Hey /nba/, long time lurker, first time poster, as a neutral party this is my first time watching the finals since the Lakers were relevant, but, watching this series between Oakland and Cleveland, without watching the rest of the playoffs and conference finals games, it's hard to tell which of these teams is better from a talent standpoint vs the other team playing like trash vs these teams matching up well.
From the narrative of the announcers and all the promos, Cleveland should be favored if James, Irving and Love play well, but during Monday's game, they (the announcers) made it sound like Green, from Oakland's team, being suspended is the sole reason this series didn't end yesterday, on top of talking up Curry's and Thompson's inability to shoot the lights out without him. I'm planning to go back and watch all the playoff games, in preparation for game 6 and possibly 7, but how much of what the NBA's commentary on this series is true vs them making excuses for either team? Also, I see that Golden State is the defending champions, but in all the finals promotional spots they talk up James as the king. Lastly, a few relatives I've talked with all raved about how the current NBA is rigging the playoffs, as a whole, to drag out every series to seven, for more $$: based on what you guys have seen, how true is any of this? As an aside, I don't follow ESPN, betting trends and other such nonsense and just look at it like straight up bball. So I don't watch a ton of basketball but I hear about it everyday on sports radio. I constantly hear how Curry is amazing and is changing the game and how Lebron is getting old and can't do it anymore.
So my question is why the fuck does Lebron get so much shit when he doesn't have an amazing game and Curry gets a pass when he plays like garbage? Is it a media thing or what?

Partially, because Lebron is a guy who literally calls himself King James, held a TV special announcing that he's deserting his team to play for another, only to come back years later and still not win shit on top of being a known flopper and all around asshole, yet is an amazingly gifted player who's without question the team leader in Cleveland. Whereas Curry is meme-chucker, at worse, and it's well known that Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are as big a part of the reason GS is the defending champions as Stephen, with the latter of the two listed being more of the leader of the team, than Curry; with Curry himself being a media darling MVP who the media won't stop sucking off, so there's the hypocrisy element to it as well.
