Lets face it no one cares about Test cricket. The crowds are shit, the TV ratings are shit, and no one wants to watch a 30 hour match. This is why no one attends the Sheffield Shield. Because watching a 24-hour game spread over 4 days is boring as bat shit.
Can you imagine if T20 was the only form of the game for 150 years and someone said:
"Hey I have an idea, we will invent a new form of cricket. Instead of the current 3 hour game which has gone for 150 years, we make it go for 30 hours, spread over 5 days. Each team bats twice and if the match isn't finished, we just call it a "no result"
Yeah, I'm sure such an exciting conept would be a winner.
T20 is the game that cricket should always have been. And a club based concept is the way to go. Hopefully, over the next coupep of decades, Tests and one-dayers are relegated to the histroy books.
Both tests and one-dayers should never have been invented in the first place. They are the "wrong" way to play cricket. It has taken 150 years for people to work out the T20 is actally the real way to play cricket. It's the game we play in backyards and in schools.

Cricket is so traditional, that people just have their head in the sand.
The fact the each day of the Hobart Test drew no more than 4,000 people doens't seem to matter, to these people that have never bothered to think outside the square.
The facts are the outside Australia and England (lets face it outside of Boxing day really) people don't attend, watch or care about the long form of the game.
Shield matches are attended by two men and a dog. It's true. Deal with it. No one goes.
Why does no one go? Why? Because people are not interestd in watching a 4-day game played over 24 hours.
If T20 was jsut "cricket" and it was the only way it had even been for 150 years, we would have a fabulous thriving domestic summer sport, instead of the crap we've had for 100 years where we essentially have two international teams playing against each other for the whole summer, with no "end point" of "Grand Final" or season culmination to aspire to. Who wants to watch that? There is no point or meaning to it.
Dealing with cricket traditionalists is a bit like dealing with religious fundamentalists. They have their head stuck in the snad and have never been able to "think outside the square" about how cricket should have always been played.
I know I'm right, and over the next couple of decades, you will see that for yourselves. If you want to continue following Shield matches that no one cares about, in front of 200 people or test matches in front of 4,000 people per day, then do it. The rest of the country will be following the true form of cricket (T20) that should have bene the way cricket was invented 150 years ago. That's the game we play in schools and backyards and on the street. Only about 60 living Australians have ever played a 5 day game.
If you disagree.... "sell" your opionion to me. "Sell" to me why tests are so great, and while you are selling them to me, you had better explain why no one wants to attend them anymore.

