What i love most about England is they don't just choke, they become shit when the stakes are high. Their players come from the academies of one of the best leagues in the world. Soccer is ingrained into their culture, they live and breath it. The USA has none of that. As a whole nation, we don't give a shit about the sport, yet we topped the group that England was in as well in WC 2010, and in WC 2014 they got one point. ONE POINT. The amount of saltiness was just glorious. Then they go to muh history when things to shit. And I'm talking about history from decades ago, not even from recent memory. Wilshere's won MOTM in something like 6 out of his last 10 games for England.
He's been out of action for some time now so I would agree if you said it's unreasonable to expect him to deliver to a high level this summer but I wouldn't write him off based on his overall international form when he's probably been one of England's best players over the last 2 years.
I'd much rather have him in midfield than the industrious but mediocre workhorses that we're so wont to include in those positions.
