curry has gotten people to genuinely consider changing the fucking rules of the sport because of how broken his ability is. Thats why people started hating him. That and because of him the league has turned into a chuckfest, look at what the cavs have been doing this postseason, when 18 months ago looking at the team you would have thought they would be a halfcourt offense oriented around post play and occaisionally JR chucking up an open 3. No now they take like 25 3s a game regardless of if they are open or not because why the fuck not, what are you going to do play shutdown perimeter defense for 48 minutes a game while extending yourself on offense? Its a volume game now.
I have to think that part of it is that he's doing it without freakish physical ability. It's easy to look at someone like Lebron, Kobe, or Jordan and say "genetically gifted". Curry is a great athlete, but in no physical aspect is he dominant - for years people have been thinking the way to stop him is to manhandle him the way Chris Paul does. Except this year even that hasn't really worked (kinda).
So when people say "He's the best in his sport through hard work instead of freak genetics! What's your excuse for not trying?" they have no answer, and it makes them mad.

I think so, yes.
the only way to fix the game is to remove the 3 point line. This way every shot counts as two points regardless of distance. The only way you can earn 3 points is through and-1s.
Another option is to turn the three point line into a one point line. If you're wide open and take a shot from distance it should be worth less than a shot closer to the basket (in traffic). In other words this creates an incentive to take jumpshots towards where more players are, resulting in a more difficult shot and earning you more points than a shot far away (where nobody would guard)