test cricket is the premier form of the game because it is the truest test of skill, endurance and mental ability.
Test cricket is more akin a game of chess, and people who are genuine fans of the sport enjoy that aspect of it. By comparison T20 is pretty much just a fireworks display. Able to be enjoyed by people with no interest or knowledge in the subject for a short time.
Test cricket is a sport, a competition, a genuine battle between two opponents. T20 is just flukey and flashy but without substance.
Test cricket:
Batsman must maintain concentration for extended periods often in trying conditions (heat etc) because one mistake means disaster. They have to decide how much of a tradeoff to take between scoring runs and conserving their wicket. They walk a fine line between playing a good shot, and making the small mistake and getting out. Sometimes they have to be able to handle changing conditions, both good and bad. True cricket fans appreciate this skill.
Bowlers in test cricket are all about taking wickets, but depending on the state of the game, might have to do so whilst conserving runs. They have lots of time to strategically plan how to get an opponent out, a batsman who in test cricket will be fighting to keep his wicket as a priority at all costs (unless it's Haddin). They must also walk a fine line between attack and defence, they have to try and get the batsman out because a dot ball does them little good in test cricket, they bowl on all sorts of surfaces, with balls of varying condition, often for very long spells throughout a day, whilst having to maintain aggression and speed. Test bowling is a display of endurance, mental toughness, strategy, and ability.
Captains in test cricket have to assess their situation at any stage of the day. Playing conditions, match state, player injury/fatigue, team-mates strengths, oppositions weaknesses all must come into their thoughts...
>>67719708
They have pretty much free choice of the field at any stage of the innings and so the balance between attacking fielders to get wickets and defensive fielders to save runs is completely up to them. Strategic things like the toss and declarations etc can have huge effects on the game. They have to think about all these things, often under tough conditions for an extended time of the game. In test cricket if you aren't on it all the time, a chance could go begging.
T20:
Batsmen: Swing bat wildly at ball because getting out pretty much doesn't matter (see Bad Haddin). Bad shots go for edges through where the slips should be, pitches are flat and consistent.
Bowlers: Bowl yorkers and slower balls with the sole intention of saving runs, bowl a maximum of 4 overs.
Captains: Fielding restrictions early in the innings, and then spread the field. Bowlers can only bowl 4 overs each so no management or flexibility available to the captain.
T20 is just a shallow, empty, downright dumb mutation of cricket.
>>67719708
>>67719742
ODI are my favourite form of cricket
T20 is too big bash focused and trying to prove that cricket is a spectacle sport
Tests are just too long. You watch the highlights on the news and you literally didn't miss a bit of it. If they imposed something to keep it a little bit more active than 2 runs an over then it might be better. They could make tests better if they wanted to but they just don't care
>>67719770
>>67719765
He's not trolling, guys. He means it.
Fact is that if 20/20 cricket had started all that time ago, it would be just like baseball, i.e. good, but nothing special or unique.
The thing that sets Test and First Class cricket apart is that it's a soap opera as much as it's a sport. It is a totally unique entity in the sporting landscape.
You wanted an argument, well here it is. The crux of your argument is that if 20/20 was how it had always been, nobody in their right mind would think going to Test cricket would be a good idea. This, I agree with. But that doesn't make people in their right mind correct. Test cricket is insane, and we love it for that. Despite all of the conventional wisdom about attention spans, about what makes sport popular, Test cricket ignores it and provides something totally unique.
What I find particularly interesting is that in your little scenario, you mention that 20/20 would make cricket the second most popular sport in the world, behind soccer. Well guess what? Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world ANYWAY, and that is totally on the back of Test cricket. That is why you are wrong. Because in spite of the fact that Test cricket flies in the face of conventional wisdom, it has still been incredibly successful.
20/20, then, seems incomparable. It's a different sport. It's not worse, necessarily (it's a very young sport, and I agree with you that with time, it may develop complexities that rival other 2-3 hour games that have existed for much longer), or better, but fundamentally different. I'd be more inclined to compare 20/20 with footy than with Test cricket.
To use an analogy, 20/20 is a film, Test cricket is a season of a TV series, with each session an episode. One does not compete with the other, and they entertain in very different ways.
Yikes, Anderson will be a nightmare in these conditions

No its like monopoly drags on too long and everyone just calls it a draw at the end of a too long period of time.
Chess is fast paced and incredibly strategic game where a small one more decision early on can win or lose you the game. Every turn in chess has substance and is influential to the end result of the game. In tests you can have several overs were literally nothing happens "battle between bowler and batsman" meme is shit call it what it is a stalemate, the batsman is waiting for the bowler to make a mistake so he can get a run and the bowler is waiting for the batsman to make a mistake so he can get a wicket.

I have no problem with long low scoring games. I have a problem with people saying it's a battle and other bullshit when it's literally opposition waiting for the other to slip up. The "meta" for lack of a better word in test cricket is stale. The winning formula is clear and well known. The sport needs something to be injected into it to keep it alive and shake up the "meta" so we don't have these shit stalemates anymore. Just changing the scoring so that there is no draw at the end unless both teams score the exact same number of runs could be enough. Teams do seem too content with getting non results and that is a problem that is easy to fix imo

