Yes and no. More often than not, I don't care if a player doesn't like his training focus: I still have him working on it, no questions asked. However, there are a few things like these that are hard to change even with training: I have pic related like that that despite being 186cm tall has mediocre Jumping. Tried to train him on that, and I had "felt it wasn't getting any better" or something along these lines. In these case I forget about it and change its focus. You can't go from too low on an attribute and hope it will fix itself with enough training.
OTOH, if the player isn't a pro, they're not gonna develop anyway.

I don't really buy everything that has been released about him. It just sounds like the typical post-breakup schpiel. If Bergevin decided to trade him away because it was a race issue, or because Subban himself started to eclipse the Canadiens as a whole, it just seems like a stupid idea signing a guy who has a history of breaking curfew in the playoffs, putting himself above the team, and hitting his coach with a stick in Russia (although no one would really be against that in Montreal, I don't think). Apparently he's changed though since then...
