As someone well versed in actual literature, it's really easy to say that as a poetic language Spanish and Portuguese and French absolutely destroy English. Sure, English is simples and useful, but it's also really poor. It takes a real amount of genius to get a James Joyce or a Pynchon or a Walt Whitman while you can't even count the many writers with masterful prose Argentina or France have. The language sounds way better, phonetically and conveys a much more beautiful prose.
