Will Bernie go full dictator and get rid of DRS, redicilously complicated front wings, starting races behind a safety car, poor steward decisions, unevenly split ad money between teams, massive runoff areas, limited ground effect, 100kg fuel limit and the halo or will he remain a cuck?

>>68072988

Mansell was a god tier driver. He only lost 2 championships due to pure bad luck. Also, the fact that his car was goat and senna's was shit in 92 is irrelevant to rate him.

considering button beat hamilton when they were teammates, its pretty obvious why i would have button there over hamilton, and considering any one with half a brain can see verstappen being the next vettel/schumacher it should be obvious that they deserve a place in the top 5, but you know, you'd know these things if you had been watching for longer than a season and a bit

I agree with the rest of the folks, it looks a lot better.

I am not a huge fan of the design though, but I like the colors. If I want my suggestion, you should try to make it look like its water by having multiple gradients going through the different kinds of blue.

Why was there one F1 game, I'm guessing 98 where Villeneuve's name was something generic like "Driver" or some shit like that when every other car and driver was licensed with real names etc?

I used to play that game on my grandfather's computer when I was like 8 years old (RIP) because for whatever reason my grandfather had a computer in the 90s and installed a bunch of games on it that he actually played lol.

Anyway in my childs mind, once I figured out that the hidden driver was actually Villeneuve, it raised Villeneuve into this hugely mystical and mysterious epic driver status, only to eventually find out in real life that he would never win a race again and was by all accounts pretty much a cunt and raced pretty poorly in even poorer cars and teams for the rest of his career. Kind of destroyed me to be honest family

Ideally I'd like something very simple in the vein of Schumacher (1991-2000), Häkkinen, Senna, Irvine, Salo, Prost, Mansell etc. Something that you can draw from memory.

I'm just fucking around with the online helmet designer and trying different colors. They have few preset designs and you can only change the colors.

>Another problem faced was the use of the name and image of then Williams F1 driver Jacques Villeneuve, after he had copyrighted both. The game shows a silhouette for the driver's image. Murray Walker refers to him as "Williams Numberone" or "The Canadian", however on the game menu, they list him as Driverone Williams; this problem is easily sidestepped by the addition of a driver name edit function. The game also has unused voice clips for Jacques Villeneuve, that can be found via hacking methods.[citation needed] This idea proved popular and re-appeared in Formula 1 98, but was not used for any of the following games. The driver name edit function is also used to enter codes to unlock the four bonus tracks and others such as raining frogs and the cars having the ability to hover.

Wasn't the whole Jacques copyright shenanigans because some knob told him games were the future & he could make a tonne off this sort of thing later by releasing his own super game for the masses. From what heard after 97 people forgot he was a thing & his gaming masterpiece ended up being some budget shit on the PS2 bargain bin list years later than planned to an audience who cared little about who he was. Nice one Jacques you're game did about as good as Gilles quali performance at Zolder. You also now remember Jacques music career.

Actually he was 100% right its just that his career took literally the biggest nosedive in F1 history, to such an extent that not even savant Villeneuve himself could have predicted. >what is an outlier

Also I dunno man hilariously enough a lot of Tilkedromes seem to have great fun races and "CLASSIC EPIC F1 HISTORIC" circuits tend to have a lot of shitty races, namely stuff like Spa and Suzuka. Suzuka is actually almost certainly a borefest unless it rains and someone dies or if a Jap makes it onto the podium. I love both those tracks and driving both in a sim is fantastic but the racing at Suzuka in particular is almost non-existent. Generally in normal conditions tracks like Monaco, Monza. Nurburg are some of the shittier on the calendar even though they are "European classics"

Canada is based almost every year tho with the exception of 2015 which was essentially too easy on the tires and teams betting on a safetycar therefore fueling their cars on the limit, making the non-safety car race a massive fuel saving operation

>Ferrari
>TWO German drivers

nope

The lineups are going to stay quite stable for 2017 as teams don't want a bunch of new unknowns to factor in when the regulations change. The only big team drivers that I can see moving or retiring/forced into retirement are Gimi and Button.

There were some rumors of Massa moving to Renault but I have no idea if that's valid at all and somewhat pointless if they already have Ocon waiting for a seat. I mean they could drop both their drivers but I don't think they want that, and KMag has shown to be a decent driver and destroying his teammate so he seems to have a seat secured for 2017. Palmer is finished though.

Rosberg is just playing around to get a pay raise. He clearly doesn't want to leave Mercedes and you would have to be pretty insane to leave that kind of domination. The only factor here could be that he feels like he is a 2nd rate driver compared to Hamilton, (which he is) but even Mercedes have never truly shown preference towards Hamilton in the way of Schumi-Barrichello or Vettel-Webber, Alonso-Massa.
>>
>>68128928

And lets not forget that Kimi has value outside of the car as well. For whatever reason he is super popular even if he is complete shit on track almost every time. He does a lot of promo work in Asia for Ferrari and if his autism personality can sell 10-20 Ferraris to rich Chinamen or Oil Arabs then he's essentially paid back his salary already (which isn't that huge compared to other top drivers). I don't think people like Vettel or Rosberg actually have fans lol and I don't know how many Ferraris their personalities can sell.

I can almost guarantee that the no. 1 on Ferrari's wishlist is Ricciardo anyway. He's Italian heritage, quick, very "Ferrari-esque" and has already beaten Vettel once and has shown to be one of the best drivers on the grid. Unless Kimi completely shits the bed (he might), it is very likely that he keeps his seat for 2017. And the only real reason why he would get dropped is if Ricciardo becomes magically available, which he wont as Red Bull is pretty dead set on keeping their two drivers.
>>
>>68128928

ocon is a mercedes junior, so i don't see a renault race seat becoming available for him.

