I can't offer much, especially from a country where the main sport is fucking nigger-ball, but you were the first country to recognize us after we escaped the Soviets and we never forgot. Today a small country was cheering for an even smaller country and it hurt when the French scored, but the passion the team showed playing till the very end was magnificent. And when you guys scored at the end I screamed with the entire bar as loudly as I would for my own. And I was pissed that I didn't get to see one last end game chant, because that stuff gives me manly fucking tears. I always supported the Mannschaft, in this tournament I found a second team I will always cheer for, just like (coincidentally, if I am not mistaken) an Icelandic dude that I read about who follows the Lithuanian football team around and cheers for them. We are literally lower in the rankings than North Korea, but he cheers for us. I will cheer for you and I promise to be a part of that end match cheer one-day.

I'd argue that, while the french team was undoubtedly superior, it was exhaustion that ultimately did the icelandic team in. You can't keep relying on 11 players on a month-long competition.
Having done what they did with only 100 pro players to chose from is a really impressive feat, considering that other nations have far more players available and achieved far less. I hope they'll be able to keep it up and produce a few more quality players, even if obviously they'll never have a huge selection.
