Hi Paul, I'd like to talk about my Auburn Tigers

September 3, 2016: The Clemson Tigers make a big statement by thrashing Auburn 100-0 in their own stadium.
September 4, 2016: Gus Malzahn is fired, Kevin Steele is interim coach. We all prepare for an 0-12 season.
September 10, 2016: We beat Arkansas State 16-14 when they miss a chip shot as time expires.
September 17, 2016: Trevor Knight throws 5 picks in a 24-20 win for the Tigers.
September 24, 2016: Leonard Fournette rushes for 500 yards in an instant classic shootout, but a late fumble on the 1 yard line allows Auburn to escape with a 55-52 win.
September 25, 2016: Auburn receives votes in both the AP and the Coaches Poll
November 26, 2016: Auburn is 10-1, ranked 12th, Alabama is 11-0, unanimous 1st. On the back of a 7 TD performance by Jeremy Johnson, Auburn wins with a 65 yard field goal as time expires.
December 3, 2016: #7 Auburn thrashes #14 Tennessee in the SEC championship, 61-14
December 4, 2016: The playoff selections are announced, Auburn creeps in at #4.
December 11, 2016: Jeremy Johnson narrowly beats out Christian McCaffrey for the Heisman
December 31, 2016: Auburn beats Michigan with the controversial aid of 5 penalties called on Jim Harbaugh.
January 9, 2017: In a rematch against the undefeated Clemson Tigers, Auburn wins 85-84 in a similar fashion to Appalachian State's Miracle on the Mountain.

Book it.

I have edited my Realignment and Relegation Plan.

REALIGNMENT
As before, it was hard to maintain some rivalries (OU-Texas, Tenn-Bama,) and current conference similarity (MAC, SEC, Big 12). The idea is to have * conference of equal size with each conference having an upper and lower division. Max games possible has went from 19 to 15, as it is now, since that was a major issue people had in my first plan.

The regular season would remain at 12 games. Each team plays the other 7 teams in their division, 2 teams from the other division within their conference, and 3 OOC teams. Each team also gets 1 bye week. Games against the other division in the conference are chosen using “Random Number Generator” type system or some similar computer program that can sort that out.
RELEGATION
After the season the bottom upper division and top lower division teams in each conference swap division.

EXPANDED PLAYOFF
Conference championships games are eliminated and the champion is the top team in the upper division. The CFP is changed to 8 teams made up of the upper/lower division champions and starts two weeks after the final games. Both the Upper and the Lower divisions get a playoff. The top 2 in each upper/lower division move on to their respective CFP. Seeding is chosen by a committee like it is now. All games are held at a neutral site. Week 1 is 1v8, 2v7, 3v4, 5v6. Next 2 weeks are self-explanatory. The sites for these games would rotate between LA, San Fran, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, NOLA, Atlanta, and Miami yearly

Playoff Schedule
Week 1 - Round 1
Week 2 - Bye
Week 3 - Round 2
Week 4 - 3rd place game
Week 5 - National Championship (upper division) and lower division championship

Additionally, the post season would include 12 bowl games for those that didn’t make their respective playoff.

I think that is all. Can clear things up if something is worded bad or not explained

TLDR: Adding a relegation system to cfb, realigning conferences, and expanding the playoff

There is no way to fit all teams into geographical areas without overlapping or making really weird regions that intertwine. Plus this adds a consistent UGA-GT, Clemson-SCar, FSU-Miami-Florida, Louisville-Kentucky, etc. that wouldn't have to consistently take an OOC spot from each team
>>
>>68794845
If FSU and Clemson are the only teams people think will win the ACC then UNC is the best darkhorse candidate, with Miami right behind them. Duke, Pitt, VT, and Louisville won't have competent enough rosters to win the ACC.

Realistically, to crack the Top 25, a C-USA team would have to go undefeated deep into the season.

USM I'm not sure even gets by Kentucky in their opener, but they're definitely not getting by LSU. Zero chance.
Tech isn't getting by Arkansas in their opener. Okay, maybe they are, because Bielama loves to choke away the season in the first couple games. But I really struggle to see them winning at Arkansas AND that trip out to Lubbock. Very slim chance.
WKU is at Bama Week 2. Nope.
Marshall probably has the best chance of all of them, but I still can't see anyway Louisville chokes to them and then Pitt turns right around and chokes again the next week. Any coach that lets his team overlook someone who just sprung a major upset the week before should be fired on the spot. I can't see any way Narduzzi lets that happen.

Basically, it's not happening.

There's always the /chance/.... whether you're Boise or Louisiana-Monroe, you have one super-hard FBS team and one or two cakewalks, then your conference schedule. Win a game against a team the committee/voters have heard of, you're in.

Boise could do it just by beating literally any P5 team in September, it's a combination schedule/rep (though yes, a CUSA team would have to wait until late October).