It's 1877, and the touring English side is about to play their first Test match against Australia. On a whim, both captains agree to codify the rules for the sport of cricket. A match will not continue indefinately until there is a winner, but will instead go for 40 overs - 20 overs per side.
This radical concept was new, but both captains agreed, that they would be the new rules of the sport.
The tour was a resounding success, with good crowds attending, with many spruiking the faster, exciting nature of the game, with the result all over in about 3 hours.
15 years later, at the conclusion of the tour 1892 tour, Lord Sheffield donated £150 to the New South Wales Cricket Association to fund a trophy for an annual tournament of intercolonial cricket in Australia. The three colonies of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia were already playing each other in ad hoc matches of the three hour game, which now was the only way the game was played. The new tournament commenced in the summer of 1892/93, mandating home and away fixtures between each colony each season. The three teams competed for the Sheffield Shield.
This competition was a resounding success, and as the years went by Queensland, and Western Australia were added. The crowds boomed with attendances rivalling that of the newly formed Victorian Football League. People couldn't get enough of cricket. This 3-hour bat and ball sport was proving to be incredibly popular. Soon, it was mooted that new teams be added from the existing states to develop into a club competiton similar to the Summer to what the VFL was to the Winter.
>>67719927
but theres a very good argument to suggest test cricket is a battle, the simple fact that a single mistake can see your innings (and in many cases your test) done, creates an enormous psychological battle
While i can appreciate a lot of drawn tests (mainly the sub-continent) can be boring, they attempted to remedy that with timeless tests and by all accounts it was an abject failure
>>67719963
As the years went by, the tours by the English team would still be made, but they were less frequent as the English had their own successful club competiton back home which was proving to be just as popular as the Australian version. Tours were still made, but the focus of the summer, was on the domestic competition, with international matches being enourmous events, but but not the backbone of the Summer.
By the 1930's the Sheffield Shield had 3 teams from Victoria, 4 from NSW, and one each from Qld, SA and WA.
Due to the exciting nature of the game, the United States had started to play it on the East Coast due to the British Colonial influence. Someone had tried to start a sport called "baseball" there in the late 1890's but cricket was proving too popular. Canada was a similar story with the locals loving the game of cricket.
As the years went by, more and more countries started playing cricket. By the start of the 1970's more than 60 countries were regular particiapants with strong local leagues.
Fast forward to 2010, and the Sheffield Sheild is in its 119th season. There are 16 teams, with two from WA, two from SA, 3 from Melbourne, one from Geelong, 3 from Sydney, one from Newcastle, two from Brisbane, one from North Queensland, and one from Tasmania. The season goes from October through to March with each side playing 30 matches (playing each team twice) with the top 6 contesting the finals series, with the two Grand Finalists making the Champions League.
About 70 other countries have similarly strong leagues, with the American league comprising 32 teams, and being the dominant summer sport in the USA. One of the biggest issues of the day is many of Australia's better players leave the country to pursue lucrative club careers in India, America, and even Europe. A limit of how many "foreign" players can play for a club side in a different country is introduced to keep leagues like the Australian league strong.
>>67719974
Once every four years, a World Cup is held. Every Summer the best of the Australian cricketers come home to particpate in World Cup Qualifying matches, with these matches being held in between the domestic matches, with the big World Cup tournament itself being held in a different country once every 4 years. England are not the only touring side anymore. In fact, it is not surprising for Australia, in any given Summer of World Cup qualifying to play teams from South America and Europe. The World Cup itself it the 2nd biggest event in the world behind the Soccer World Cup.
A lucrative Champions League tournament is held annually also, which generates massive amounts of money, with the top teams in the various World Club competitions participating.
The head of the ICC in 2010-11, John Smith sits down to with the rest of the executives to discuss the future of cricket, after the season has just ended. It is April 1st, and now that March was over, the MCG is to be used for the AFL for the next 6 months. The sport of cricket was so popular around the world, that they were all pretty content with the status of things. One of the younger executives suggested an idea:
Based Dan26
>>67719992
Young Executive: "How about we introduce a new form of the game"
Smith: "That an intriguing idea. Personally I'm a traditionalist, and I like the traditional and only form of the sport. But what is your idea?"
Young Executive: "Well, what if we introduced a longer form of the game?"
Smith: "Longer? The game goes for three hours already. Name a sport that goes longer? A game of American Football maybe but that's it. The sport is long enough as it is"
Young Executive: "Well, what I was thinking, was what if both teams had TWO innings"
Smith: "What's the point of that?"
Young Executive: "For the novelty and excitement. And teams don't bat for 20 overs, they can just bat on and on and on...a whole day will go for 6 hours, so they could bat for two days, 12 hours, in theory."
Laughter circulates around the room
Smith: "Are you serious, young fella? And how long does the match go for?"
Young Executive: "For 5 days"
Smith: "Hahahaha.... Oh my God, you're actually serious? 30 friggin hours? But what if the match isn't decided in 5 days?"
Young Executive: "Well, we simply call it a no result. No one wins or loses"
Smith: "So, it's like a tie?"
Young Executive: "Well, not really. A tie is when scores are level. It's just a no result. I estimate a no-result might happen about one-third of the time"
Smith: "Look, I'm sorry, but is this some kind of joke? Sounds like a good way to make sure people don't turn up. Havn't you noticed that people turn up to our sport? Why would we change that. We have the best game in the world."
Young Executive: "Do you know what date it is, sir?"
Smith: "Yes, it's April the firs...oh wait... you got me! haha"
Young Executive: "April Fools! You didn't think I was serious did you! I'd have to be a moron to suggest such a preposterous idea!"
The board of the ICC had a few laughs then got back to the business of governing the World's second biggest sport, behind Soccer.