>>68129778

I honestly don't know if they'll ever catch up. Their rate of development is honestly quite remarkable, comparing laptimes from 2015 to 2016, the only problem is that everyone else is pushing just as hard.

Ferrari thought they had a GOAT car because by 2015 standards, their current car would destroy all competition. It just so happened that Mercedes somehow managed to develop their car at that same rate and the difference between Merc and Ferrari remains constant.

In order for McLaren Honda to actually be competitive they have to basically make 2x the amount of gains in one off season of Mercedes and Ferrari and Red Bull. And all those teams are flush with money and have top of the line personnel and certainly aren't fucking around. I honestly don't know if something like that is even possible because the technological level F1 is at right now is so high and the amount of money being thrown at development is higher than ever. They are still basically one year behind everyone else so I actually don't foresee how they can close that gap, considering that the other top teams will also find that 1-2 seconds of pace in the coming off season anyway.

tldr they're fucked and goofed hard, if someone hadn't figured it out by now

By Streiff, actually. Luca just recently alluded to him 'reacting' to the treatment. The reacting-to-family thing has been floating around for a year now, with Phillipe Streiff being credited as the source (even though he made no official statement as such).

If any of you have ever been around people with brain damage, severe head trauma, people who basically need 24/7 care just to function, it would be pretty clear to you that there is literally zero chance of Schumacher recovering.

If he was in a coma and just didn't wake up.. then maybe. But thats not the case. His brain is fucked, the brain doesn't fix itself. There is no chance of him somehow returning to normal on any level. Especially if he's already been out of it for this long, it says it alll that he is just... fucked. People who suffer brain injury are not really people anymore. They don't become retards, they become just shells, just the bare minimum of what would constitute a live human.

It's sad but it's also stupid to somehow expect that Schumacher is going to pull through and recover unlike just about every other person in history who has suffered similar injuries. At least the Bianchi's had the common sense to pull the plug eventually. Modern medicine and technology can keep a brain trauma patient alive, but it won't fix or heal them.
>>

>At least the Bianchi's had the common sense to pull the plug eventually

this is what i don't understand about the Schumi situation. there must be a bigger reason to keep him alive than just "we love him." my theory is it has something to do with life insurance/inheritance or some other legal issue that would have robbed his family of his money if he had died immediately after his accident. but then again i'm an asshole with no empathy so i can't possibly understand their situation from an emotional perspective.
>>
>>68136089
this. it doesn't matter how fit or rich you are, if your brain takes a massive whack, in 99% of cases, you're done for.
>>
>>68136222

There has got to be something else at play. Not to sound all conspiracy-theorist, but I think it's very possible that someone is keeping him alive just to bleed money from him. It could be a doctor who knows how much he is getting paid to look after a person with permanent damage and no chance of recovery, so perhaps he keeps suggesting signs of improvement just to keep the money coming in etc.

I mean it could also be Schumacher's manager Kehm or whatever her name is, as Schumacher's death would essentially mean the end of her employment as her client would be dead. She also seems oddly "close" to the family even though she is basically just a publicist. This is a bit tinfoil though but there doesn't really seem to be another logical explanation for the situation. Seems like such a horrible thing to endure this constant state of limbo without a conclusion, especially for the children.

Maybe the Schumachers are just cold people and they have the money so they figure might as well keep him alive and see if anything happens lol
>>
I can't wait or Honda to cuck Ron Dennis and force McLaren to take Matsushita instead of Vandoorne.

Really surprised that Honda continue to have faith in Matsushita after he won 1 race in 2015 and Vandoorne won just about every other one

It's actually fucking hilarious to think that Vandoorne's achievement in GP2 is not an automatic F1 drive for the next season. And they're doing this because they want to keep Button who is not shit, but is at the end of his career and really not going to progress to become any better.

This honestly. Schumi was great, one of the greatest ever probably but at least half or more of his wins were in easy mode with no teammate competition and no real competition from other teams either. Early 2000s in particular combined with Betachello, he basically stat padded with his closest competition being someone like fucking Montoya in a Williams. So many of his career victories were Pole - lead into first corner - cruise to victory unchallenged. You could give that car to Nico Rosberg and he would have done the same.

>So many of his career victories were Pole - lead into first corner - cruise to victory unchallenged.

>68 poles

I'd argue that the only seasons when he was carbabbied to titles were 2001, 2002 and 2004. Every other year, he had at least one other team that could challenge for the title.

I mean, by the end of 2000, he'd already got 44 wins and was second-highest on the list, and that's before he ever had a WinsLOL year.

>>68137966

>t. someone who's never watched the 90s

He never had the clear fastest car on the grid till 2001. That's 9 seasons, 3 titles and 44 wins in non-dominant machinery.

You also forgot the part where he came back after a few years and took 3 years to get up to pace and got varying degrees of BTFO by Nico Rosberg, showing himself to be maybe similar pace by the end of his time at Mercedes

Of course I do. I'm not a blind Kikebook-tier fanboy. In fact, I'd include Stewart in that list too. Different eras, different demands etc.

I only get triggered because people start to discount Schumacher's achievements as 'stat-padding', ignoring that he only ever had 3 utterly dominant seasons over a 15 year career.

Also because of the double standards of "muh unlimited testing and Ferraribucks", completely ignoring that testing had never been limited in F1 in the first place, and literally all the British teams' factories are practically on Silverstone, and McLaren and Williams were the richest F1 teams in the 80s