The outgoing AD has picked four head coaches, the first was great, the second two know less about football than I do. The 4th starts in September.
>Your "giant(s)" you will have to face this year
Really only Florida, as in 2016, SMU is pretty much on our own level, and Army hasn't won anything since they beat Hitler.

We won't win that one (even if their own new coach stumbles, we lose by two touchdowns), but as for the rest.... anything better than 3 wins proves that the "experts" don't even bother to follow CUSA.
>>
>>68819201
Not all FCS teams are equal, and Portland State had an outstanding year last year. That head coach is FBS bound in the next couple years, I'm sure.

Having said that, that game was not indicative of UNT's talent, only their head coach, who was the cheapest they could get on Craigslist. Seriously, he had a losing record at Iowa State, someone with no football experience thought that would translate to G5 success. Problem fixed.
>>
>>68820452
That head coach got you your only winning season in 10 years. You should kiss the ground he walks on
>>
are several G5 schools going to get dumped and have to go back to FCS now that conferences don't need 12 teams for a CCG anymore?
>>
>>68820935
No.
Now that they're there, there's no point in kicking any schools out. It's not like having those extra teams hurts those conferences, except in the case of Idaho and NMSU where they were horrible geographic fits. The only conference where this might still be an issue is the AAC, but those schools are all established FBS stalwarts with decent fanbases and (relatively) deep pockets. If they get the bump from the AAC, they'll easily find a home in the Sun Belt or CUSA or something.

Not if their coach got fired and they have an entirely new staff. There is actual infrastructure there and money being spent to improve the team, we're not a damn MAC school.

There's no proof Littrell will be a good head coahc but his offense at UNC last year was one of the best in the country. If he can find some athletes who slipped through the cracks (and this is Texas, I imagine he'll find plenty) then they should at least see a modicum of success.
>>
>>68823850
THIS IS WHAT I'M SAYING.

Success as a coordinator does not automatically translate to HBC success (sup Lane Kiffin), but last years head coach had the worst season in the history of North Texas (which has an overall winning record, despite the shit-talking ITT).

Even a modicum is better than 1-11. He's already cut all the quarterbacks and brought in his own staff. Even 5 wins next year would be a roaring success.

I can't say I share your optimism about CUSA though. I mean, it's not a graveyard or anything, but there's no programs right now that, at least to me, look like they'll do anymore than win CUSA because well, someone has to win CUSA.
But at least you're not the Sun Belt.

AAC will come poach C-USA once the BIG12 takes from them. It's some improvement, but not much. May come sooner if they want to expand to 14 teams.

Will they?
Without the need for 12 teams, it's suddenly a lot less appealing.
Who's got the big market appeal in C-USA?
North Texas? Let's not pretend they've got any significant fanbase in DFW. Plus they already have SMU there.
LA Tech? Shreveport isn't any kind of significant TV market. Not in a conference with Houston, Dallas, Cincinnati, Hartford, Tampa, Orlando...
Maybe Southern Miss looks nice to them if they're really into accomplishments from 20 years ago?
>>
>>68826211
There are fans in Denton, just none of them on THIS board. The last (and only) time UNT had a 1-win season was 1914 so let's not all go crazy here. We're not Eastern Michigan.

Also no.
>>
>>68826589
This.

Not sure why some on this board seem to think NT is some old football royalty looking to recapture former glory & entitled to success because they're close to DFW.

>now that deregulation happened, no one needs 1 teams.

False. The Big 12 management is fucking fucktarded, borderline Downs-kids. They do not know what they are doing.

A ten-team league has a round-robin tournament, which means every time has already played each other by December, and the Big 12 is expecting to get a late-season boost by either (a) their conference leader beating a team they already beat earlier in the season, which gains them nothing, OR (b), their conference leader losing to a team they already lost to in the regular season, which is even WORSE.

This is a conference run by mouth-breathers in cowboy hats, do not justify their fuckery.
>>
>>68818465

I think they're returning enough offensive power to compete both games.

But it's early in the season and they're both good teams, too close to call though. Tons of teams walk out early in the year and suck ass.
Cough chokelahoma cough

Top tv markets in CUSA
Shreveport, LA - 84 (not that great but far from worst)
Huntington, WV - 65
Norfolk, VA - 43
San Antonia, TX - 37
Miami, FL - 16
Charlotte, NC - 24
Birmingham, AL - 40

If some of the teams in these areas could get good in the next few years, and assuming the BIG12 goes to 12, the AAC will be calling CUSA
>>
>>68826863
They don't care about any of that.
They just want the cash that comes with a conference title game.
The ACC put Florida State and Miami in separate divisions intentionally just so they'd have the chance to play twice in a year.
The B1G tried to do the same thing with Ohio State and Michigan.
It's not about winning, it's about making money.
>>
>>68827047
Birmingham is Bama territory, so there's no point to that.
Miami is barely even UM territory let alone those Florida Adjective Universities.
Old Dominion, Charlotte, and UTSA are probably the most appealing market-wise, but have to be among the least appealing talent wise.
They'd be better off trying to get BYU

To be honest I've been hoping OU's offense carries them through their early defensive troubles (that they always have). OU needs some of its talent to settle into its defensive rolls before its as effective as Striker, Alexander, Tapper, Sanchez (the secondary will be good for sure but I still think they need to settle after losing Zach Sanchez as well.
>>68826967
And yes adding the extra game with 10 teams is just redundant and stupid.

