Here's the real thing about Brendan Schaub claiming he's a bad matchup for Brock: he's entirely right
Schaub had two great things as a heavyweight that others in the division lack: good movement and good transitions
The movement would allow him to play matador to Brock and just tire him out for 2-3 rounds, and even if Brock got to him, remember Schaub managed to go 20 minutes with fucking Cyborg Abreu without being subbed, yeah he did it by evading Cyborg but that's precisely the point, if he can evade Cyborg he can evade Lesnar easily
Moreover, Schaub had some crisp striking that made good use of reach and length, I'd give the speed advantage to him and while Brock has power, I think Schaub could punch on the inside as Brock wings hooks at him
He really is a bad matchup for Brock if you look at it objectively, and I think you'd be surprised

I think strong PPV buys tend to come more at crucial parts in the story of MMA. For instance, UFC 190 was a bad card, but a big part in the RRR story (which generated a lot of mainstream media attention). UFC 190 did 900,000 buys, even though it was a shittier than 189, which did 825,000.
I think it's a great card, but the biggest part of its story, so to speak, is the number 200 and Brock's return.
How it could have been better? In the reality we live in, it couldn't possibly be better. But, maybe, there's an alternate universe where Cain/Werdum didn't fall through [that caused the entire PPV to drop, which necessitated the creation of a replacement PPV event in order to get to UFC 200 on its predetermined date of 7/9], Ronda wasn't heem'd, Jon didn't almost kill a pregnant lady, and Conor wasn't afraid of Diaz. However, in the world we live in, I would say this is just about the best UFC 200 we could possibly get.
