I went to the UK when I was a child. In fairness, most Portuguese people I meet are very retrograde, bitter and backwards in wordly knowledge and general advancements, like 5 years behind top tier European countries. There is still a huge hipster scene in Lisbon, whereas it's mostly died in London. People aren't even self aware in that regard. I also see a lotta people believing urban myths and using popular sayings as arguments, which doesn't seem to happen in England.
That's not to say that I don't like some Portuguese people, the country or the history, I just hate the archetypal Portuguese person.
