The trouble is because of France and the French police - and from the looks of things, a small contingent of organised Russian trouble makers.
There is trouble whenever there is international football in France. I attended a Europa League game there and the police started firing tear gas into a large group of fans just stood in the town square in Lille before the game drinking at the pubs in the square, singing songs and having a nice time. There wasn't even a peep of trouble but the police in France seem to consider any form of large crowd as a threat and their first and only means of dispersing it was to start firing tear gas at the crowd.
After that, there was trouble. The crowd started running in all directions, some people got angry and started throwing bottles at the police who fired the gas. It all went to shit.
Look at the qualifying rounds for the Euros; there's always a decent away contingent of England fans, yet no trouble. There was no trouble with England fans at the World Cup.
As soon as France is given a tournament to organise they've got World War 3 on their hands.
