I am also interested in Swimming, Gymnastics, Cycling and Wrestling. Any sport where the Olympics is the pinnacle is ok with me.

The Olympics are the best athletes in the world, and while probably the US used their influence to get basketball in, (1) it is now a global sport, and (2) ditto tennis, though I guess tennis has enough tournaments throughout the year that it's kind of pointless.
