The reason why i asked for that webm is because the rolling motion/action that got him into that is rather unique and applicable in judo, wrestling and MMA. doing a suicide roll or rolling under your opponent and catching the arm is a nice way to control a scramble.
In a judo or wrestling context even if you don't get the submission, the pinning of the head and arm are typically strong enough to win the match due to pin count (or back control pts in wrestling score)

One of the biggest proponents of the arm triangle is Seph Smith, a Ryan Hall black belt, i really recommend watching Ryan Hall's instructional on the arm triangle, 3 DVDs like 6 hrs of arm triangle principles, concepts and set ups. There's a part in their instructional where they talk about how you'll see in blue to purple belt competations 2 guys just circling and moving around so fast when synching in the arm triangle in fear of the half guard, (either obtaining it for defender or losing to it by the choker), instead of wasting energy, they go into this whole concept of framing, either using your forearm that is already around uke's head to act as a roadblock to their movement, your own torso, either of this tightens the choke/closes the space, so even with half guard the more they circle the tighter the choke feels, so they could be wasting energy but as the attacker you could lay back and have them just black out.

Not really, Cyborg has that Rumble-esque power where people get hit once and never want to feel it again, but Ronda has retard levels of resolve when it comes to forcing the clinch.
Holm and Miesha would fight smarter, but I don't know how effective they'd even be. Cyborg could tap Holm, and I think Miesha would crumble.

MNy gym does alot with the thai clinch for Jits actually. A lot of jits gyms tend to favor more traditional wrestling and judo style attacks (in Australia more so Judo) so getting the thai clinch while grappling surprises a lot of competitors from other clubs and gives you more control over the head to either snap their head down for a guillotine or just grabbing a headlock and dragging them down.

props to your gym, the thai clinch is great, in a pure grappling context without the strikes some of the concecpts might struggle. but i know for sure thai style clinching has really unique foot sweeps and body locks similar to judo and greco, in terms of BJJ, they might be harder to land again without the knees and elbows, but non the less awesome that your gym is doing something different
