tldr; It was pretty big in Yugoslavia, died with it, and then got revitalised again when one of our clubs joined Russian KHL. People started to get into it a lot, started watching other leagues, and let's face it, if you want to watch ice hockey in Europe you have to watch Swedish and Finnish leagues.
