I'm not going to go into every reason, but men's sport will always be more popular than women's mainly because people want to see the highest level of play possible, and men are OBJECTIVELY physically better than women in every possible way. This cannot be argued. Minor League sports are not watched for the same reason; people want to see the best. We lose interest otherwise.

The psychology of women in general does not encourage competitiveness as much as men's, at least not in a physical way. This is just nature, biology, whatever you want to call it. Now most spectator sports are just entertainment in a way, and players are paid in relative relation to how much revenue they can generate, and a competitive match is more entertaining to watch. You may argue that gender role or social expectation adds to the equation, end of the day this is the world we live in, and where we are didn't come from nowhere.