>this is unironically one of the largest stands in the game
Why do people insist on saying that test Cricket is the pure, proper form of the game?
How many people replying to this thread have ever played a 5 day game? Or a 4 day game?
Victorian Pemier cricket is played over 2 days. Back at school, we played over consecutive Saturdays, with a 2 day games, but a lot of the matches were just limited overs 25 overs per side.
How many cricketers have ever played a 4 day game? Has anyone on this thread done this?
Of the few hundred thousand cricketers in Australia, what percentage have ever played a 4 or 5 day game? 0.001%, maybe? If that.
But T20 cricket is something we have all played. It's what we play in backyards. We play it at school. In fact, back in the 80s when I was at primary school, we played 20 over per side, and then when I was at high schhol, it was 25 overs per side, with occasional two-day two-innings games played over 2 weekends.
But nearly all the cricket people play, whether it be social, or at school is limited overs, and I'm not talking 50 overs per side either.
T20 is the game we have been playing for 150 years. All that has happened now is that the professionals play it. And so they should. We all do, so why can't they? They've been playing 4 and 5 days games, but no one in Australia except for a few hundred people have ever played a 4 or 5 day game. No one cares about a 4-day game.
That's why people don't attend the Sheffield Shield. Because no one cares about it. It's boring. You can't say "Oh it's not boring" because if it wasn't boring people would go wouldn't they? They don't, because it's shit.

test cricket is purely for 5 days of revenue. Its easily solved with greener pitches but no administrator wants that.
t20 has been ruined by small grounds, big bats and balls that don't swing.
Test cricket has failed.
After nearly 150 years only England and Australia are interested. The crowds everywhere else are awful. And despite the power and influence of the British Empire it has only established itself meaningfully in countries tied to the British Empire. Only a handful. No one goes to Test cricket in South Africa, NZ, West Indies, Pakistan, India. They just don't go. No one cares.
Now, take Baseball. A three hour game. Invented in America, (which has as much cultural influence as what the British Empire used to.) It is played in: Argentina Australia Austria Bahamas Belgium Canada China Columbia Costa Rica Cuba Ecuador El Salvador Fiji Finland France Germany Greece Iceland India Iran Iraq Ireland Italy Jamaica Japan North Korea South Korea Laos Mexico Neatherlands New Zealand Oman Poland Puerto Rico Russia Saudi Arabia Taiwan Thailand United States of America Yeman Venezuela Vietam
It is played in some of those more passionately than others, obviously. I know that. But test cricket could never spread. Ever. How can you market a 30 hour game to another country???
If T20 was invented 150 years ago as the only form of the game, I have absolutely no doubt that Cricket would be played in 50-60 countries today.

a lot of wickets are because players try and play more aggressive than they need to, if a batsman knew he could bat for in theory forever there would be a massive shift in how the game is played, meaning bowlers would need more encouragement or it would just be grinding games. this makes the game favour batsman that have solid techinque, good discipline and patience in theory at least

I'm not disagreeing with you regarding technique etc, but the issue becomes that when the game is timeless, batsmen will just turtle for days which is not going to encourage fans, to combat this you'd need to prepare a pitch that favours bowlers but that in itself could lead to matches being over in 2 days as the pitch will be soft and green as a lick (think uncovered wickets) which would in turn remove the need for timeless tests
As i said, i think things are spot on right now, a set time limit for matches and wickets that favour everyone at different points during the match

the ICC rankings have, are and always will be little more than a joke, theyre not quite as bad as fifas but certainly up there
For example, SA will probably drop to 7th in the coming weeks despite the fact they went a decade without losing an away series and prior to the india debacle in November had only lost to Australia at home in the previous 7-8 years, likewise you've got Pakistan above NZ, SA and Eng and virtually equal with India despite the fact they are garbage away from home

You're a fucking idiot. The ball was swinging for 75 overs for Australia every innings. The Poo Peelanders just weren't good enough to get reverse. Australia had reverse after 15 overs in EVERY innings.
Do not confuse Boult and Southee being fucking rubbish for the conditions being batter friendly. The pitch was comically green.

