Will they continue to move back to mediocrity now that Fergie is gone? They were shit before him and looks like they will continue to be shitty, no matter who they sign.

FA Cup incoming greatest and most prestigious prize in world football

If they get Mourinho, they'll buy Varane, Ibra, Joao Mario & James Rodriguez.. so, no.

If not, then yes.
>>
>>67723832
You're right. I forgot how they signed Neymar, Vidal, Stones, Otamendi, Ramos, and Pogba last summer too.
>>
they earn way too much money to stay midtable for forever

>If they get Mourinho

I love this meme!
>>
>>67723754
They need to sign Steve Bruce or Paul Ince as Fergie 2.0. Plenty of people in clubs or near club circles to sign and trust for next 10 years.

Is this a funny joke

They signed Fergie same way. Or Dennis Irwin for that matter as a candidate. They're just sane. They will make common sense decisions for MU. Unlike LVG or Mou. Three season couches, meh
>>
>>67724419
>They signed Fergie same way.
No, they didn't. Ferguson had no ties to United whatsoever when he was signed, they chose him because he was incredibly successful in Scotland.
>>
5 years ago United fell from the elite tier. They really haven't done anything impressive since. They've been mediocre for a while now imo
>>
>>67724490
They really just need not indifferent decision maker for the club. Not cold selfish career people. Those guys just come in, blow all the cloth for one treble and that's it.
>>
>>67724546
Fucking Merryfats with their "elite not elite" may may. That's all your mind can produce? To burger or not to burger?
>>
>>67724554
But Ferguson was a cold selfish career man (read about his exit from St. Mirren), it just so happened that the best thing for his career was to stay at United for 25 years. No one imagined that he'd be there for so long, he was even one game away from getting sacked in 1990. Coincidentally, that game was an FA Cup final against Crystal Palace :^)

stopped reading there.
Also he was almost sacked in 1987 in third round of FA cup, I can't remember with who.
Also
>cold man who gives Becks the boot both ways
>sacks Roy Keane
>sacks numerous generations for the sake of the club
Yup

You have no idea what you're talking and know jack shit about Ferguson pre-United. He wasn't appointed to be there for 10-15 years, he was just another coaching gamble that turned out to be a jackpot.

Ferguson at that time was closer to current Mourinho than Steve Bruce/Ryan Giggs

Woodward is a huge problem. He really shouldn't be in such a position of influence. His forte is finance and commerical operations, yet sadly, it looks as though the Glazers will persist with him. This leaves United with 1 singlular opportunity to right the ship: the position of manager. They cannot take chances anymore. It has to be the best available, or the obviously best up and coming, with a track record of winning titles.

Moyes was a disaster. Completely out of his depth with the size of the club and the profile of players he had to manage. van Gaal was a sensible appointment at the time, given the sparsity of options available, but has failed to improve on an acceptably medicore first season, whilst also choking crucial fixtures that Utd were expected to get results from.

Mourinho has to happen, or the cycle of a downward trend will continue for another at least another season, once again taking them yet further away from the goals and objectives a club like Utd should have.
>>
>>67724715
Did he turnout to be one? Mou already ended up being 3-4 season coach. Maybe Fergie was looking to sink his teeth into something and he finally found United. Does that make him cold career man?

I'm gonna have to go ahead and call bullshit on that.

>>

Ferguson ditched his first club when he got a better offer from St. Mirren, then he ditched St. Mirren when he got a better offer from Aberdeen and then he ditched Aberdeen when he got a better offer from United. (and was willing to ditch Aberdeen for Liverpool a few years before when they were reportedly interested)

He wasn't seen as a long term manager when he joined United.

It'll be a while before another Fergie-tier manager shows up, and what are the odds than Man Utd are his club when he does show up? Their best hope now is to buy trophies like Man City.
>>
>>67724546
they werent elite when they won the title 5 years ago
>>
>>67727162
But they were still mentioned among the top tier.

When they got BTFO by Barcelona in the final, that was the symbolic end.