>>68827794

In theory they need to run as much as possible. Have Gayfield throw on 2&9 3&8 ect. and make sure they never turn over on downs and keep possession forever.

If they can do it they will be fine. They need to stomp on opposing defenses to stand a chance though.

I don't like their odds if they go 30-30 possession time with tOSU.

The offense is good enough to pull it off, but they need to change some stuff up from last year because the being the best D in the 12 isn't good enough.

Yeah, possession is the Big 12's problem pretty much all around, its how Baylor lost to Michigan State in 2015 and whatnot. Scoring in 3 plays is great but it just gives the other team so much time to adjust.
I was disappointed when I heard that OU was going back to the air raid because I knew that Samaje Perine (and the rest of OU's back) was a great back (427 yards is impressive, whether it is against Kansas or not). I noticed against Clemson that OU's players weren't as fast as Clemson's, and plays that took longer to develop weren't being executed. When OU faces a defense that is more talented, they need a mature running game to keep the offense going because those plays don't rely on giving the receivers/qb time.

mayfield can play airraid.

But he's a really good game manager with 2 good rb's. They need to use that to win.

If you only have the ball for 20 mins and have a great defense you still lose almost every time. They have all the tools to do it, we'll see though. If they go full airraid they're fucked.
>>
>>68827048
I'm sure the Big 12 doesn't care about that. Having OU and TCU play twice will surely be more money.

But if they stopped chewing with their mouths open for ten seconds they'd realize playing in the NCG is even more money than that.

But they do not realize this because they're limp-dicked haw-haw cowboys who couldn't wrap their head around a new idea if it fell out of sky and shit in their 10-gallon hats.

Georgia

It's really hard to say, but I think I'm going to go with 9-3.

I think we lose to North Carolina, Ole Miss, and Florida, but go undefeated at home.

I strongly believe that the University of Georgia will be the national champions in 2018. We received a strength and conditioning and sports nutrition overhaul that's going to make our players more physically imposing, our players will be comfortable with the new offensive and defensive schemes, we'll have two seasoned badass quarterbacks competing for the start, all of our starters will have at least 1 season of experience, and many of our tough games should be at home that year.
>>
>>68829122
Well, there's also the fact that Texas has the rest of the conference bent over the side of its mattress with its legs spread, and Texas knows their a playoff shoe-in if they run the table in the Big 12. Why focus on strengthening your conference and risk losing someone else when you can focus on weakening it and making sure you've got an easy path to the playoff?

>>68829247
Right, but that doesn't mean the AAC's ambition has changed any. Strengthen the conference by any means necessary. I mean fuck, they put Navy in the West. Clearly geography is not taught at those schools.

Georgia tends to underestimate non-conference opponents. For example, UGA thought they were going to walk all over Boise State in the 2011 Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game, and even came out dressed in the most hideous college football uniforms I've ever seen, pic related, and got their asses kicked 21-35.

>>68831644
If there's one thing I've learned as a UGA fan, it's to never, EVER expect to beat Florida.

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Georgia_Bulldogs_football_team

A would-be national champion team gets their season ruined by an underdog Florida, ends up going to the Sugar Bowl and finishing the season 13-1.

Also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Georgia_Bulldogs_football_team

Ninth ranked Georgia marches into Jacksonville ASSUMING they're going to beat an unranked Florida team coached by Will Muschamp in his last season before being fired from UF. Georgia gets their teeth kicked in 20-38.

>>68832775

Hey, Cleveland broke their curse last weekend. Anything can happen.
>>
>>68835400
Eh, blame Nike for those things. They make good uniforms but every year they push some ugly looking ones too. I can think of some Ohio State alts, the mains UNC wore for like 2-3 years, the ones Texas is currently wearing.
>>
>>68835400

This TEAM hasn't done anything yet. Smart's UGA is run very differently from Richt's. I'm actually affiliated with the program, and I can tell you that there is no part of the program that Richt had in place that has not been at least altered, if not outright changed. Maybe that means Smart won't be as successful as Richt, but either way, expect to see a very different Georgia in the coming years.

>>
>>68842763
A few of these are (again) ranked according to the 2015 season specifically and not all-time. Old Dominion has been around for ten minutes, they should be at the bottom, for example.

Furthermore: BYU is G5. I know, they're on the list, but they're not on your map.

Fight me.
>>
>>68842813
Nah, the list-maker did. Probably some SBNation goon with homer tendencies toward the region or the head coach.

I'd put them a point or two higher than UCF but not much. Def worse than NIU.
