Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the World 600 under the lights on Memorial Day weekend as much as anyone, but I'd be remiss if I failed to acknowledge the elephant in the room. With the amount of fans this weekend brings to the Charlotte region, and that it's a holiday weekend, the power grid will already be strained. With all of these massive banks of lights it takes to light a track of this size, it feels irresponsible or maybe even borderline criminal to waste all of this electricity to light up the track when the drivers could just turn their headlights on. It might be a bit different for us fans on TV to get used to, but in time we would. Or maybe NASCAR's "Green" initiative was just for show and they don't give a shit about our environment.

I don't think you necessarily want a super hyper realistic physics model for a mainstream game. I think if they did something that was like rfactor 2 tier realism, it'd be too hard for the average player or nascar fan to play.
If they manage to get something like the sweet spot that dirt to daytona had i.e. more realistic than an arcade racer but still useable with a console controller, they'll have a sweet spot.

iRacing and rf2 are a bit more convoluted to setup and the average gamer/fan gets uninterested and leaves
i'll be honest, my iRacing account lapsed but i may renew once dirt becomes avaliable (they confirmed plans to scan eldora, williams grove, Oswego, and a WoW sprint car and a Late Model a while ago)

That's not what a tire model means. You need to be able to tune a few parameters to get shit handling right. You can put modelling equations in that you think are right in a computer game but handling in a game can be complicated in you're dealing with the ground. No matter how simple the game may seem.