>>67722049
There was no point.
I said that they lost to Pakistan. He replied that >we also lost to Pakistan, which is true.
But my point was England never win big series which is why their points are mediocre. The rankings go back two seasons and get scaled by the year. So in that time Australia has:
+++++beaten England 5-0
+++beat South Africa away 2-1 when they were no1
++beat India at home 2-0
++++beat New Zealand 5-0
+beat West Indies home and away
--lost to Pakistan away
-lost to England away (3-2)
So as you can see Australia's achievements clearly outway the two setbacks. >We actually got a ratings boost because the 2013 Ashes and India away series (3-0 and 4-0) no longer count in the rankings.
next year the 5-0 and 2-1 over SA won't count anymore so we'll lose those points

Might be a lack of depth in the bowling and just no consistency. Boult was the only real world class seamer but he's clearly fatigued and has tweaked a nerve in his back. Southee is too inconsistent and while Henry, Milne and Wheeler have their moments they aren't anywhere near world class. There was a time when these guys kind of peaked at the same time but without depth it isn't sustainable.

>>67722164
He did say "was".
Boult WAS a world class bowler when he hit his peak a couple of years ago, and was a legitimate top 3 seamer in the world.
That Boult would've walked into the Australian team at the time, and still would if his form, fitness and confidence didn't inevitably slip.

He had one good game against England in England but then Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a good game against England in England. Is he "world class" ?
BTFOing Sri Lanka at home does not count. Boult was useless against South Africa and Australia and that's all that matters because that's where fast bowlers earn their crust.

it's being played in mid-late summer. in recent years the pitches around this time of year have been pretty dry, this may be helpful for pakistan.
they have imo a future qt ATG in amir
they have by far the best spinner of the two sides
pakistan have always been competitive in england

Steyn, Rabada, Philander and Morkel is probably the second best pace attack in the world right now.
The batting is still propped up by Amla and ABDV, plus de Kock and Bavuma are on the cusp of being good
>>67722269
the only issue though is 3 of the 4 tests are unlikely to be spinner friendly, Old Trafford might do a bit but i dont think pakistans seamers are able to put enough pressure on the england line up to give shah a chance to take wickets, no doubt Amir has a ton of potential but hes not at the stage yet where he can be relied upon to run through sides
It probably doesn't help that hes fairly short of red ball practice and theres no guarantee that he'll get a visa being a foreign national with a criminal conviction on English soil
The whole super series makes it an interesting tour though, as Pakistan on their day are capable of beating anyone in white ball cricket so could easily lose the test series 2:0/3:0 but come away with the SS due to white ball goatness

pakistan are super over-rated at white ball cricket, they are basically what england where pre last world cup. no top explosive batters, their 'batsman' ie players who nudge it around and keep the game ticking over score too slowly and their fielding is really poor. they will get absolutely blown out by england in the white ball stuff
>>67722361
steyn's getting a bit tired. philander won't do shit in australia. the lower-middle batting order is a joke.
point is dude, it doesn't matter, a few good players here and there, it's not enough.SA cricket has had the life sucked out of it. the government have literally killed it deliberately.
>>67722404
I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Pakistan are overrated at limited over games.
They're home test specialists

>>67722421
i'm not
>>67722419
there's still a perception of them as 'mavericks' who can sometimes turn up and roll teams over, in england at least, in white ball cricket. they are entirely useless at it however as everyone but the tripfag has noted

Now, you're just getting desperate, by disagreeing you've managed to humiliate yourself in front of the whole board

Would love to see the idea proposed by people on here yesterday about 3 divisions and better integration with the minor counties and nearby countries like Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands (if their international schedules allow it)
>>67722366
amir is literally going to take 30 wickets in the test series
t.mohammed btw
>>67722446
I'm not the person you are arguing with. Pakistan are so bad at limited overs that you could unironically argue Afghanistan are better. They have better meme batsman and their bowlers are about the same.
The fact you are completely unaware of this shows that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
>>67722446
Scotland and Netherlands, sure.
I feel like that would weaken the Irish bid for test status though, since once of their strengths is that they already have a very well structured domestic circuit in all three forms of the game. There's no reason to rip the throat out of that just for them to play against the bottom of the county ladder
>>67722482
>their bowlers are about the same.
Amir is good and Wahab can be devastating at times.
Afghanistan's bowlers are serviceable, but nothing extraordinary
>>67722506
Agree on Amir but Wahab is an absolute meme
Irfan is a walking joke and the rest are shit.
Afghanistan also literally have better spinners.
>>67722421
>>67722428

