Rise of Nations with the expansion pack is great, and bloody cheap for its value. As games from 2004 (?) go, this one is one of the most current. Shame Microsoft didn't quite live up to the sequels.
It's the closest to Age of Empires that you can have, only it's more fast-paced in my opinion. Playing against the AI in "Toughest" difficulty might take up 1\2 hours of your day, in just a single battle. Pair that up with amazing historical scenarios (make sure to get the expansion pack!), like Alexander the Great or Napoleon, and you have a game to spend easily 200+ hours in, for 4€.
Also, there are plenty of mods out there, even 12 years later. I recommend the Swedish campaign and tribe, see if you can restore Sweden to its former, white glory.
Games from the Total War franchise are OK, too.
Also, Europa Universalis III is on a heavy discount, it's still a pretty good game. Paradox Interactive games are really amazing, try to pick up EUIV or CKII if you can.

In this situation, Foles played 3 quarters, there was no chance of losing, and he took a major sack on his final drive. No one wanted him to get hurt.
I'm sure in most situations, it would be the same. You've done more than enough to win.
>>68854858
Yeah, I figured it would be. Just popped into my head couple of hours ago while taking a dump at work. It's a little amusing at least.
>>68854939
Wut. The appeal for early leagues is that it's more challenging. You don't know how players develop in training camp or who looks good in a new system during preseason. YOu also don't know who gets hurt. I can't think of anyway it actually stops "legitimate" leagues other than just being server space or the time investment.
Who knows, you might end up doing better than last year. Hardly could be worse.

>>68856130

>>68855163
If you want to make things more challenging drafting early isn't it. since injuries are completely completely random and doesn't reward smart drafting.
If you want to make your League more fun do what I did and have a bench smaller than 3-4 spots. It encourages more trades which rewards smart moves and it also promotes a bigger FA pool which in turn helps teams that have fallen behind.
That I think was the big success of my league last year. Even the week before the playoffs there were still valuable players on the Waiver wire. because unlike huge bench leagues that let you store players that you most likely won't play anyway, a small bench makes you think harder about your lineups every week as well as making you think twice about dropping a player since bench spots actually have value.
Early leagues are for shitters

A team made up of decent players and a big three that is constantly having chemistry issues that is lead by a controversial superstar looking to bring a championship to his title-starved hometown and re-cement his status as the GOAT of his generation.
VS
>The Golden State Warriors
A team with a fast paced non-traditionalist style of play that is led by an undersized media-darling player who has risen up out of relative obscurity to become a back to back MVP and is trying to win another championship and surpass MJ's 96 Bulls for the status of the greatest team of all time

>>68871496
>The 2007 New England Patriots videotaping controversy, widely dubbed "Spygate",[1][2] refers to an incident during the National Football League's (NFL) 2007 season when the New England Patriots were disciplined by the league for videotaping New York Jets' defensive coaches' signals from an unauthorized location during a September 9, 2007 game. Videotaping opposing coaches is not illegal in the NFL per se, but there are designated areas allowed by the league to do such taping. Because the Patriots were instead videotaping the Jets' coaches from their own sideline during the game, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell deemed it to be in violation of league rules, stating that the act represented a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid long-standing rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field.

actually the trend from taxpayers has become ever-increasingly against paying for sports stadiums primarily with public funds, if this continues than in a couple decades (maybe sooner?) top-notch stadiums will need to be entirely privately funded, especially in mid-tier markets.
that's why st. louis' new stadium proposal to keep the rams was such a big deal, not only for relocation but because they were bucking the trend by committing far more public funds than most cities wanted to do anymore, and STILL got shot down. if that's how it is, other cities are going to accelerate that trend because it's not only expensive, it might not even work, making the whole idea pointless.

