Nobody wants to play in Dallas because they know Dallas will need 2 big FA signings and at least 2 medium range FA signings to be competitive. The team has no direction and is merely treading water. As much as people give Philly shit about "The Process" it would benefit Dallas to be a bottom 5 team for like 3 years so they can restock the team with some young talent. The short terms has very little hope for prosperity. The Mavericks can't compete with GS, SA, OKC (as they stand at this moment pending Durant's decision), and the LAC. Their options are to continue floundering in FA while waiting for Dirk to retire and then naturally being bad or to ship Dirk off and start the process early. Barring some 2nd rounder developing into a great player or Carlisle working some magic on a shitty roster they are doomed for that 10-6 seed range and maybe one playoff series win.

This got me to thinking about this: Dwight Howard, Melo, and Derron Williams all played their best, most relevant basketball with Orlando, Denver, and Utah respectively.
