You have no idea what you're talking and know jack shit about Ferguson pre-United. He wasn't appointed to be there for 10-15 years, he was just another coaching gamble that turned out to be a jackpot.

Woodward is a huge problem. He really shouldn't be in such a position of influence. His forte is finance and commerical operations, yet sadly, it looks as though the Glazers will persist with him. This leaves United with 1 singlular opportunity to right the ship: the position of manager. They cannot take chances anymore. It has to be the best available, or the obviously best up and coming, with a track record of winning titles.
Moyes was a disaster. Completely out of his depth with the size of the club and the profile of players he had to manage. van Gaal was a sensible appointment at the time, given the sparsity of options available, but has failed to improve on an acceptably medicore first season, whilst also choking crucial fixtures that Utd were expected to get results from.
Mourinho has to happen, or the cycle of a downward trend will continue for another at least another season, once again taking them yet further away from the goals and objectives a club like Utd should have.

Ferguson ditched his first club when he got a better offer from St. Mirren, then he ditched St. Mirren when he got a better offer from Aberdeen and then he ditched Aberdeen when he got a better offer from United. (and was willing to ditch Aberdeen for Liverpool a few years before when they were reportedly interested)
