a WS? The Stone Age?" it reminds me of how dumb my own taunts from before 2010 were.
It's really a meaningless thing to say but it's funny how effective it can be.
>>69417741
What could be more American than making the sport as entertaining and competitive as possible? Every time I watch an NL game, the fucking pitcher watches 4 pitches and walks back to the bench.
>>69418283
The Giants won two pennants between 1989 and 2009
The Dodgers won zero
>>69418115
Well if you want to look at it that way, sure. I was just addressing a pet peeve of mine where delusional giants fans constantly go on about how bumgarner will go down in history as the greatest pitcher ever.
Also, in my own words:
>I'm not going to say he's bad at pitching, because that wouldn't be true at all.
But thanks for misinterpreting what I said.
>>69418326
>What could be more American than making the sport as entertaining and competitive as possible?
If they really wanted to make baseball truly competitive, they'd enact a salary cap, salary floor, and 50/50 revenue sharing
>>69418464
>giants fans constantly go on about how bumgarner will go down in history as the greatest pitcher ever
That literally never happens. But thanks for lying though
>>69418444
How many WS did they win then? How about SF pennants between '63 and '88? The Dodgers have 8 pennants and 4 WS in that timeframe. It's the same goddamn argument.
Have the Dodgers been competitive since Tommy Lasorda was their manager?
>>69418666
Can you keep track of every Giants fan in existence? If so, please tell me how you do it. I could really use that skill.
Rags/Cubs is gonna be a comfy series next weekend
>>69418706
Do you consider playoff appearances competitive? If not, then I'd say not really as a Doyers fan. They've had the potential to be these last few years but it just hasn't clicked.
>Fowler suffers a setback
JUST
>>69418696
as many as the Dodgers did
>>69418770
Of course not, but I assumed you were talking about people on here doing it, as you said "constantly". It doesn't happen as far as I see
>>69418924
I mean appearances are okay, but series wins are what matter. My team, the Braves have made a few series appearances since Cox left, but have >we won any? That's what I mean by competition.
>>69419105
I should have been more clear about that. I really meant people at my school and where I live, along with some of my relatives. The fans on here are a special breed of annoying, but I think that's true for any team.
>>69419105
Exactly, that was my point.
Madison Bumgarner is the only logical choice for the CYA

Greinke's numbers have jumped up and down his entire career, who knows how he'll be next year. He probably won't have any monster years like he has before but he could still have some good/great years left in him.