>>67722111
i think you could argue that india have actually been the best team overall in recent years. sure they lost all their series away by heavy scorelines, but the matches themselves have been close. whereas aus's performances in the subcontinent have just been embarrassing
>>67722536
>whereas aus's performances in the subcontinent have just been embarrassing
different Aus team
theres like 2 players leftover
>>67722435
theyve got a pretty good record at major tournaments (making the semis 4 times out of 6 at the world t20, they were unfortunate to have the group of death this year) as for the 50 over world cup theyve been knocked out by the eventual winners the last couple of tournaments and over the last 5 or so years theyve recorded ODI & t20 series wins over every test nation except Australia, the last thing england want to do is be complacent
And as you said, Pak have the vastly superior spinner and in white ball cricket, englands record vs spinners has never been particularly amazing
>>67722550
I don't think there would be much difference tbf
>>67722583
we'll see in July
>>67722506
Wahab was awful at the meme20 tournament at least, same with Irfan
>>67722483
>I feel like that would weaken the Irish bid for test status though
I think youre probably right but the ICC still seem to be dragging their heels with regard to Irelands admission to test cricket, have they even given a concrete timetable for when this test championship/playoff is going to be held?
It would be a shame if the current crop of Irish players (who are excellent) end up retiring and the next generation has nowhere near the level of talent because the ICC failed to properly invest in the opportunity and expand the game in another market ;_;
If needs be you could swap Ireland for another MC or possibly go down the path of a unicorns side of use the MCC Youth
How do you pronounce Sri Lanka? Sree Lahnka?
>>67722624
They should just agree to axe Zimbabwe already. They don't even play tests anymore and the country has no future while mugabe still lives

>>67722652
Completely agree, I'm playing cricket for Newquay CC at the moment and our overseas is Mark Vermeulen, by his accounts Zimbabwe is an absolute shithole
its a shame as well, i remember in the mid to late 90s they had a really solid squad with a couple of absolute class players like the flowers, Houghton and streak

i wont disagree with you that theyre not as consistant or as talented as they used to be, but their record does show over the last couple of years that they are capable of getting results
I still think england will sweep the series' theyve gone massively forward under the strauss/morgan/bayliss trifecta of awesome BUT its not outside the realms of possibility that Pakistan could roll out of bed on the right side and snag a few results
I'll probably have a better idea of how good Pak will be after the touring match :)

niggers killing cricket deliberately
they know well that no little nigger is interested in the game, it's not about spreading the game or about creating equal opportunity, it's simply about watching something that represents white colonialism burn
sa will be awful soon
Is the accomplishment of a hat-trick slightly diminished when it's spread over two overs?I think it is.I mean, it's still an awesome feat but doing it in one innings is just mental.
>>67722721
Well, hes only been at the club for 2-3 weeks so not got to know him massively well as yet BUT having played 4 games with him ive found him to be a really sound guy, literally you would not imagine he would attempt to murder a fan, burn down the zimbabwe centre of excellence or engage in a racist debate on facebook/twitter
Hes been absolute class batting wise though, hes leading run scorer in the prem so far and we've got the shittest squad in the division and probably the worst wicket in the county

I find it hillarious listening to the 'we need to make it representative of our multicultural country' rants on youtube from the guys who do all the quota shit, their logic is so full of holes it's painful. They keep on upping the number of 'coloured' players needed in the team yet they seem blind to the fact no black kids want to play it, it's a private school game in SA and they need to sort shit out at lower levels and it will be fine. Idk if they want it to crash it burn but it sure seems that way
>>67722802
you mean taking a wicket in balls 5 and 6 and then a wicket on ball 1 of the next over?

Either that, or taking a wicket on the 6th ball of one over, then on the first and second of the next one you bowl.
Don't get me wrong, it's still impressive.
>>67722802
My dad unironically got a double hat-trick with a 6month+ difference between the games back in the day, took 2 wickets in 2 balls last match of the season to end the game, got 4 in his first 4 at the start of the season against the same team