well that was when carroll and schneider both took over, so I guess? depends on how "well" I tanked myself. I wouldn't want to be in seattle, but I guess I could have some fun with that for the 4 years of my contract
>ESPN's Ed Werder reports that after the Seahawks' road win on Sunday, Seattle quarterback and rookie sensation [my name here] commented to travelling Seahawks fans during an impromptu autograph session that he "loves playing for the team". However, the 8-2 starter and prospective face of the team for years to come went on further to comment that he "winning on the road feels great, but then it feels like [expletive] when remembering that after this I gotta go back to [expletive] Seattle, I don't know how you guys do it.". Bewildered by the mixed message, a confused fan asked him if he was really the Seahawks' hero. [my name] responded by laughing in the fans' face and declaring "[expletive] no, I'm gonna live out my rookie contract and jump ship for a real team as soon as I can, this is just my audition". In wake of these events, neither Seahawks General Manager John Schneider or Head Coach Pete Carroll could be reached for comment.

You do realize the Falcons have been bad pretty much throughout history, right? They really are a garbage franchise lol.
>>68883493
I just realized after all this time that Pittsburgh and Roethlisberger both have "burg" sounds in their names.
>>68883410
I think Julio is very happy in Atlanta. I would like to see him get a ring tho. At least he has one from college as a consolation prize
>>68883552
They were good with Vick and for the beginning of Matty Ice's career. That's most of the last 15 years.
>>68883552
future is bright for them tho. New stadium, decent QB and RB and elite receiver. And now they have a defensive minded HC who is finally getting the players he needs for his defensive scheme
>>68883559
I would like him to win too. Every Falcons game I go to I hope helps his chances.
>>68883583
Don't forget Bartkowski and the Dirty Birds.
>>68883606
I can't wait to watch games at the new stadium.
>>68883552
if anything the fact that the falcons are a bad team help julio's numbers since they have to throw so much
also doesn't hurt to play in a minimum of 11 warm weather/dome games a year

jokes on you dude, your soul has already been eternally damned for years, you're an animated corpse that hasn't realized it yet.
Packers QBs coach Alex Van Pelt believes Brett Hundley can be a "solid starter" in the league. Part of Van Pelt's job is to build the confidence of players at the position he oversees, but this was notable nonetheless. Teammates and coaches rave about Hundley's competitiveness, and his physical tools were never in doubt. Van Pelt did acknowledge Hundley has room for growth with understanding "hot routes and protection assignments." Hundley ripped up last year's preseason with a 7:1 TD-to-INT ratio. Green Bay plays five preseason games this year.
Where were you when you realized the Packers had the best young backup QB in the league?

This isn't true in the NFL and it's even less true in college football. Otherwise teams like Bama wouldn't be nearly as good as they are.

>>68884716
Muh excuses
>>68884745
well he's partially right, imagine the flipside of that argument. if UCLA had won the natty, it wouldn't have been just because of him but because he had a good team, too.
that's not to say that he has no impact on either scenario, though. as a player on that team, some of that responsibility is still his, moreso than most since he's the QB
>>68884875
Well of course it's not that black and white.
Shame that 70% of /sp/ seems to think this way unironically, and another 25% think it ironically "for teh lulz"
>>68885020
that's not exactly wrong but I don't think it's what's going on here. it's more like, instead of properly rating players by their performances and ability and the contexts by which those might show through, people hold everyone to the highest standard regardless of whether they're a long-term starter or some scrub. some hyperbole by me here, but unless someone is absolutely perfect all the time and wins all of the everythings with no mistakes, then he's shit. and even when he isn't shit, it means his team is shit because they weren't perfect too. and when they're all perfect they just have good scouting/drafting or whatever. it's just an excuse to shitpost that has become embedded into people's actual evaluations of people. like, I don't /v/ but I once saw an image that went something like:
>how game reviews should be rated
>scale from 1 to 10 with different meanings for each
>how game reviews actually are
>1-5 is shit, 6-8 are different good ratings and 9 and 10 are must buys
>how /v/ game reviews are
>1-9 is shit, 10 is GOTYAY
it's kind of like that except that it's done so much that it actually became internalized.
