Not played FM in a while and decided to come back to it. Used to think I was ok at it but the game seems to have other ideas. My season started well enough with me getting into the group stages of the Europa League and then it all fell apart and I have only 1 league win in 11 games.
Anyone got any tips on my tactic? I tried building one that took advantage of my best players but the whole team is just unable to either hold a lead or hold a draw. Even switching out players doesn't seem to work.
I only ever seem to lose by 1 goal as well so it's not like I'm being completely dominated.

Nope but that would still be better than what you're doing right now. You actually have to spend time developing them too, setting the correct training assignments so that they develop, so on so forth. And eventually loan them to the correct clubs with good facilities. There's a difference between taking your scouts' advice and spunking 10M+ on some jf in his early 20s and personally going through every single goddamn U19 and U21 squad in not only Europe, but Africa, South America, and possibly Asia as well (while looking for dual-nationals in latter). The only catch to this is that any player based outside the EU likely won't gain HG status, but they will be able to provide two years of U21 status, if they're good enough, even if it's as a bench-sitter or early-round player, which will save you space in the squad to register other players ,

They only need to be at your club for 3 or 4 years before they turn 21 so you find some Croatian/Serbian/whatever 16 year old who looks like he might be decent and sign him up, shouldn't cost much and yes if he does then tell them to fuck off but you should be able to nab at least a few each year and then you just need a handful of those to work out over time. That should be doable even from Championship level but now you're EPL it is very achievable.
