Nadal destroyed him on clay and had a slight edge on hard court, Federer was better on grass

It was mainly the deep baseline play and endurance match-up that won it for him, which is all well and good, but if stacked up against similar players as Nadal, wouldn't be as effective

I recall during the Australian Open Semifinals, Verdasco almost beat Nadal during his prime employing similar tactics. (granted, Verdasco was playing like his life depended on it)
