There has been little to no time or financial investment in the WNBA. If you even look for financial records regarding the WNBA, you can find almost none. They’ve done a great job covering up the fact that they don’t care at all.
It’s not like the initial years of the NFL and NBA brought in a ton of money on TV contracts. The NBA salary cap just doubled and they can’t afford to subsidize some TV time for the WNBA? I think they can.
The female players for 8 year’s of high school and college have been forced on the public for 40 years with title 9, and equality in sports funding has made the player’s over rate their talents on a professional level. Once these players leave the protected world of title 9 reality sets in that their perceived level of athletic excellence is far less than what they believe on the professional level. It has nothing to do with media exposure since even though they say they should not be compared to the NBA on the professional level they are not title 9 protected or entitled. The fact that far more women attend NBA games than WNBA is just proof that the WNBA doesn't have high enough caliber of play to interest anyone. The European leagues are financed by owners who expect the players to sleep with them and they still have to pay people to attend games which have at most a few hundred in attendance. Let’s be honest in order to accomplish true equality there should only be one league with the best players male or female, yes this will female professional careers in the US but will ensure the equities that are being sought.

Alex Morgan is almost as famous for her SISE Body Paint shoot. She's a grown woman and can do whatever she wants, but it's pretty misogynistic and embarrassing to think how female athletes like her and Danicka Patrick are more valued for how they look in a swimsuit than their skill as an athlete. Fact: Every women's college sport loses money. In fact, every college sport loses money outside of football and men's basketball, and even those two aren't guaranteed to turn a profit. In one year, women's basketball at the 53 public schools in the 6 largest conferences had operating losses of $110 million.
BTW, the only successful female sports are women's tennis and beach volleyball which both play up their sex appeal. In defense of feminists, Anna Kournikova never won jack but was popular because she was hot af.

See, the problem is that they're doing it wrong. Ain't nobody want to see a bunch of dyke gorillas. Women's tennis is successful because it's run by smarter people than the WNBA.
Yelena Leuchanka has urged WNBA players to wear more feminine outfits to press appearances and she also models. She said you'd get more attention if the players looked attractive and had sex appeal.
The few sports women excel in are decidedly feminine like gymnastics and figure skating, emphasize feminine form and grace. Women want to be like them and the men want to date them. Also ofc women's tennis where they have short shorts.
That doesn’t hold true for the WNBA and its NFL clone. Who wants to watch women look like the guys and can’t play as good as them?

Leuchanka wants to make some money and the WNBA brings in dust for revenue. Though I have to say women’s basketball has more tactics/defense than NBA players because they can’t rely on flying to the hoop. IMHO, the NBA should widen the court, put shot clock at 30 seconds and raise the rim. That would bring more fundamentals and strategy to the game.
