What's even worse is that we put up NINE (9!!!) runs on the board in the first inning the first time and we still lost 14-16. The second game we put up 7 runs and again we lost, this time to the tune of 13-14. The same kid started both games. Oh, he was the coach's son. His relief pitcher once he got shelled? My dad did that to me with basketball. I used to be a fucking maniac with my temper and get in everyone's face. He wasn't putting up with it.
Just last week he was cleaning some old boxes out of his house and found old scoring books of when I played. He showed them to me when I saw him over the weekend. I averaged about 25 ppg in about 3 quarters of play for a few seasons. I rarely got minutes that would accumulate to 4 quarters of play either because I fouled out, was T'd up too many times, or he got sick of me and threw me out himself. That's parenting. Thanks dad, I actually appreciate you showing me how much of an asshole I was over some stupid game.
