Based Uncle Vern. The SEC will miss him terribly.

Fuck him.
As much as we love him as a comfy old man, he's such a talented announcer. At the top of his game calling anything from football to basketball to golf or whatever else. Only other announcer as well rounded as Verne is Mike Tirico.
I like Brad Nessler and think he's a good fit, but it'll never be as good w/o Verne.
I hope he keeps doing the Masters tho.

One of the lesser known great things about Verne is how many young sideline reporters and announcers that he's taken under his wing during his career. Allie Laforce considers him one of her best friends.
You'll never find anyone who worked with him that'll have a bad thing to say about the guy.
As much as I hate CBS for Nantz, the sports world is gonna miss Uncle Verne.

Why don't they put a hillbilly as the announcer? The SEC fans must feel confused with Yankee accents calling their games.
Sad. Great announcer for those fall Saturday afternoons - had a down-to-earth demeanor.
